I would go ahead and buy the S2. I faced a similar delimma, and Canon does not make a Camera in between. The picture and video quality in the S2 is superb..
I've had an SD550 for about two months now. I've shot about 2000 images, and have found a trait that is disturbing. When I shoot an image where there is a considerable amount of continuous mid tones (water, sky, etc) I'm getting a lot of pinkish dots mixed in with the dominate coloralmost like a Seurat painting (except I don't like it). Can a defective card cause this? Is it a artifact of the camera? I almost always shoot in the "superfine" mode, at ISO 200, and the images are enlarged to 8 X 10. Thanks, David..
Yeah David.
It is called noise! Shoot at lower ISO setting. Watch your exposures carefully. Remember, if a person treats a digicam like slide film in 35mm, better results will be realized. Happy Shooting.
Dave..
Check the new model PoewrShot A700.
Featuring 6 megapixels with 6x optical zoom also it is small and compact.
It uses only 2 AA batteries..
I'm in the market for a canon with 7-8 megapixels and 7-10 zoom. I'd also like the LCD to be at least 2" or more. What about the Canon Powershot Pro 1. I've not heard many people consider this model and wondering why. It is bigger in size but seems to offer so much more...
Kathy, The Pro 1 is a nice machine, but it doesn't have image stabilization and since it's over 2 years old, it's overdue for replacement. Some say Canon has discontinued the Pro and G series altogether. Maxx..
