First of all Which is better: Nutrisystem or nutri-system or a diet on my own? Thanks in advance for any comment. My 2nd question... I am posting this thread so I can be held accountable and to make it "real"..

I am 39 (turn 40 in December) and I looked in the mirror a few weeks ago and didnt recognize myself. I was always one of those guys who could eat (and drink) whatever I wanted and never have to worry about it. That blessing ended when I turned 30 and I just kind of justified the steady weight gain as "well your just getting older"..

I have crept up to 235 from being 190 in college and would like to turn 40 and say I am in the best shape of my life..

So here I am. I recieved my food yesterday and started the plan today. I am going to work in P90 since I'm too out of shape for P90X and see where I end up. I am hoping this forum can help me through the changes..

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could assist you..

Welcome to the fun and drink a ton of water. You will find yourself early on getting up in the middle of the night 2-3 times, but think of it as peeing the fat away!..

Welcome Firebird! You're in the right place and doing the right things! It's well within your control. Many of us have stories like yours, and worse, and have done it. I'm in better shape now at 54 than I was at 30. Back to high-school pant size and more fit than I have been for decades. It's honestly do-able. Stick to The Plan..

I consider myself a new Nutrisystem user as well (12 weeks this past Monday)..

The answers here are true..

Follow the plan! Follow the plan! Follow the plan!.

If it says to "eat a fruit and a veggie and a protein" then eat all 3 of those..

Don't worry about substituting for awhileeat what they sent and the add ins that qualify (they are in the book too)..

Drink your water. Exercise..

I've lost 30lbs as of this morning. Down to 222 from 252..

At 38 years of age I took my present jobwhich is sedentary compared to most. In 12 years I just kept adding lbs over time. In 1998 I weighed 220 lbs..

Now, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that some significant lbs lost include muscle. I haven't been lifting or doing rigorous exercise. I can tell that my arms are significantly smaller and weaker than at any point in my life. So 1) you have to do some exercise to maintain muscle, and 2) the more muscle you retain the slower you may lose weight initially..

At 20 years of age I weighed 182 lbs. I had 14.9 inch biceps, 43 inch shoulders, and a 34 in waist. I "lifted" heavily 4-5x week..

Before Nutrisystem this year, I had a 42 in waist and weighed a whopping 252 lbs!! And the 42 in waist clothes were getting snugwhich REALLY pee'd me off..

Today it's 222 lbs and a 39 in waist and I have another 12-15 lbs I'd like to drop. It's a good start..

My 'exercise' on the plan? I walk 1.5-2.0 miles per night. Somewhere between about 12-15 miles per week. I walk it fast and intersperse some jogging for a couple of blocks so it's sort of interval-based. Since you're looking at the exercise program it shouldn't be a problem for you..

Follow the plan exactly. Exercise..

The other outcome so far? I feel better than I have in 15 years. I'm sleeping fabulously at night..

This has been the easiest thing I'v ever done actually..
