First question I have is When did the Nutrisystem Cher song (Song for the lonely) come out? Hoping for any response. Another question.....are the ones you say to yourself." ~Coach Mark.

It bears repeating...read each word slowly and let it sink in....

"The most important words you will ever hear about yourself....are the ones you say to yourself.".

I talk to myself all the time, and I am certain that you do also...you just may not realize how much you do it, nor just how much of what you think (what you say to yourself) is negative as opposed to positive and the subliminal effect it has on your everyday life..

I am well aware that some of you hold an opinion that I have a big ego <gasp>...while I can see how you might think that, most of you that have known me for a while also know that I could care less what you think...its what I KNOW thats important..

What you think of me is none of my business..

I am a very confident person because of what I tell myself, NOT because of what others think of me..

You can do it too...it just takes practice...I am a trained professional..

Not long ago a friend of mine was telling me all the things "wrong" with them, totally overlooking all the things they had going for them...the focus was on the negative and it showed in their life..

I asked them to start the next morning by finding something they loved about themselves, then the next day repeating that one and finding another, the third day repeat the previous two and add a third, and so on for 2 weeks...and I got a solemn promise they would do that...then I went a step further and told them that I would be calling/emailing/texting them each day and they had to tell me what they came up with...accountability..

By the third day they found themselves thinking about tomorrow's thought as they lie in bed going to sleep...then during the day thinking and writing things down ahead of time...I had 'em at that point...the shift from negative self thoughts to positive ones was underway...it snowballed from there..

This doesnt mean that you will never have negative self thoughts again...I do from time to time and remember, I AM a trained professional. I argue with myself all the time...once I got pissed and gave myself the cold shoulder for a week!.

What it does do is help you recognize the negative for what it is and NOT let it dominate your thoughts...let the positive ones do that..

Process the negative thoughts and categorize them into two groups...ones you can do something about and ones that just are..

The ones that you can do something about are the ones to tackle...make a plan and change what you need to. The ones that you can't do anything about are the ones that need to be eliminated from your thoughts and replaced by a positive...I am sorry that you think your nose is too big but at least air is free and it makes your ears appear smaller and it's flanked by two gorgeous eyes..

Soooo...what are YOU saying behind your back? Are the most important words you hear good or bad?.

We are what we think we are...its a self fullfilling prophecy..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably can answer it..

I don't have negative thoughts about myself, nor do I have positive thoughts. I am just me. I am kind to myself, I am just human. I always try to be the best me that I want to be, not what others want me to be and never compare what I have to what others have. So I'm good...

Wonderful post, Coach Mark! It's taken a lot of time, and a lot of determination, but I'm getting rid of the "bad tapes" running in my head.

Switchin' 'em out for some positive thoughts, and it makes all the difference in the world! Even if it doesn't matter what I think of you, you're the best..

Are you bragging or complaining, Mark?.

This is a great post. As for me, I have never degraded myself (at least not seriously). The occasional, "Gee, that was dumb" or "What were you thinking?" when I do something wrong or injure myself, doesn't really count because it's a holdover from my father. He always made sure that we thought things through and did things the right way without taking shortcuts and it's a way for us to get back on track. My father and mother both would insist that we never "look like a victim", meaning stand tall, walk proud, stand up for yourself, don't let anyone break your confidence, etc..

You also have to consider being a Witch helps, too. Wicca teaches love of self and the powers/energies within oneself...

Totally cool thread!!! Coach you are so right, we spend so much time giving positive reinforcement to others, why not ourselves on a daily basis. I usually say the negative outloud to myself while the positive timidly waits for it's turn to get out there loud and proud!!! This journey has helped my positive gain much more momentum...
