Will one nyquil gel cap knock me out of ketosis or make me gain?..

I wouldn't think so. There aren't enough calories or carbs to worry about IMO.

Active Ingredients (in each LiquiCap) (Purpose).

Acetaminophen 325 mg (Pain reliever/fever reducer).

Dextromethorphan HBr 15 mg (Cough suppressant).

Doxylamine succinate 6.25 mg (Antihistamine).

Inactive Ingredients.

D&C Yellow No.10, FD&C Blue No. 1, gelatin, glycerin, polyethylene glycol, povidone, propylene glycol, purified water, sorbitol special, titanium dioxide..

You know what? I took nyquil earlier this week without even thinking. Just seeing your post I looked up the nutritional information on the liquid form. 1 dose is 93 calories...Can you believe it? That explains a lot. No more nyquil for me...

But I don't think the liquid gel caps that she was asking about have that many calories. Don't know but don't think so. I'm with you, I wouldn't take the liquid form either...

Yes, I think you are correct, Cellis. The gel-caps don't have the calories (or alcohol) that is in the liquid. However, I was having some head cold issues when I started Medifast and I did as the previous poster and took the liquid out of habit, not even thinking about calories/carbs and didn't notice any ill effects on my weight loss...

If you are sick enough to need the medication, take it and worry about the diet later. There is no need to suffer with a cold over a few carbs/calories. Even if it somehow knocks you out of ketosis, it can not make you gain..

Just don't take it with a spoonful of sugar ala Mary Poppins !..

I found this on the internet:.

".

"Vicks 1-800 number says Nyquil liquicaps have < 5 calories and 0 carbs per two capsules."..

I have been sick all week and have been taking Nyquil every night. I didn't even think about carbs and calories because I was so miserible. I did stay OP even though I didn't have an appetite (made OP chicken soup for L&G). But wow, 93 calories...had no idea. Even when I'm off Medifast I will keep the capsules on hand from now on because 93 calories for medicine just seems silly. I'm not into suffering for no reason either.

I'm feeling better and will be 100% from now on....well, that's the goal ...

I read on Nutrisystem that the liquid form of Nyquil has 11 carbs in a single dose. I took it one time before I realized and stuck to the capsule form after that.

If you're sick you need to take something. However, I don't intend to be sick and then also have to go through the headaches and fatigue of getting back into ketosis again...
