My 1st question is: Which hosting site can provide me with a Verisign SSL certificate? Looking forward for any answer or 2. Second question.. Hi guys.

Having a small issue backing up my site........

I just went into admin to create a backup and the actual button is missing followed by a message stating:.

Error: Backup directory does not exist. Please set this in configure.php..

Im in configure.php and cannot seem to locate where this info should be placed..

Possibly simple but any ideas?.

Thanks.

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at Verisign as they probably could give you help..

Hi nic.

In the admin panel under the 'database backup manager' heading there is a link to the backup directory. other than that there is a warning header at the top of the page advising the directoryt does not exist..

Should there be a backup button under the backup manager header?.

Many thanks.

Only if you have the backups folder there, in older versions 2.2MS you need to actually create it on the server then set it's permissions to 777 or 755..

Thanks nic, I'm using 2.2 rc1..

So I need to manually create a backups folder on the server? do I literally call this folder 'backups'? I notice in admin>includes>configure.php there is a piece of code:.

Define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN'backups/');.

Now I'm assuming if I set up the backups folder on the server this piece of code will connect to backups for me enabling a button?.

Forgive the questions but with your advice I am attempting to answer the questions myself, more of a guidance thing really!.

Yes create it in admin so it will b.

Admin/backups.

I am pretty sure this version has it already there but yes check anyway, if it is there check the permissions of the folder, if all ok there then the problem lies else where..

Unfortunately there was no file there...... just set one up but no luck, changed config.php path to admin/backups too but no luck. the warning is now advising me to 'set the backup directory in configure.php' so I'm going to check out there again and see if I can make any changes........

I dont know how this happenned!.

Leave the configure as.

Define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN'backups/');.

That means admin/backups already Jay..

Hi again nic.

Still no joy...... configure is still define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN'backups/'); I have created a backups folder in catalog>admin but nothing has changed..

Ill have a think over the next couple of hours about what else it could be!..

Check the directory you have created in the admin directory is spelt exactly the same way as on the admin page as this is displayed using the values in admin/includes/configure.php.

Backup.

Backups.

Backups.

Are all different..

Looking at the value in post 9 the directory should be.

/admin/backups.

Hi geoffrey.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look..

The value is now: define('DIR_FS_BACKUP', DIR_FS_ADMIN'/admin/backups/');.

I have checked the folder name I created in admin and it is backups. just to clarify this is a folder that I created and the path is catalog/admin/backups. does this sound as it should be?.

Many thanks.

Hi again.

I just realised why this is happening..

My store is not the root of the site, it is within a subfolder. I just extended the value to accommodate this and the path is now correct.

I just backed up so I can now get on with some changes!.

Thanks to both nic and geoffrey for your time and efforts!.
