Got a question... I need a list of foods I can eat for the 'Eat Clean' lifestyle/Dukan Diet? Many thanks for any answer. Second question.. I made the cream cheese pastry yesterday with the pancake mix and added the splenda to the pancake mix and the creamcheese mixture. All I could taste was the splenda. Is there another way to sweeten these recipes without artificial sweetners? I've tried most of them and Splenda was my preferred, but I don't like the aftertaste.

Smiles, Cyndi..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at Dukan Diet as they probably can answer it..

I love Stevia! It does have an after taste, but it's worth it... if you knew what splenda and equal turn into when heated!.

Bad chemicals for the bod. Stevia is very good for diabetics as it doesn't raise the blood sugar levels...

Could Stevia be found in most grocery stores? If so, where would they be by?..

I have found it at Whole Foods and Kroger. Not sure what part of the world you live in. SweetLeaf is the name I use, you may want to google them to find selling locations. The Stevia Plus also adds fiber...

My grocery store has a health food dept and I've seen it there..

Health food stores are the best place to find it, but it isn't cheap. I've been told though that you only need a very small amount to sweeten with, so it goes a long way...

I only use stevia, I buy the plus kind that includes fiber. I don't know about cooking with it though. Splenda in the past has made me feel ill. So kind of afraid to use it. I see it used a lot though in the recipes especially the baking pancake mix recipes. I am hoping I can use it to bake. I can only find it in the health food store but I am sure you can order it online...

I ran across an article the other day about Xylitol. It's supposed to be a natural sweetener a member of the family of sugar alcohols Dukan Diet uses and can substitute for sugar in recipes on a one-to-one ratio. I've never tried it, never looked for it, don't know enough to recommend it, just thought I'd throw it out there in case you wanted to do some research...

I use Whey Low and the taste is very similar to regular sugar in fact my DH can't tell that I use it in things whereas he could when I used Splenda. The Whole Foods stores in the east are starting to carry it, but I have to order mine..

They also have powdered sugar and brown sugar...

Suzanne Somers sells a sweetner on HSN called Somersweet. I like it..

I found STEVIA in my grocery store right next to the splenda and other sweeteners...

I live in southern Maryland where you can buy Stevia spring through late summer in the herb section of our local nursery; grow it on your window sill. Bernie..

You could try Stevia, but if you don't like the taste of Splenda, I think Stevia has an even more distinct taste...

Use a spoonful of real sugar which clocks in at 16 calories. It counts as a free food...

I like agave nectar, which is low-GI and natural, but it has calories. Good for sweetening up something like a tomato sauce, but too many calories for baking, I guess. For baking, I still like the brown splenda a lot. It is super-sweet, so can be used in very small quantities, and has no aftertaste. It adds a bit of the maple flavor, so does not fit with all dishes....

At walmart, I also found a sugar-free honey. Love it! It's great to use in yoghurts, a balsamic vinaigrettes, etc...
