My first question is Must I use my Nutrisystem activity and bonus points? Looking forward for any comment. My other question... I am not one to really post much on here but I am trying to be different and get into better habits so I might as well say what is on my mind..

I have lost 9 pounds over 3.5 weeks and I am already feeling better physically and mentally. It is amazing how extra weight has an effect on your body and mind..

The food:.

I like the food and I really like that I don't have to think about portion size. I do find that I crave fried chicken which I rarely ate before I went on NS. So far I have been able to stay away from late night fridge and pantry raids..

I have already been thinking about what I have to do when I decide to no longer eat the Nutrisystem food and have to control the portions of my food. I think this is going to be one of the most important things to learn..


I have always been going to the gym 4-5 times a week. I do about 45 minutes to 1 hour of cardio each time. I am going to start doing Yoga once or twice a week also. I want to start lifting weights but just can't get motivated to do it. The gym I go to has free weights and machines. Any suggestions on how to get motivated for weight lifting?? You couldn't tell if you met me that I rarely lifted weights..


My goal is 190 pounds which is what I weighed when I got out of the Marines 15 years ago. I told my wife my goal and she thought it was too much weight loss but I think it is a good weight for me. I weighed about 200 pounds for a few years after the Marines but with my current job I don't move around as much..

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could give you help..

Talking about craving fried chicken which your rarely ate....

I have craved Taco Bell for the last 14 months and hardly ever ate the stuff and didn't care for it when I did. Someone should do a study odd cravings that come from healthy eating..

I've managed to stave off the cravings though...

That is so funny about cravings. Mine also was Taco Bell Gellar! I ate there once a year at best, when you could still get a $0.39 taco. That was a long time ago, but I craved it!.

Sarge, as far as goal weight goes, I agree with Mike. Set a goal and see how it goes. We are men and we can handle it. You do not have the muscle mass you had in the Marines, just as I don't when I played football and played Army! Go for it and stick to the plan. Eat a lot of veggies and drink more water than you think you can. Initially, you will be peeing like a race horse, but it sure helps to shed the weight...

Oh....panTRY! Sorry about that. Misread.....

I didn't find actual cravings although after being off Nutrisystem for about 6 months I wanted a "real" grilled hotdog so bad that I finally gave in and grilled them one weekend..

As far as regular cravings, no..

Goals? Well, to me they are works in progress. I wanted to "lose 25 lbs or more" initially. I did that in just over 2 months. Then I thought, "heck, why not 40? I'm still too fat!". And I hit that in under 4 months..

Then I decided I could go down to 200 even without NS.....okay, that one I'm not doing so great on (lol)..

About 10 lbs to go (depending upon the day) and I don't have quite the protein and fiber load off of Nutrisystem that I had using their food. But it's going okay..

A year out from starting 4 months on Nutrisystem I'm still feeling great and in control..

As for the Nutrisystem foodyou like it more than I did. I gave it about a C+ as far as most of the entrees. But I considered most of them edible and only a few really good. Though that sausage and rice thing was pretty phenomenal for me.

Keep doing what your doing and keep in touch on the boards. For those of us older guys hanging around, I think I speak for all of us when I say "for christsakes man if you're going on panty raids give us a call or at least get pictures!!".

Yeah, that damn shrimp burrito on the TV keeps callin my name. I know it's sheet, it has to be, shrimp at taco bell. Oh well, I'm much better without it...

Thanks for the replies. I was having kind of a bad week last week (mentally) and it felt good to vent a little. I am doing much better this week..

If I go on any "panty" raids I will make sure to send out the invites and take plenty of pics. (as long as my wife says it's okay.

We could be twins, sort of (and I already have one)..but reading your post hit home...totally get the gym thing - I put my ipod on which motivates me to move and then listen the entire way to the gym and of course while I am there..

Your current weight and goal are very similair to mine, which is why I said twins.......I totally get it. I feel that 200 for my body type is what I call "painfully thin" and I think people will look at me and think, "is he sick or something", but that's what I set for a goal and will re look at it once I get some of first part of my weight off and then adjust if I need to..

Best of luck on your journey - I have done Yoga before and enjoyed it A LOT!.

I felt so much better doing the strenches and felt great because I was limber..

Regarding getting into weight training, does your gym have any classes that use weights? My gym has a class that does strength training with barbells and weights and it is fast paced so it is aerobic too. I find that having a scheduled class to get to gives me the motivation I need, as opposed to coming up with a workout plan myself and moping around the gym trying to think of what to do next..

Obligatory Men's room remark: plus most of the classes are full of hot chicks...
