As I was walking this morning, I was thinking (I knot that could be dangerous) LOL of ways to make different things I like with the NS, is there any recipe for Taco Salad?.

I was thinking you could use the Hamburger and cut into pieces, 2 Tablespoons of FF Catalina Dressing but it has 45 calories in it. What would I count that as? Then just mix in all your veggies, is there any flavoring packet that would sub for the taco seasonings?..

I use Old El Paso 40% Less Sodium seasoning packets - 2 teaspoons adds 15 calories, so it can be a "free" food. There are also some by Taco Bell & Ortega, IIRC. I rehydrate the patty, shred it up and toss it in a pan with the seasoning & a bit of water. I make fresh salsa with tomato, lime juice, cilantro, onion & jalapenos and toss the entire thing on shredded lettuce. You still get a carb with the burger- so I take a tortilla extreme (80 cals) & cut it up, spray a little olive oil, season & toast in the toaster oven til crisp..

You can also just season the burger with chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and a bit of cornstarch for essentially the same effect and much less salt. Even the lower salt version of the packets had 330 mg per serving...

You can use the Nutrisystem flame broiled beef patty, make as directed, crumble up in a pan and add some taco spice. Then add your other Nutrisystem friendly stuff to your salad keeping it within the stats.

OR if you're not afraid to flex a meal, using the Nutrisystem stats you can use Morning Star Veggie crumbles and make taco topping with that.

Sure wish Nutrisystem would bring back the Taco Dinner entree. LOVED that dinner!..

I've used the burger as suggested in the above posts, the chili w/beans as also suggested, and the vegie fajita. Topped a big vegie salad with the entree, some Greek yogurt in place of sour cream, my fat serving of olives, a free foods worth of salsa...very tasty With the burger or fajita you'd still have your carb to add, so you could make "chips" out of low carb tortilla..

I do what Tess just said all the time! Including the greek yogurt rather than sour cream. After you cook up the Vege Fajita, if you add in the chili beans you have 2 to 3 entree's depending on how hungry you are to make Taco salads or omelets...

Hey Tess! It totally wasn't my brilliant idea. There is a whole thread on it. Mixing those 2 and sloppy joe. I just stumbled across it one day and was thrilled with the possibilities!!!!!!!!!!!! If I find it I'll come back and edit this and post it!!!!! I still haven't tried all 3 together yet, but I'm finding the vegetable fajita is so versatile with other things. I mixed it with the mexican soup last week (that I thought of myself) And it was great, spicy but in a way I like!).

LOL, thanks Tess! And if you have the Mexican soup from dinner. I can't remember exactly what it was called. Try mixing that in, you do need to cook it down a bit so it is not too soupy. Or maybe make the Vege Fajita thicker before you mix it in with the soup. DELISH!!!!!!!!!!!..
