My question is: What are some Godaddy special offers?.

My 2nd question is: I've been in this field for roughly 6 months... I don't have tons of cash so I've been doing it the hard way... "ie.. hang regging".

I hand reg'd one 2 weeks ago and got a buyer.. Any tips on how not to price them out?? The name has big potential for a future project...

Yes, read this thread about appraisal scams before you move forward. http://www.namepros.com/warnings-and...cam-email.html..

Thanks for your help! If I get any shady replies I will take this into consideration most definately...

If there appears the word "appraisal" anywhere in the correspondence, it'll be a scam with 99% certainty..

A bit more detail - there is a re-current scam where someone emails you wanting to buy your domain. Often they say domains are not their primary business and sign themselves as a PhD. When you quote a price they reply that they are very interested but would like to have the name appraised to be sure that they are getting a fair price.

You pay for the appraisal and then never hear from them again because the "appraiser" was the same person with a different address.

There are also people who pay with Paypal and either have hijacked the account or chargeback the sale after they have the domain. Escrow.com can prevent most problems like that, but they do charge for their service...

Good luck closing the deal. Hope it all goes well...

I hate to be a pessimist, but a hand reg from a few weeks ago where the buyer approached you is very, very likely to be a scam.

Best of luck, and posting his/her intro letter with any names or sensitive information erased might help members identify the veracity of the offer.

For 2 weeks? I say they're not a good prospect. ask them what they will offer. I'm sure they will reply the classical have it appraised first and will propose their own appraisal company...

Not the most likely aspect, Allan. I was in a similar situation a couple of months back. I hand regged a .com HostGator and a week later, I had a $500 offer for it on sedo, I negotiated it to $800 and finalized the deal.

So you can never be sure it's a scam, could also be a stroke of luck. But yes he must indeed be careful...
