Your question was: Will hosting my website with GoDaddy effect my search engine ranking? Would a dedicated IP address h?.
I think it depends on whether or not you will have enough content for each of those folders to be their own independent sites. I would probably lean towards the side of multiple sites since it's more diversified than having just one main website...
I agree with shockie. I would probably just use folders if there isn't much content for a whole site on each..
So all 3 votes for the 2nd option. Which is how I started out But I'm kinda in 2 minds. If I put all the content on 1 site and 301 Redirect the other domains to the main domain's folders, I only need to maintain the 1 site, not 6Also, by diversifying the content over many domains, would that possibly weaken my ranking for the search engines? Not that these "satellite" domains are very content rich. They're currently only 1 page..
Is there really a need for the 301 redirect? you are into duplicating contents btw..
Ok well one page sites are never fun. if that's the case then i'd rather have a six page mini site!..
It was my understanding that a 301 redirect is exactly what you should be using to avoid duplicate content. How else would you suggest handling the forwarding? Well the main HostGator is the one I'll be building out. But yes, it's going to be a 6 page mini site to begin with.
Any comments on the seo advantages of only having all the content on 1 domain?..
Develop each related HostGator separately and link to the developed HostGator from the "master" domain.
I chose that choice, because thats what I do..
If all the content is about the same topic... why not make a sub HostGator on your main domain.... and make the sub HostGator a good keyword that goes well with your main domain..
I don't see any real difference right now. if anything, it would be "safer" to have multiple individual sites instead of one very large one. however, if there isn't enough content for multiple sites then you're better off having it all on one domain...
Thanks to all for your comments. Just 1 last question. Is weblord correct about the duplicate content using 301 Redirects? If so. then how should I redirect those domains to the main site?..
A 301 redirect does not create duplicate content as far as I know. neither should a 302...
