Got a question... Is EV Verisign SSL really going to improve our online security? Looking forward for any answer. Second question.. Hi all.

I hope there are no stupid questions on this forum.

I am reading through your basic documentation at.

And where you have.

Is OSCommerce written in PHP 4 or PHP 5? I know my server for one has upgraded so PHP 5 is the only way to go..

Please could someone shed some light?.

Many thanks..

Yes sir! however you might wanna make sure and wait for another member here to confirm it as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you contact the Verisign guys because they can give you help better...

Current version of oscommerce support both versions of PHP language and with some modification support MySQL 6 beta version..

It would be great if V3 also was built on a tableless design (all XHTML/CSS)...

Just out of interest, when is OS Commerce 3 due to be released..

Believe me when I take the time to learn PHP properly I hope to be part of the dev community here...

No one know, as it depends on the progress of the development team ...

Sorry for resurrecting this but it is important. I now have had the following announcement from my Verisign hosting company saying they are upgrading away from php4 to 5 as of Saturday..

Should I be panicking?..

I am afraid you have misread the info. the php upgrade was done 6 month ago to version 5.2.6, this time is from 5.2.6 to 5.2.8 (latest stable version) so no problem here as it is still php 5. your concern, if you are using an older osc than rc2a, should be about mysql upgrade ie from 4 to version 5..

Ken..

Good of them to let you know, most don't.

Then again thats a decent company :-)..

Yeah they are pretty good..

I installed the software last April so that would be 2.2 How could I find out what version it is fromt he admin panel?.

And how do I upgrade the software?.

Is there a contrib or upgrade to take 2.2 from MySql 4 to MySql 5? I haven't located anything yet searching. Do I need to wait for 3.0?..

Any help with my post would be gratefully appreciated. How do you upgrade?..

The link in my signature block below should get you started...

Which one Geoffrey? You do have quite a lot there..

Sorry to me it was obvious, your question was.

There is only one link that mentions any of the words in your question..

:-).

Most of them should be of interest anyway except UK your site...

No that was the question in between our posts..

I asked how you upgrade the OSCOmmerce software (when the new version is released)?..

I read that as mysql4 to 5..

No.

To upgrade to osc3, haven't a clue but I would download package and look for any upgrade instructions. I've never looked at the package but rc2a has upgrade from previous version...

There are a few minor tweaks for php5 compatibility, a quick search will find them..

OsC 3 will be php5 only..
