My first question is: Tried to redelegate my domain to yahoo servers from - they require (two) primary dns, wha?.

My next question is: Dear Pros,.

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I don't see an FAQ. In any case, I've registered a few decent HostGator names, but mostly stinkers since I began domaining about a year ago.

I'm now receiving e-mails from the companies I registered the names with (primarily WebSiteSpot.comwhich I've found to be cheap and reliable) telling me they are going to automatically renew my domains.

How do I stop a company from this automatic renewal, short of changing credit card numbers?.

Thanks for your help!..

Your question was: Tried to redelegate my domain to yahoo servers from - they require (two) primary dns, wha?.

Within your control panel, there should be some sort of "auto-renew" option that you can toggle. They sometimes hide it in the actual 'renew' menu like does. If you can't find it, send an email to customer service. You shouldn't have to change your credit card number. They can't make you keep your HostGator name for life!.

Good luck..

Comment #1 is WWD reseller and they have similar controls to GoDaddy. So, just.

- login to your account.

- click "manage domains".

- click on HostGator name you want to change.

- click "change" near "Auto Renew" (left column).

Should be done...

On not so important accounts I use a prepaid CC. If theres no funds then their SOL...

Wouldn't recommend it. "Collection agencies" can be a pain in the butt...

Theres nothing to collect. It's a automatic decline. If declined the name doesn't get renewed. At least it shouldn't anyway. If the registrar is stupid enough to renew my names without getting any money from me then thats their tough luck...

If you're in

Enabling and disabling auto-renew

Be aware that if you have a ordinary debit card (don't know about prepaid) or link your HostGator to a bank account, or Paypal links to it, then an "overdraft protection" can kick in, paying the charge and costing you an additional ~$34 fee per item. With $7 domains this can run up to an awful lot of money before you even find out about it...
