I sauteed cabbage in a little oil (fat serving) and a lot of garlic. It still didn't have much taste..

Any better ideas?.

I spray a frying pan with a quick dash of cooking spray, stir fry the slaw mix (I have to admit I got this idea from someone else) along with maybe some garlic, onion, black pepper, bell peppers, maybe a handful of mushrooms. Then dump the Tender Beef with Vegetables or any of the Asian style entrees on top of that for dinner..

Maybe a splash of soy sauce or teriyaki..

I like the spicy Tabasco brand teriyaki...

This is my favorite cabbage recipe:.

Take 6 slices turkey bacon, slice into 1/2" pieces and brown in very large skillet sprayed with Pam - mine is probably a 15". As that browns, slice up a head of cabbage (nothing exact, just 1/2" X 3" pieces) and put into a colinder; rinse with water & drain slightly. You may have to do half at a time, depending on the size of the cabbage. Dump the wet cabbage into the skillet with the browned turkey bacon. Carefully start stirring/folding the cabbage. Add Ms Dash garlic/herb, pepper, a little sea salt.

Continue stirring/folding for 5 minutes. Here's the best part - sprinkle a Tbl of Splenda Brown Sugar over it and stir in. Cook another 2-3 minutes, until the cabbage is cooked to your liking (I prefer mine a little crunchy - overcooking was not good for this recipe)..

Makes a good 6 (1 cup) servings. I am addicted to this and probably make it every 2 weeks or so. Enjoy!..

Deb, this sounds wonderful! Thanks for posting it - can't wait to try it...

I cook it in v-8 juice with some sauted onions and lots of garlic. I let it cook on low all day. You can eat it as a soup or just drain the cabbage out and eat it plain.

Also in the crock pot. I mix a bag of shredded cabbage and a bag of fresh sauerkraut that has been drained and rinsed. I mix that with some sauted onions and a little caraway seed. Cooked all day in the crock pot it comes out soft and tasty and is great with the ff hot dogs or kielbasa..

I saut it with onion and mix with the MS Asian Veggie Patty, Shirtaki noodles, light soy and rooster sauce (Sir Racha). We call this egg roll on a plate at our house and it's a family favorite...

An alternative to slaw and broccoli is broccoli slaw. It's made from the stems of broccoli and has a much milder taste than broccoli itself. It's a coarser shred than cabbage. I suppose you could use it in stir fry but my favorite way is to use it with Ken's Steakhouse Lite Vidalia Onion dressing. Then as my fat add pine nuts...

I love this recipe!.

Chinese Chicken Cole slaw.

(Only the chicken you add would be cooked.

4 cups of Shredded Cabbage.

3 chopped green onions.

2 oz of cooked chicken.

2 Tablespoons rice vinegar.

1/2 Tablespoon Sesame oil.

Optional...2 Tablespoons toasted almonds.

2 Tablespoons sesame Seeds.

Mix all together and enjoy!!!.

If you have ever been on Weight Watchers the whole salad is only 4 points..

Hope you get a chance to make it and enjoy it as much as I do..

(you could always add crunchy chow main noodles but then your adding higher calories).

My favorite recipe (and actually the only way I've EVER eaten cabbage) came from a post similar to this about a year ago. I never wrote down the original author so forgive me. But it's EASY and soooooo good!!!!!.

1. Take bag of already shredded cabbage slaw. Boil for about 5-10 minutes to soften..

2. Place in frying pan (or wok) with cooking spray and saute until your desired crispness.

3. Mix with dijon mustard and eat! I'm not a huge fan of dijon mustard so I use the Grey Poupon mild and creamy. Soooo good and it really doesn't take much mustard..

4. Enjoy!..

We grow it in our garden. I shred it and toss it with cilantro, vinegar, salt, pepper..

Orrrrr.... cook in nonstick pan, like sautee, chunks of it, in soy sauce, olive oil, water...

In addition to the garlic, you can add onion and any variety of seasonings. Cajun, jerk, Old Bay, or a couple of tbs of siracha hot sauce if you like it spicy. Pour a Dukan Diet entree over it and you're all set. Especially good with the Green Pepper Steak & the Spicy Cajun Chicken entrees...

Thiis what I like to do with cabbage to add variety..

1/4 cup finely sliced prepackaged cabbage (slaw).

1/4 jullienned Zucchini.

1/4 cup sliced mushrooms.

1 green onion sliced.

1/4 cup fresh spinach.

Spray frying pan with Olive oil Pam and saute veggies until tender.

In same pan very briefly heat 1oz turkey breast luncheon meat.

Put ingredients on a Lite Flatout bread (carb saved from breakfast or dinner ) and wrap. If I've saved a dairy from another meal I'll put on 1 oz LF or FF swiss cheese.

OR I use that veggie mix for dinner for my veggie servings..

My favorite cabbage recipe is for vinegar slaw. Just use equal parts of apple cider vinegar and slpenda. It has a very tangy sweet and sour thing going. I'm from the south and we love vinegar slaw. Especially with BBQ pork, which I miss...

For Cold Cabbage:.

I shred cabbage & grate a bit of carrot for color..

I never measure anything, but I add some FF plain yogurt, a little bit of red wine vinegar (rice vinegar or plain vinegar works too). 1 packet of Splenda, sometimes chopped cilantro. Sprinkle a few celery seeds in too. I salt & pepper to taste....sometimes I add a bit of garlic salt too..

It makes an incredibly good cole slaw..

For Hot Cabbage........

I spray some PAM or equivelant in a pan. I grill up some onions, a couple cloves of garlic, mushrooms & 1/2 sliced carrot. If they start to stick to the pan, I add some NF broth (vegetable or chicken). I add the chopped cabbage and cover. I cook until tender. Season however you like......I use some red pepper flakes, Mrs Dash, garlic salt. I use all the leftovers to add to some of the soups.......YUMMY...

2 Apples; sliced.

1 large Onion; sliced.

1 ts Salt.

4 tb Butter.

1 c chicken broath.

Cook ingredients in covered sauce pan over low heat for 1 hour. Then pour into greased casserole dish, sprinkle with dash nutmeg and bake in 325~ oven for 45 minutes..

I either cook up some Broccoli slaw (comes in a bag) in a skillet and mix some Dijon mustard with it, or mix some low calorie sweet and sour sauce (free food) in it, depending on what I'm having it with. I just recently switched from the regular coleslaw blend to Broccoli Slaw, and I love it!..

The following are recipes I have gotten off the boards. I am sorry I did not keep names in order to give proper credit..

Coleslaw/Cabbage Salad Recipe Needed.

>>>I just add some FF ranch dressing. Also, crushed pineapple or diced apple is good in coleslaw..

>>>Shredded cabbage (I buy the stuff that's already shredded and bagged, sometimes with purple cabbage and shredded carrots added).

FF or Light Mayo.

Apple cider vinegar.

Celery seeds.

>>>For the dressing I mix together (and this makes quite a bit of dressing, also you should adjust vinegar, lemon juice and pepper to taste):.

1/2 cup lf mayo.

1/2 cup ff sour cream.

2 tbsp rice wine vinegar.

2 tbsp lemon juice.

Lots of black pepper.

Splenda to taste.

A few red pepper flakes to taste.

Selery seeds to taste.

I don't add salt but again, you may want to.

After mixing all of the above, I sometimes thin it out with some skim milk to make it last longer.

>>>I prefer sweet coleslaw..

1-2c shredded cabbage - I use the tri-colored pre-shredded package..

1T low fat mayo.

1T or so of rice wine vinegar.

1T or so of Splenda.

That is usually all I put in it, but you could put some crushed pineapple in too if you want..

>>>4 cups pre-shredded cabbage.

4 TB Coleslaw dressing.

2 TB Helmann's light mayo.

Pepper to your liking.

My husband is loving this, especially the last batch when I added a little raw chopped onion to the mix..

>>>This isn't really coleslaw, but I like to mix the shredded coleslaw mix with orange yogurt and mandarin oranges (dairy and fruit serving) the night before I will eat it. Sometimes I add a little splenda to it, sometimes not. I've done this with crushed pineapple and vanilla yogurt also..

>>>also add some onion flakes to it.

>>>So, today, I cooked fresh cabbage, mushrooms, green beans, onions, garlic, S&P, bay leaf, fennel seeds, and a can of diced tomatoes in very little water. For dinner, I ate a Dukan Diet Chili w/beans and poured it over the top of those cooked veggies. How delicious!!!..

Saute your shredded cabbage and garlic in a skillet sprayed with pam. I add the pam several times during the process until cabbage is soft. When soft, add low salt soy sauce. This taste just like fried rice...

This a german classic recipe it's divine as a side dish to something like roast, dumplings, the beef and vegetables, etc. Very timely, too, for the fall and the holidays. It's my mum's recipe and my absolute favorite:.

Sauteed red cabbage with apple and cloves.

1/2 head of red cabbage, finely shredded.

1/2 TB clarified butter.

1 small onion, finely diced.

1 ts whole cloves.

1 ts whole juniper berries.

1 bay leaf.

Salt, pepper.

1 small tart apple, peeled, finely diced.

1/2 cp organic apple juice.

Splash of cabernet sauvignon.

1 ts vegetable broth concentrate.

1 ts brown splenda.

1 ts red currant jam.

Heat clarified butter in a large skillet. Add onion and apple, and saute slightly. Add the spices, salt, pepper, and stir; then add the raw cabbage. Sautee for 2-3 min until cabbage is slightly wilted. Add apple juice, and stir. Close tightly with lid, and sautee/steam on low heat for 15 min.

Stir, leave on hot plate and turn off the stove. Serve!.

Makes 5-6 sides of vegetables...
