Hello,.

I am new to Nutrisystem and I was wondering if there was a certian brand of croutons I could use as my carb item to add to my salad? Or if I could somehow make my own? Recipe?.

Thanks,.

I get the Safeway Fat Free garlic & onion croutons - at 15 cal per tbsp, they qualify as a "free food" I just had to become accustomed to the small amount (lmao)....

Otherwise, the Nutrisystem pretzels (especially the Honey-Mustard and the now discontinued Cheese & Garlic) make/made excellent additions to salads....

I like to crumble up my Nacho crisps on my salad.

Gives it a little different taste...

You can make your own also. Cube up whole wheat bread. Spray with Pam. A little fresh cracked black pepper. Spray a skillet with Pam. Throw in some minced garlic, add the bread cubes, stir until lightly browned.

I'm not sure on time and temp because I generally do mine in a skillet.)..

Just today I bought some Rothbury Farms FF Seasoned Croutons - here are the stats; tell me what you think. my thinking is maybe 5g or 6g will make it a free food. I know I won't get very many, but i'm thinking it wouldn't be too bad....thoughts?.

Serving Size - 2 tbsp (7g/0.25oz).

Calories - 25.

Cal from fat - 0.

Total fat - 0.

Cholesterol - 0.

Sodium - 105mg.

Total carbs - 5g.

Dietary fiber - <1g.

Sugars - 0g.

Protein - 1g.

Oh yeah - they're made with wheat flour and whole wheat flour (first two items listed in the ingredients)..

I sprinkle a handful of original Fiber One cereal on top of my salads - a little goes a long way. They hold up to the dressing, add a nutty taste and the extra fiber can't hurt...

Most croutons aren't low-GI, so I wouldn't have them as a carb serving. But I did see some whole wheat ones at Kroger this weekend...

The Zesty Herb Snack mix makes an amazing salad topping...

Hey Robin - whatcha think about these? would you consider them low-gi? they're also made with whole wheat, so i'm thinking I can have a few of them. maybe I should post in the dietician's thread huh?.
