That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at Verisign as they probably could help you..
How do you offer Free Shipping if (Download) but also offer Normal shipping prices if not download. We have to use product weight because the item may or may not be shipped..
I'm trying to figure a way to display these options...
You have to create an option of DOWNLOAD with a value of YES at the top of your products attributes page in admin. Make sure you choose those two when you put your filename in, set your number of downloads and days available. This should not affect your other items, as long as you choose DOWNLOAD and then YES in your Product Attributes specifically for these items only..

Thank you Chelle,.
But that won't exactly work in my case. We have a whole custom delivery setup. We sell software and product codes for software (if the buyer does not want the item shipped). We upload scans of the product codes then when an item is purchased we have a delivery que which we can access that generates a unique link to the digital scan of said product code, and emails a the link to the buyer..
I used "download" as an example, but what we really need is something that looks like this on the checkout_shipping page.
Option 1: Email Service Only.
Option 2: Email Service +.
Option 2a: USPS Priority USA Shipment.
Option 2b: USPS Airmail Canada Shipment.
Option 2c: USPS Airmail International Shipment.
Option 3: Factory Sealed (NO EMAIL) +.
Option 3a: USPS Priority USA Shipment.
Option 3b: USPS Airmail Canada Shipment.
Option 3c: USPS Airmail International Shipment.
We used to use the product attributes to achieve this however there was issues with the Email Service not showing up at the first option because the value was 0. Then there is the whole problem with items weighing different amounts and those who want to purchase multiple items getting charged a buttload for shipping because the attributes don't use a table rate...
Why don't you add weight to your attributes and use code for ZERO weight skips shipping? If your customer has multiple items in their cart, they will never get charged for anything with a NULL weight. You can find the code for both in the contribution area...
Oh, I see...sorry I wasn't any help. I tried..
Right! Same basic idea. However, couldnt this be accomplished by adding the option of NO, and that would trigger the shipping charges?.
Thanks for the idea can either of you explain a little more as to how this works...
So lets say I have a game which has a code and I want to offer email, shipping, or email and shipping..
I use the attribute section for email and this somehow sets the the weight to 0.
But if they want the item shipped it uses the products weight.
And if they want the product email and shipped it still uses the products weight but lets us know they want both services?.
Is this some sort of wizardry voodoo magic with the an attribute catalyst?..
No clue there. Maybe do a search and if no luck, repost asking how to do download and shipping for same item. There might even be a contrib for this..
Sorry I wasnt much help..
I want to sell a product on my Verisign site for a few quid but I dont want it to have a shipping fee like the rest of my items, I will send it by email how do I make it so there is no shipping fee for that specific item..
Do you currently charge for shipping based upon weight? If so, set these products to zero weight and set up your shipping table to give free shipping to orders equalling 0 kg..
