Let's get ready to be our skinniest and best for the new year of 2011!! This challenge will run from today through the week of March 17.....St. Patrick's we have just about 4 weeks left to work hard and get ourselves eating better each day, as well as moving each day in some manner..

Please join us as we look ahead to a great upcoming year in 2011 and better health!! This is a place to make your goals for the next four weeks! Why not get support from one another as we journey through the next few months towards our ultimate goals..

The theme focuses upon this is the year that we will make the most of our efforts. For some, it will be reaching the goal and beginning to maintain. For others of us, it will earmark the reality that we are making significant progress and not letting excuses hold us back..

The rules are simple. Make your own goal about what you want to achieve between now and March 21st, 2011 and let us know what that is. Give a short introduction, so we can get to know you.....even the regulars!! Then come here often to let us know how you are doing, get support from the group and offer your support to other members. Other than weight loss, what have been some health benefits you have discovered?.

For me, I have discovered less back pain and less knee pain. Im now long overdue for a cortisone injection but that is because Im having far less inflammation and less pain. My lab tests, according to the doctor, says that I have the best triglyceride numbers he has seen in a long time..

Jean - thanks for starting the thread!.

That video is cool - I of course recognized the Biggest Loser theme but had never heard the whole song..

I lost 2 pounds last week which is good with me!.

I'm gradually remembering some of the "tricks" I learned before. Yesterday I had the pancakes with 1/2 a very ripe banana stirred into the batter. Great breakfast!.

I'm going to try mixing up my days a little this week and instead of counting my day's 8 oz of skim milk (which goes in my coffee throughout the day and sometimes on my oatmeal) as my breakfast protein I'm going to try counting it as my afternoon protein. See how having a protein at breakfast makes me feel throughout the day..

I know I'll be able to do a lot more when I lose this weight. I know that from experience. I haven't really noticed anything yet but I know it will come. I also hope my glucose levels will drop back into the normal range. They're barely elevated so hopefully I've caught it in time...

Maryanne, if you are moving your breakfast protein/dairy to the afternoon, this means that you depriving yourself of a nutrient that has long lasting power to keep you from getting hungry. Since you already have an afternoon dairy/protein in the plan, it seems as if it would be better to postpone the protein/dairy to mid-morning. This would ensure from frequent meals that would keep the energy at a more uniform level..

Like you, I have never heard the full song. I thought it was interesting to hear the full Biggest Loser theme. Congrats upon the two pound loss!..

Jean great job on starting the new thread this week. I'm still chugging along trying to meet my goal for this challenge of losing 8 pounds and doing 70 hours of exercise. I originally set the goal of 60 hours but met that this week, so I've increased it to 70 hours but that may be too low as well. I'll increase it again if I hit 70 hours and still have a couple of weeks to go..

I'm hoping to eliminate my blood pressure medication the next time I see my MD. I'm on a very low dose diuretic for BP, so I'm hoping that losing more than 20 pounds will be enough to let me stop taking this drug. I also hope to see continued improvement in all my cholesterol numbers. I definitely have more stamina and energy now, so that's a big improvement for me...

I have not noticed anything yet. But I can tell you I look forward to being able to get up off the floor a bit easier. I play on the floor with my nephews and getting back up can get hard. Also tying my shoes can be difficult sometimes. Makes me feel so old. I have enjoyed the fact that I seem to have more energy.

I am at work so I have not gotten to watch the video but I plan to when I get home..

Jean, thank you for starting the challenge this week. I like the touches you added! I've noticed that I have a lot more energy and am generally more active than I was before. Things like shoveling all the snow we had this winter were a lot easier without the extra pounds! And thanks for sharing that video..

OWI for me today - down 2 pounds. The scale had been stuck at last week's weight all week and then finally dropped today..

Got in an extra long workout today ( about 2 hours) and then shoveled snow for 45 mins to an hour, but with a few breaks, so I'll call it 30 mins). Bet I'm gonna feel that tomorrow..

Hope you're all having a good day - I'm enjoying a holiday from work, but it's back to routine tomorrow...

We are expecting snow tonight. I am not looking forward to that. I had hoped to get to the gym today but I did not want to get out of my bed this morning and the cat has a vet appt tonight. I gotta get a work out video or something to do at home..

Walmart has a selection of exercise videos including Leslie Sansone for $9 to $10. It also sells arm weights if you like to use those for extra impact when doing walking...

Hi guys!! Hope everyone had a great weekend. OK ... so the new challenge that ends on March 21, which is a little less then a month away ... I'd really really like to be 135 so that is the goal I am setting for myself here..

Some benefits since I lost weight ... well I just feel better ... I'm sure you can all understand that. I have more confidence when I am out. I'm not worried about running into anyone and feeling like I just look like a blob...

Karen, more confidence is a product of knowing you are accomplishing something many find difficult...and that is lose of weight. It also results in increased self esteem. That in turn motivates us to continue our efforts...

Wonderful job, you two!!! Congratulations on both losing 2 lbs!!.

I have been very lazy today - we had the worst "winter storm" I ever remember. There had to be over a foot of snow on my car. First time ever that I had to use a snow shovel to get the snow off the roof of my car! Anyway, after digging my car out I suddenly realized that if my driveway was like that, there was no way I was going to make it into and out of the church parking lot, so I stayed home from work today. Luckily, Monday is my quietest day. I think the snow may have stopped, but it is still blowing a lot - another strange thing as Fairbanks is not known for wind (we live in a "bowl"). They are saying it will all be over by 6 p.m.

PS, Jean, I agree with you on the title of the challenge. Thanks for starting us off this morning!..

We got some snow last night. I wish for once it would snow on a weekend when I didn't have to wake up and go shovel. Still keeping my fingers crossed for spring to arrive soon. I am hoping to make it to the gym after work..

So I am trying to find new vegetables since I have been on the diet about a month and need some variety. Anyone have those green giant individual steam fresh veggies? I have been getting the plain ones but can I get some of the ones that have rosemary and EVOO?..

, I use those Green Giant Baby Vegetable Medley steamer bags which are contained in a box. There is a variety and quite tasty; I think there are 3 servings in a bag which makes it perfect for dinner. There is also the Green Giant Garden vegetable medley but these contain potatoes and are much higher calorie per serving. Walmart has it's Great Value version of them also. I like to use the steamer bags myself from the frozen food section...

YUP those are the ones I am talking about. I had the cauliflower and cheese one last night. I was not sure if the cheese was super bad or not. It actually doesn't have too many calories. And it's the only way they have the cauliflower...

We may not be talking about the same Green Giant selection as it makes a variety of veggies. This is the Green Giant Baby Vegetable Medley. It comes with cauliflower, snap peas and baby carrots and has a seasoning but it isn't cheese. It is a little higher in calories at 40 calories per serving but far less than the version that has potatoes...the Green Giant Garden Vegetable has potatoes in in...

4 Reasons Diets Fail.

So many of the weight loss clients I've worked with one-on-one in my New York City practice admit to being professional dieters. They've tried every weight loss plan, scheme, and promise under the sun and failed miserably over and over again. And 9 times out of 10, their attempts flop because of oneor some combinationof the four reasons I discuss below. That being said, awareness is key and if you know what mistakes to watch out for, you're already a step ahead of the pack. Here's what you need to knowand can doto immediately boost your chance of long-term success..

Reason #1: You're not fully committed..

I always tell clients at our first session together: Weight loss is at least 50 percent attitude. If you're not truly ready to make a full-time commitment to losing weight, chances of long-term success are pretty slim. That's because when efforts are half-hearted from the get-go, people typically lose interest in their diet soon after they start. The sad truth is, it's not really worth starting a weight loss program if your head isn't in the game..

How to Prevail:.

My best advice is to do some serious soul-searching and identify a significant and enduring source of personal motivation for finally shedding the extra weight. Maybe it's to better manage health conditions... or to be around for your kids and grandkids... or to finally feel more comfortable in your own skin and boost your energy level..

The bottom line is that this motivation has to come from within YOU. Then, strengthen your resolve and recharge your motivation every single day with positive self talk and daily or weekly goals. I think long term goals are terrific, but short term goals can be even more powerful because they reinforce success every step of the way..

Reason #2: You expect miracles..

Individuals who launch a new diet with unreasonable expectations regarding how much weight they're going to lose each weekor who have an unrealistic goal weight in mindare signing themselves up for trouble. If you can't match your desired pace of weight loss, you'll more than likely end up terribly disappointed and quickly jump ship..

How to Prevail:.

Though you'll probably see a dramatic drop on the scale during the first few weeks on a new diet, most people eventually average out at a loss of one to three pounds per week for the duration of their plan. And if they do shed pounds more quickly than thatsay, by fasting for long stretches of timethey're more likely to gain the weight back... and then some..

I know television shows and infomercial success stories lead you to believe that you can melt off fat in a matter of weeks, but the truth is, successful weight loss is a slow and steady process. If you can accept this fact and buckle down for the long haul, you will ultimately be handsomely rewarded with better health, a smashing figure, and newfound confidence..

Reason #3: Your plan isn't sustainable..

If you're following an extreme weight loss plan that doesn't even slightly resemble "normal" eating, there's a good chance your efforts won't last. And, in my opinion, subsisting entirely on shakes, smoothies, cookies, or tonics isn't normal eating. When you view a diet as a short-term deviation from your typical eating habits, rather than a long-term lifestyle change, you will almost certainly have a hard time maintaining your weight loss..

How to Prevail:.

A diet should be based on appropriate amounts of healthy foods that keep you feeling satisfied and energizednot cranky and deprived. Most importantly, a diet should be viewed as a launching pad for a long-term lifestyle change. That's because to lose weight and keep it off forever, you really will have to permanently change your eating habits. With that in mind, it's important to choose an eating plan that you can easily transition into lifetime maintenance..

And while I can appreciate how provocative some of these quick-fix, restrictive diet plans can be, they truly are a set-up for failure and yo-yo dieting. Without fail, every restrictive plan has a calorific binge waiting right around the corner. Not the way to go for long term success. Instead, a food plan you can stick with for life is key..

Reason #4: You can't forgive your slip-ups..

This is an incredibly common diet pitfall. When people inevitably give into temptation and subsequently "fall of the wagon" for one meal or one day, they tell themselves they've blown their diet and throw in the towel for good. To be successful, you have to learn to overcome these temporary setbacks. You can't let one binge or one "off day" turn into a full week, or month, of splurging. Unfortunately, it can be incredibly difficult for some individuals to break this cycle of negative thinking..

How to Prevail:.

Don't dwell on your mistakes. Instead, shake it off and get right back on track at your very next meal... or the very next day. And always remember, nobody gains weight from one rich dinner or a single slice of cake. The real trouble starts when you allow that one "splurge" to snowball into an all-out eating frenzy. Take it one meal at a time and learn to forgive yourself; every dieter has slip-ups, but the successful ones know how to keep those occasional lapses contained..

If you have cable or satelite, you should check the on demand offerings. Also, there are a number of Zumba routines on You Tube if you do a search. That way you may be able to try something new without having to go out and buy something. The other alternative is to try your local library. If you find something you really like, you can always buy a copy..

Thanks Jean. I think Target has similar pricing, and if you've got a Costco, I've picked up DVDs for around $8, but that's hit or miss - sometimes they don't have any exercise ones at all..

Not much new here today. Amazingly, I was not actually really sore from yesterday's crazy amount of exercise, so I was able to get 50 minutes of Sports Active 2 in today before I had to start working. It was cold today, but at least the sun was out again - at one point I'd heard we were supposed to have more snow last night, but luckily we did not..

Just checking in. Someone plowed the church parking lot today, except close to the building where they could not get large equipment, so I parked a bit away. Someone with a snow shovel was starting to clear close to the building as I left, so maybe it will be better tomorrow morning. The main roads have all been cleared, and my daughter's boyfriend did clear my driveway today, so we are just waiting for our side road to be done, and enough driving on it has packed the snow pretty well. Hi well I learnt that my on line planner was set to something different than the womens diabetic plan so iwas eating all wrong grrrr,, so they told me how to change it,, then I bought new scales yesterday and it shows a differet weight not sure if the old ones were wrong or not so starting again today,, also fighting a cold,, wish me luck......

One of the frustrating things about getting new scales is that they rarely weigh the same as the old. Now, that you have a new scale, use it as a sign of new motivation. Colds make it more difficult, so hang in there and follow the plan for you..

Today was my OWI and I lost 1.2 pounds! I was expecting it to be the same as last week or even a bit higher, so I am happy! I thought I had been gaining and losing the same 1.5 pounds for the past 3 weeks, but apparently something shifted in the last 2-3 days. Whatever it was, I'll take it!..

Actually, when I went back and looked at the graph of my weight, I realized that I lost the 1.2 pounds that I was up last week. So for the last 3-4 weeks I've been gaining and losing the same 1.2 pounds. This week was on the loss side of the scale, but with vacation starting on Saturday, I expect that the next weigh in won't be pretty. Frustrating, but I haven't stayed 100% on plan for the past month either, so it's not that big of a surprise...

Pam, a loss is a loss. Vacations can create problems so I hope you don't have too much damage..

I think I'm in one of my infamous stalls. It is hard to keep going when that happens, but try I will..

MyNutrisystem35 day plan was picked up by UPS today...a day after they were expected to pick it up. I'll get it tomorrow afternoon as it is only takes one day once UPS picks it up..

We have flash floor warnings for tomorrow, so I may or may not get a shipment tomorrow...

I got my shipment today. I was missing two items and they shipped me two things that were not on my menu at all. And then they substituted soemthing for popcorn which was my favorite dessert. But at least I am back to more choices for lunch a nd dinner. I was down to just a few things left..

I actually took a class tonight at the gym. I did zumba. It was fun. I hope I brave it again..

I think they only substitute when they are out of something, but if it's something you know you don't like call and they will probably agree to let you return it for something else..

Good for you for going to the gym tonight! I know a lot of people who love the Zumba classes. I took a few of them a couple of years ago but hurt my back and couldn't continue. It was fun until then, though!..

Glad you got your BBB - mine is due next week. Any time I have gotten something I did not like or order, they sent me what I really wanted when I complained - I suspect it came from another warehouse that was not out of it. They have never made me send anything back; they just say to keep it...

I'm off to work again today but could easily stay at home. I need my batteries recharged..

MyNutrisystem35 day program is being loaded on the UPS truck for local delivery as I type this. It will be waiting for me by the time I get home. It was picked up in the PA distribution center yesterday at Noon..

We are expecting a bad storm with several inches of rain. As a result, we have flash flood warnings out. I may not be able to go to the city tomorrow to have lunch with a friend. I usually get blocked twice a year by water..

I've had my Kashi Go Lean and my bag is packed with appropriate goodies. Now, I just have to put the finishing touches on me..

Other than weight loss, what have been some health benefits you have discovered?.

As I started to lose over 30lbs I started to notice how easier it was to walk. I started to walk faster and my breathing was a lot better. I also noticed my legs where losing fat because I was walking and working out at home (treadmill)..

Since gaining 30lbs out of the 60lbs I had lost, I can tell you.

Walking feels like it used to and I have a little shortness of breath again. So I need and want to continue to lose the weight because if feels really great on your body...

I went to a class tonight. I use to go back in Oct. It kicked my butt.I think I was able to more back then. Strange how in just a short amount of time you can loose your muscles..

, it doesn't take long at al for you to lose the muscle tone. We just don't notice it until we try an activity at our previous high level..

I'm having a major arthritis attack, something I haven't had for some time. I didn't sleep last night and I'm nice and puffy from fluid retention I get when this happens..

Want to help reduce the arthritis or head it off on your weight bearing joints?.

Being only 10 pounds overweight increases the force on the knee by 30-60 pounds with each step..

Jean I'm so sorry you're in pain with your arthritis. I hope you find some relief soon. It sounds like you've dealt with this before, so I'm sure you know what works best for you, but I hope you take it easy today and treat yourself well..

I think people are just busy and will come back to the thread when they can. I won't be able to start the thread next week because I'll be in Hawaii and don't plan to take a computer with me, so it'll be up to you or MaryAnn to get us started off..

On the plus side for me, though today isn't an OWI day, the scale was down .8 pounds finally! Too bad it will probably be up by that and more by the time I get back from my trip, but I won't worry about that now...

Christen thanks for the good wishes for my trip! It's my first time to go to Hawaii so I'm very excited..

By the way it is Jean who is having pain from arthritis. I do have some, but thankfully, it isn't bothering me now. You're very young to already have arthritis, as I'm sure you know. Did you have an injury that caused early onset or did you just get unlucky?.

As for lunch today, you might try to find some lean protein, such as turkey breast or grilled or baked chicken or fish to supplement your lunch, and any additional veggies you can find. I think it would probably be ok to eat a very small roll for the carb portion, if you can find one. Jean is really the expert on flex meals hopefully she'll see your question before lunchtime and give you some guidance. I know you really can't go wrong with lean proteins, though up to about 3 ounces, which is about 3-4 slices of turkey, or a portion about the size of a small deck of cards for other meats...

, I assume you are at work and have nothing but the salad. If you are near a Wendys, go and order an ultimate grill chicken sandwich with no sauce, etc. Take the chicken minus bun and add it to your salad or eat it plain. If you eat just the chicken, it is 130 calories. Add half of the bun for another 100 calories or 230 calories total. You can also buy a can of chicken packed in water at a supermarket, etc..

I always buy Pure Protein bars at Walmart in the 180 calorie variety which packs 20 grams of protein into the 180 calories. I always carry one in my handbag as a back up. These are less expensive than theNutrisystemfood bars and work very well...

Wish I had seen this post first. I was starving. I got food from Friday's. They had a light menu. I got grilled shrimp with Veggies. It was about 8 pieces of shrimp.

I only had a cheese stick for my breakfast protein. I had heard some peopel count that is half a protein and I figured you get a protein at lunch..

Hopefully I didn't mess up ~ but to be honest it was pretty good. I put the shrimp on my salad..

I'm here!! I had my OWI this morning and down 2#..

Yesterday was nuts. I had new carpet installed and a new sectional delivered, and my house was in complete disarray. I skipped quite a bit including lunch and a few add-ins because I couldn't get into my kitchen for hours!!! By the time my house was back to "normal" again, it was about 7pm and I wasn't going to eat 2 meals at that point. Today is a new day and it's nice having new "stuff". We also had snow so we are all home for the day. I'm enjoying it!..

This one time won't adversely affect you, unless it might be from sodium. Just drink some more water. You have some pointers for future use. Being prepared is the key. I have the best items fron the nutritional menus of nearly all the chain restaurants, so I know what to get in advance. For example, a bowl of pasta fagioli at the Olive Garden is better than it's salad when it comes to the total stats..

Congrats upon your weight loss. I think it would be exhausting to go through having the new carpeting installed with all the "mess" or disruption..

Jean - You talk about stats. Do you just go by the nutritional label? I thought that theNutrisystemmeals are higher in protein than usual stuff so I choose to find something I could find under protein..

I honestly don't get what the heck this program is about. I have been told that if you follow the diet you don't have to worry about calories BUT then the online meal planner trackers your calories..

Where can you learn about flexing meals?..

You go by the info on the nutritional labels. Yes,Nutrisystemhas much protein in it's entrees, some more than others but protein isn't the only thing you should check. Fats, sugar, sodium, etc. are considered.Nutrisystemisn't a calorie counting program but if you eat the way they design it, then your total day's calories should fall in line with what is shown on the website when you track it. The advantage of this is seeing what days are higher than others and the reasons. For example, in one day did you choose the highest caloried items for all the entrees instead of varying them..

It isn't a good idea to flex until you get the concept of nutritional info for theNutrisystemplan down pat as when you flex, you will choose foods that closely meet theNutrisystemstates..

I'll give you an example. The Fiber One muffin is very good but it is very low ini protein. If you chose it to subsitute for a breakfast, you would have to come up with an additional protein or dairy for that meal which adds to the calorie count for the meal..

This program is basically a low-glycemic program with empahsis on keeping the blood sugar levels uniform to keep from having spikes that trigger hunger. Some veggies are not permitted because they are not low glycemic..

Here is the basic nutritional info forNutrisystemwhich you can use to select entrees to match as closely as possible theNutrisystementree. Keep in mind that the info is for the entree only and does not include the add-ins..

Summary of Nutrisystem Entre Nutrition Stats (handy for restaurant selection).

Information below does not include add ins such as veggies and represents the average..

Breakfasts: 155 calories, 2.3 g fat, 26 g carb, 8.2 g protein, 180 mg sodium.

Lunches: 176 calories, 3.2 g fat, 27 g carb, 8.2 g protein, 493 mg sodium.

Dinners: 231 calories, 5.9 g fat, 27 g carb, 17 g protein, 620 mg sodium.

Desserts: 142 calories, 5 g fat, 16 g carb, 8 g protein, 160 mg sodium.

Breakfasts range from 120 to 200 calories; lunches range from 110 to 220 caloreis; dinners range from 150-304 calories. The protein for the breakfast entree is a minimum of 6gms and does not include the protein in the dairy/protein serving..

The biggest health improvement I have noticed is I no longer have chronic stomach aches, they were almost daily when I was eating junk food. I also sleep better and I am no longer out of breath by simply walking down the street..

My biggest challenge was exercise and it took me a month to get started but now I exercise 5 days a week so that is a major hurdle I have overcome..

I am also diabetic and can't wait to get off those stupid pills!.

I am hoping to lose 40lbs by my 50th birthday but I may be be expecting to much since I now have only 4 weeks and 3 days until that day. Have lost 25 so far and am wondering if 15 is unrealistic to ask for in 4 weeks may have to change that goal..

My St. Paddys goal is to be at 194 lbs..

I am planning on being at goal weight when I go on vacation next year and be able to move freely without the weight, that is so exciting!..

There are no dumb questions! OWI is Official Weigh In. Usually once a week. For some it will be their only weigh in - others peek every day or so, but only count the OWI..

I have psoriatic arthritis, osteo arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrom, and 3 disc replacements in my cervical spine. It has become not only a weight issue because I can't always move around as I'd like but it is a health issue as well. I want to make sure I have a healthy diet and hopefully it will raise some self-esteem,too. I have never found myself in a position where I couldn't take the weight off before but since I have good and tough times, I want to make sure that the rest of my systems are in good shape and that this program will offer success. I'm truly looking forward to it and I will let you know as I progress. It helps that my husband is understanding and supportive because he knows what my days can be like. I believe that this is an ideal option for me and will help me get back to eating in a healthy way, as I used to! Thanks for being here as support to people like myself!!! Terigw1..

I lost a pound a half this week. I am very pleased to be going down.I just really thought with exercise I would see a bigger change. I did read the post about the scale lies and I understand but sometimes you just want to know the pain was for something. I think I hurt my back the other night in class and now have back pain down into my hip and leg. Hoping I pulled something and it will go away soon..

I tried Jillian Michaels Meltdown Yoga last night (anyone else every try it) I say try because after falling over twice I gave up. I never thought saying in one position could be so hard it's not just strength but balance something I have lost with the weight gain..

Anyway today is another day.I plan to work out go to the grocery store and maybe babysit the nephews and see mega mind. Hope everyone has a great sat. I can't help but be a little jealous of Pam and Hiwaii as I look out my window..

TheNutrisystemprogram isn't about counting calories. They offer the calorie tracker is an extra tool for people who want it. It's not an integral part of the ns program. Sometimes I think that having that tracker available just confuses people at first. Later on you may want or need to check your calories but I'd get the program basics down first. And that's the basic "fill in the circles in your planner and once they are all filled in stop eating for the day". Once that becomes as natural as breathing you can worry about other things...

I was a bit down early but I had a fantastic day. today I was able to do four miles at the gym. I deffinitely couldn't do that a month ago. And for the first time going to the grocery story wasn't scary. I didn't even have to advoid any ailse for fear of seeing something I would want and not be able to have. I think the thing I can say that has changed this past month is my attitude.

Welcome! This is a great group for support. I would like to comment upon the health issues..

I have osteoarthritits of the spine and knees. It is definitely a health issue. For each ten pounds you are overweight translates into the equivalent of about 40 extra pounds on weight bearing joints. I've lost over 40 pounds and my back pain has really diminished. I had to get cortisone injections for my knee; I'm long overdue for one but as I lost weight, I needed them less and less..

This is a healthy program designed around making sure that you incorporate the best of the healthy food groups. Don't be intimidated by those who spend enormous amounts of time doing exercise. Your mission right now is to reduce calories to lose some weight..

Get a pedometer and measure how many steps a day you are now taking. Set a goal of adding 100 steps a day for the first week; then for the second week, add another 100 steps, etc. At the end of the first month, see how you feel and try to increase some more. The baby steps count and do help prepare you for more later on...

Congrats upon your weight loss. Be patient! (talking to self also). It wasn't gained overnight, so it won't be lost overnight. I do understand the exercise issue. I remember the time I exercised big time everyday and gained weight. There are some who do not exercise a couple of days before weigh in just in case the exercise is causing the muscles to re tain water..

You are a very young 60+ in that picture. Good health habits agree with you!.

They talk about NSV's or non-scale victories. Just look at all you have accomplished in the month.....and why? Attitude and mindset is important on this journey to better health! "Skipping" is good for your health..physical and mental...

What a day I had,, today was my weigh in and oh no gained again.. so stressed for a while then spoke to NS,, went through my menu planner and yep doing everything perfectly,, so then I spoke to a medical consultant,, yep SODUIM intake with all the meds I take I needed to adjust my food to lower sodium so redid mmy next menu changed back to basic diabetic, then had to go through the food to send back all the self food that was too high for me.. and pick some replacement meals. cos there isnt a lot to pick from but at this stage I dont care I just want to lose the weight...

But in all that everyone atNutrisystemhas been awesome helping me today after 4 calls we got it right.. so IM keeping my fingers crossed we have it right now....

Hurray for 1.5 lbs lost! It may seem small, but adds up over time. And it sounds like a trip to the chiropractor may be in order. It is amazing what a little pinched nerve can do, and how easily it can be fixed..

Oh sorry no the meds are arent helping with water,,, I am retainig too much water,, and meds along with insulin are not helping...

I sent the food back because I want this to work and I have already to eat the frozen selection I have so the sooner I get off the high soduim the better for me,, they are sending new food out already worked out was easy enough to do and the piece of mind it is giving me is worth it this morning already I have dropped 2lbs..

This has not been a good week for me. I'm really having problems with fluid retention. Yesterday, I could not wear a ring that I wore easily when I weighed more than 20 pounds more. It is either a result of an arthritis attack or theNutrisystemdesserts which I started eating again this past week. I have fluid retention when I eat cookies, etc. from the store but I also get fluid retention when I have an arthritis attack...

So it says you can have salsa (low sodium) I have looked everywhere and can not find low sodium salsa. I bought some in the produce section. Its actually no sauce and very spicy. I am hoping this ok cause I love salsa and would love to use it.

This is acceptable; no, that isn't a high sodium count. One serving of Oikus greek yogurt has 50 mg of sodium. TheNutrisystemnacho chips, for comparison, have 330 mg of sodium...

I guess I'm lucky that the only medication I was ever on that impacted my weight was synthroid and that impacted in a positive direction. The years I was on that I could eat literally anything. Wonderful stuff! Unfortunately little miss I'm my worst enemy here finally convinced the doctor that it wasn't doing me any good (other than being able to eat anything) and got him to take me off it...

I just conducted an interesting experiment. I took my Omron handy dandy measures everything, highly rated pedometer and wore it while I did a Leslie Sansone walk with weights. At the end of one mile, I had 743 steps, none of which were aerobic, and had burned 16 calories...

Gwennie, you have a great attitude. Should boredom begin to set in, you might want to explore flex options for a meal to provide some variety yet still meet your guidelines..

I've read that you start to lose muscle tone in less than a week if you stop exercising (I want to say it was about 4 days, but can't recall exactly - I just remember it was a shockingly short amount of time. Good for you for starting that class again!.

Jean, I'm sorry to hear that your arthritis is acting up - I hope you feel better quickly..

Pam, Congrats on the additional .8 pounds!.

Christen, You can use some of the nutrition bars that you can get at the grocery store or pharmacy. I've used the Zone Perfect Fudge Graham bar (and a few of their others). Stats are a little higher than theNutrisystembars, but pretty close. There are some others that can work - some of the Luna bars and the Pure Protein bars. I actually keep an extraNutrisystemlunch bar, Trader Joe's fruit bar (I think the name is Fibreful), and a protein bar (chocoliate protein bars) just in case I forget to bring a fruit, meal bar, or protein with me one day..

Congrats on the loss this week - great job! Hope you're feeling better now. I have not tried that DVD yet. Hope you enjoy it - I find that I have to do some of the several times before I have a shot at keeping up. And the balance stuff is much harder than I expect it to be - every time I try!.

Gwennie, I hope they were able to get everything sorted out for you. I know sodium is really tough to watch, esp with some of theNutrisystementrees. And I'm shocked to see how much there can be in add-ins, too. I have not tried this, but someone posted that using a wedge of lemon in their water has helped with water retention. Not sure if that conflicts with any of your meds (I know grapefruit can be a problem with some, not sure about lemon), you may want to give that a try if it does not..

Jean, that is pretty cool - but I'm thinking you must have missed typing a digit in the calories. I bought a hear rate monitor at the beginning of Feb, and it's been really interesting to track the stats from that. It shows how long you exercise, how much of that time is in fat burning mode vs fitness (aerobic conditioning) mode, estimated calories burned, average heart rate and max heart rate. Really interesting to see the variation from day to day doing the same DVD, among other things..

Jean, May 30 is Memorial day, so maybe a ten week challenge with something about the unofficial start of summer? Or 12 with a summer theme? I'll try to give some thought to names, but it's never been my strong suit...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I finally caught up on the posts and saw I was around even less than I'd thought this week. Hopefully this next week will be less busy so I can drop in more often..

Got lots of exercise in today - did my SA2 Wii game for 70 minutes and an abs DVD for 30 mintues. Then grabbed a shower and breakfast (ok, so it was really time for brunch, but that's ok). Then went ice skating with my sister and nephews. That was a lot of fun. I think I hadn't been on skates for at least 18 years, maybe a little longer. It was a lot of fun.

I managed to not fall the whole time, either..

Unfortunately, I have to go do some work now to have something ready for an early meeting tomorrow. But at least I can work from home today and tomorrow, too...

I'm having the cheese ravioli for dinner with steamed veggies. I'm debating getting a FitBit which has less features than a Body Bugg as it supposedly measures movement in several directions, etc. It certainly costs less than a Body Bugg and has great reviews. The question becomes would it be a wasted expense. The Omron is great in many ways but I don't think it was designed to measure the equivalent of exercise video steps. I like it because you can tuck it in the bra and it still measures steps...
