Got a question... I would like to know why I have lost my Verisign SSL server? Thanks for any response. Another quick question... Hi guys,.

I have a problem I am hoping you can help me solve. Servage ended up being a horrible host so I've gone over to dreamhost. Here are the steps I took to transfer my Verisign site to the host..

First thing I did was to export my SQL database..

On the new host, I created a new database and imported the same data, no problems there..

I downloaded every file from my old host and uploaded them to the new host. No problem..

I changed the include/config.php (or is it configure.php?) to show the new database and the new root paths, everything is correct in there..

I made sure that the configure.php file is chmodded to 444 as the script suggested I do..

All in all, the Verisign site works fine from a customers point. When I try and go to /admin it sits there a few moments and then gives me a 500 server error so I am unable to add products or do anything else with my site..

I really don't want to do a full new install, I know I can keep all my product indormation, but I have installed a lot of new contributions on the Verisign site and would have to do all that over again. If you have any experience in this, PLEASE, help me..

Thank you!..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at Verisign as they probably can help you..

Ken, thanks for the quick reply. I have tried /index.php to the same results. I have made sure all of my directories are chmodded 755 as well, so that shouldn't be an issue..

Is config.php in catalog/include/ the only file that points to the server you're using? Or does the installation information go into multiple files? If anyone knows this, it may point me in the right direction. I have done a quick search of all the files in /include for anything that says servage in it but couldn't find any in there..

As to dreamhost, I haven't been with them long enough to know if they're pretty good or not, all I know is that the 5 years I was with servage, it was a nightmare, multiple hacking problems (them, not my account) which ended up leading to a ton of javascript injections, even a couple of times where people have gained full access to my cpanel and made their own ftp accounts and worse. They've refused to admit to anything each time it's happened. I'm just glad to be changing hosts..

I found the answer in a different thread, it just wasn't labeled so I could find it in a search.

Anyhow, configure.php, BOTH of them, had to be edited, the one in /include and the one in /admin/include.

Now everything is up to par and working fine, thanks guys..

May I say that you did not know what you were talking about when you said and I quote:.

? people would assume you knew what you were doing and wouldnt forget there was one at admin. glad to hear it is now working though!.

Honestly thought I did know what I was doing. Can I ask, why is there a need for 2 config files? Couldn't all of the information in both simply be combined into one file?..

I suggest you give it go to combine the two into one and see if it is simpler or more complicated if possible at all (under the current osc 2.2 structure). no one ever attempt to do it asfar as I can tell..

No need to reinstall as the Verisign site is working as you said in your post. the problem is with the admin panel so focus should be on checking what may be wrong there. some host/server dont like /admin as it may be conflicting with some other functions on the server, ie, you must type in, eg, admin/index.php. ask the host to take a look if they are helpful. btw, dreamhost is not really a dream host or so as I have heard from this forum..
