I got a quick question: I just sold a domain. How do I transfer it from my yahoo account to another yahoo account, or even g?.

I also got another question: This event begins Tuesday, December 4th in Las Vegas..

The LIVE auction will be held on Wednesday, December 5th.

The SILENT auction will begin on December 5th and conclude on December 13th..

The auction inventory list has not been published yet..

When it is published, you can download it here - http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/au...auction_id=184.

Good luck to all NPers with domains being considered for inclusion in these auctions...

Your question was: I just sold a domain. How do I transfer it from my yahoo account to another yahoo account, or even g?.

Very upsetting that Moniker has not made the list public yet! What a JOKE! Man I wish I did not submit my domains. GRRRRRR..

I am beginning to develop the same sentiments. They encourage you to set low reserves to get in the auction, don't advertise, and the auction becomes a blood bath for the sellers...

Is it possible to *remove* domains from an auction PRIOR to the release of the master auction list without getting penalized big bucks?.

Marc..

Everyone should sign up for the auction and pay the fee, as there is surely to be some great deals on some killer names..

Moniker has an exclusive agreement, so NO you can not remove any HostGator you have submitted. Plus you have to ASK for it to be removed After the auction if it does not sell. I think it's like 30-60 days After the auction that Moniker still has the rights to sell the domain...

I knew about the exclusivity agreement. It doesn't apply if you are not selected into the auction. So I guess I was asking *before* this selection is made, do I have any ability to say "please do not select my names for the master auction list", thereby self-eliminating myself from further consideration?.

I guess I am thinking more about pulling my names from the next TRAFFIC auction. I would not try to sell them in another venue, just pull them and sit on them as opposed to selling cheap. Again, this is *prior* to master auction list selection.

Marc..

I believe you can request that your submissions be withdrawn prior to publication of the master list without penalty. I think you are bound to the TOS upon selection into the auctions, and as of now, your names have not yet been selected. Why hurry though, at this rate, you'll have til next week to withdraw!..

From Monikers Agreement:.

1. TERM OF THE AGREEMENT: Seller grants Buyer/Seller Agent the exclusive right and authority to sell the Name(s) for one hundred and twenty (120) calendar days from the date of submitting/declaring one of the Name(s) on the ADDENDA to this Agreement or sixty (60) days from the conclusion of the first auction taking place after the submission/declaring of the Name(s) on the ADDENDA, whichever occurs later (the Exclusive Sale Period). The ADDENDA to this Agreement shall consist of, but are not limited to, those items submitted by Seller for selection and acceptance by Buyer/Seller Agent to secure purchasers. This exclusive right and authority to sell period will automatically renew at the end of each term unless Buyer/Seller Agent is notified by Seller in writing within 15 days of expiration that Seller is terminating the Agreement. Once a Name is submitted by Seller, whether by ADDENDA or otherwise, the Name becomes subject to this Agreement, whether or not Seller is notified that the Name has been selected for the auction. If, however, Buyer/Seller Agent notifies Seller that a Name has not been selected for auction, Seller will be permitted to withdraw the Name from submission...

Thanks for the correction. It's all the more reason to pay their FEE and join the bidding and pick up some cheap bargains...

Of course if everybody did this then it would be a great auction for sellers!.

Marc..

On top of the thousands of attendees at the conference, the silent could be a nice surprise. I just don't get the lack of effort into this auction. Looking at the schedule at PubCon, domains and their importance in marketing seems to be a topic of emphasis. Why then would Moniker not put more effort into this event. Is the Webmasterworld conference not as popular as it appears? With such major sponsors and keynote speakers, I got the impression this was the conference to be at if you are doing business on the internet...

I have done business on the internet since 1996 without attending a conference... I was thinking about going to one of these just for fun though.

I was kind of thinking about going to the Vegas TRAFFIC auction next year just to meet a few people face to face. I live there part time so this would be a good candidate for me to attend. My guess is that the human networking part is the most important part of the conference.

As for pulling names from a particular auction, I suppose asking nicely might be productive. If everybody agrees to changes in the terms of a contract then no problem. I am undecided at this point whether I want to pull things. I have asked to have one name pulled in the past when several others were submitted.

Marc..

If you ask your rep to withdraw some of your names before the list is posted, they may honor your request with no penalty. It can't hurt to ask.

I, too, have never attended any of the conferences but will be in Las Vegas in mid-Jan so I plan to stop by the Internext auction at the Palms. I have requested and been invited to the TRAFFIC event in February and have not decided whether I will attend yet...

The auction list has not been posted by Moniker yet and the auction is one week away (next Wednesday, Dec 5). If anyone notices the list posted, please post the news here...

Auction list is up and what a list. Moniker will probably break all records with this auction. Alot of high priced real estate, but, weren't alot of these passed on before?..

Well it looks like I have 3 domains that made it. (EDIT) So Far! Not sure if they are Live or Silent auctions.

#320 ConsumerDefense.com.

#563 FullTimeMother.com.

#746 Managed.org Just got an email from my rep that stated. "That is a starter list. It has 1183 names on it. We always take 3000 names to auction."..

I noticed the list seemed unusually short for such a big event. I will frequently check for list updates and post any changes here...

My Moniker rep just asked permission to add some of my names that didn't sell in GEO...told him yes. I hadn't submitted any to this auction, but now I have an interest in it...

At least they asked!!! This auto-sweep can be dangerous. I submitted some domains to multiple auctions. Each auction had it's own different reserve level for that auction. While a low reserve might be ok at one auction, it could be a disaster at another auction.

Marc..

I haven't heard any reference to "auto-sweep" before? What is the process?.

-Bill..

Hope it goes well for everyone, but have my doubts as I've heard from so many buyers that they will not pay just for the privilege to bid...

A lot of the domains for pubcon were swept from all previous auctions. My account rep asked if I wanted that and described the process in a general mailing to his customers. I replied that I definitely did NOT want to be automatically swept into pubcon.

It happened in another auction (Macau) to me described here: http://www.namepros.com/392818-macau...-posted-4.html.

In the Macau auction two of my domains were automatically submitted from previous auctions without asking me to do this. I am fine with it for Macau since I did not tell my rep to NOT automatically sweep into future auctions. I did say to NOT do this for pubcon, since I didn't want my high-end traffic domains swept into the pubcon auction.

Marc..

I agree, I think it is a major stumbling block and needs to be resolved quickly.

A successful auction will surely outweigh the registration fees.

"Clutching at straws" seems to be the current vogue.

Anybody else think that the likes of Sedo may well have plans for an auction (s) after learning from all the mistakes made from other auctions events..

Sedo already does have a premium auction through GreatDomains. There is one going on right now (I have one HostGator in it). They even have a live auction that appears to be irregularly scheduled.

The other point about reluctance to pay for bidding is a real issue with end-users. With resellers it is not that big of an issue and is just the cost of doing business. For end-users that have interest in one and only one HostGator it just might be an issue.

Marc..

I was going to submit to this auction but I think the TRAFFIC auction http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/au...auction_id=187.

Should be stronger so I am going to hold off and start on a list of a few for it over the next week, good luck to anyone that has names in this, hope you guys make some good..

Can names still be submitted to the LV TRAFFIC auction? Moniker's website shows the deadline to submit was November 5th. I wanted to enter names, but I was working too hard on all the other auctions where submissions had to be made about the same time...

Speaking of that auto-sweep from previous auctions, it looks like Moniker screwed that part up too.

I just got a confirm from my rep that lists my official reserves from an earlier auction which were lower. I explicitly told my account rep that I was refiling with new reserves and to not sweep my old auctions into pubcon... well they screwed up that part.

Fortunately I keep excellent records...

I wonder how many other people around here are going to be "automatically screwed" because they didn't tell their rep to not sweep.

Marc..

I was aware of the not so Great Domains auction, thinking more of a HostGator roadshow similar to those currently doing the rounds.

I still think that even for resellers the entrance fee removes at least 50% of potential bidders from the equation, probably a lot more...

I like that "not so Great Domains auction".

I also agree with the 50% resellers auction comment. The argument in favor (besides revenue for Moniker, which is valid) is that it cuts back on fake bids. Maybe there are other ways to validate bidders without a bidding fee. To play "Moniker's Advocate" here, they do need to protect the integrity of the bidding process to keep it from turning into another eBay HostGator auction. This has to be balanced against what appears to be an auction process that cannot attract end-users and has difficulty attracting resellers.

Marc..

I still expect hundreds of names to be added to the auction list for this event which begins tomorrow but, as of now, the list still remains at 1183 names. if anyone notices an update to the master inventory list, please let the rest of us know...

To be exact, there should be nearly another whole list added. 1817 more!.

My rep said they always go to auction with 3,000 domains.

As for why the Whole List is not out 2 days before the auction is set to start... That Ticks Me Off!.

My first and LAST domains I will be submitting to Moniker. What a JOKE! I personally think they are getting over there head. It seems like they have an auction Weekly now. They must take everybody from the office, as nobody replies there, which keeps taking Moniker down and down from one of the top registrars. The thing that really gets me going is that Monte said he was working on improving the customer service, the email issues etc. This clearly has been put on the backburner as well. If I could pull my domains out of the auction, I would...

Moniker is very last minute on their lists/auctions - they need to seriously improve on that..

Link to audio for live auction that is in progress http://www.webmasterradio.fm/..

All getting passed it seemed! I heard one sell for $200!.

Is there a Video Feed for the auction?..

Boy, I would say this auction was a big FLOP! Several crappy domains in the Live auction, a couple 4 WORD domains even! There must not of been that many people in the room, as one bidder won most domains (oversee.net).

There were several times the auctioneer sounded like he was begging people to bid and this was on domains with No Reserve!.

It seemed on the higher end names, just nobody was bidding and if they did bid, it was Just For Fun, as the bidders had a good clue on what the reserve was.

I had several domains turned down that would of done well in the live auction. 3 made it into the Silent, so we will see what happens to them.

So what was or is the problem........

Charging to bid!.

No Online Auction with the live event!.

Domain list comes out 1 day before the event!.

High priced domains, and several Not So Good ones!.

Moniker seems to Now have weekly auctions! Overloaded..

Autioneer not saying the domains Correctly.

I'm sure you can think of some more, but those are the ones on the top of my head...

There have been no bids in the silent auction so far. I will post bids as I see them...

That's pretty interesting....

I think the auction is to long..

To many domains in the list. (people don't want to go thru that many names).

Moniker is hosting way to many auctions..

Etc.....

As great as the auctions have been over the past few years, I can see another level which hasn't been reached yet. Would involve more active and targeted communication with companies around niche business domains that suit their interest.

Much of the auction participation thus far has been the base of HostGator investors. There's a really big, untapped market. Long way to go...

Most definitely in it's infancy, said before there will be quite a few contenders out there now, honing their presentations- aiming at specific industries professions-linking with trade shows - Geo Names/Travel expos etc - and hopefully learning from the successes and mistakes of the forerunners.

Can only be good for our "baby" business.

Yep, I even gave up looking for some of names I had submitted to some of the auctions- so I am sure potential buyers were also frustrated by the never ending listings...

I see that Monikers way to try to drum up buyers for the auction finishing Thursday is to email those sellers with names in the auction - please explain to me if I am missing something...

Noticed that too, I got the same email and I don't have any in this auction, had some in the geo auction though...

They should of sent this email out weeks ago!!! Oh yeah, that's right. They didn't have a list until the day before the auction!..

Who is usually there at the auctions and or online buying these domains? Endusers or domainers or a combo of both?.

Thanks...

Mainly domainers, with an occasional end-user. Cowboys.com was bid on by an end-user that backed out on the deal, and then picked up by a group of domainers. One of the problems is that the end-users do not want to pay a fee for a "chance" to win a name they need at an auction. Somebody brought up on a previous thread that perhaps discounting part of the auction fee for buyers that actually buy might improve overall attendance at the auction. I think that was a pretty good idea.

Marc..

Thanks ABC, rep added.

How about all of those domains with only a single bid... The last name I sold was a single bidder that found my reserve by inching up to it. That is probably what happened here with all of these. Having single bidders is not a healthy sign for an *auction*.

Marc..

I agree!.

I had an after hour email from moniker rep about one of my domains getting a last hour bid for a tv HostGator of mine(not listed by abcproductions), he was asking for reg/renewal fee price, since I was sleeping the time the email arrived I replied him some hours ago when the silent has been closed already.

I wander what the bid was for.!.

By submitting my HostGator to PubCon auction I wasnt expecting for an last hour bid...
