Before I begin, I wanna ask: I bought a web site from godaddy and cant get rid of top advertisement, I purchased hosting with the?.

My next question is: I'm curious to know for those of you who have a talent for this, what % of your sales are generated from this angle. Especially in comparison to sending out emails.

Any tips also appreciated. Thanks!..

Your question was: I bought a web site from godaddy and cant get rid of top advertisement, I purchased hosting with the?.

I like chatting on the phone ... and just completed two sales to End users (both had the term "Career" in the respective HostGator names) via mainly phone contact and then follow up emails, IMHO. I struck out on a third, an .ORG, via the phone ... but I met a very sweet southern lady who said she "appreciated my thinking of them", however.

Research potential issues first, and then call (and continue to email market) to your End users, folks!.

Happy Holidays!.

Sending emails and Fax worked the best for me. I am not a good phone talker either since English is not my first language...

If you are trying to sell a name for $500 or more, I recommend making phone calls to introduce yourself and what your intention is and then following up through email. I have never made a sale of more than $1000 without speaking to the buyer on the phone unless they contacted me first inquiring about a name (or through a live auction or Sedo)...

Not everything is about money I guess.

Nice information Jeff, I've never tried to contact end users by phone, only by email and even advertising some names in a newspaper (with no success), I might try to contact by phone as well now..

If you are good on the phone and can talk, then I think calling shows interest far better than sending a simple email...

I'm great on the phone, I could sell an igloo to an eskimo. And they wouldnt be able to see my bad grammar...

Then If I were you I would give it a shot. As long as you are confident in your phone skills, give it a shot and good luck..

Provided you have a good voice, and then some telesales talk seminars that you've attended to, this is good but if not just leave to the call center agents/experts, but usually works well with female if you have a male client and vice versa...

I think a phone call is very important in some situations as abcproduction stated very well.

It gives more credibility..

...oops post removed, Sorry I misread the first post it's 2 am.

I can make a carefully thought out and well written letter, but when I talk on the phone, I can never be too ready.

When you call the end users, will they feel like they are receiving a phone call from another sales telemarketer?.

I received calls a few years back from domainers wanting me to purchase their name for $1,000 - $10,000.

Some of them were funny because they were the domains I forgot to renew or didn't bother to renew...
