First of all How to prevent smtp Verisign SSL errors with outlook 2003? Many thanks for any answer or 2. My other question... So I wanted to make a "You are now being redirected to blah blah" such as www.summitfb.com I was told to mess around with the <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo $charset; ?>" />.

Require('includes/application_top.php'); and I did and now I get this message.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/The21/public_html/index.php on line 12.

Can someone tell me how to fix it and how to do the redirecting thing? Thanks for reading..

Also another thing when I got to either my account or checkout I get the internet explorer error..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at Verisign as they probably can answer it..

Comment #1

Sorry I'm a really beginner, whats a offending code?..

Comment #2

The offending code would be the code that is causing the error...

Post the code that you were mucking around in...

Comment #3

This is the code I was messing around with.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo $charset; ?>" />.

Require('includes/application_top.php');..

Comment #4

Yes, and what does it look like now?.

Can you show more than just one line? maybe 10 or so lines before and after LINE 12 as described in your error.. The error messages are there for a reason, they tell you EXACTLY what you did wrong and where.. Your error message says that you have < in the wrong place at line 12..

Comment #5

Does this help at all?.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo $charset; ?>" />.

Require('includes/application_top.php');.

// the following cPath references come from application_top.php.

$category_depth = 'top';.

If (isset($cPath) && tep_not_null($cPath)) {.

$categories_products_query = tep_db_query("select count(*) as total from "TABLE_PRODUCTS_TO_CATEGORIES" where categories_id = '"(int)$current_category_id"'");.

$cateqories_products = tep_db_fetch_array($categories_products_query);.

If ($cateqories_products['total'] > 0) {.

$category_depth = 'products'; // display products.

} else {.

$category_parent_query = tep_db_query("select count(*) as total from "TABLE_CATEGORIES" where parent_id = '"(int)$current_category_id"'");.

$category_parent = tep_db_fetch_array($category_parent_query);.

If ($category_parent['total'] > 0) {.

$category_depth = 'nested'; // navigate through the categories.

} else {.

$category_depth = 'products'; // category has no products, but display the 'no products' message..

Comment #6

Which line is line 12?/.

Its always good to put your starting line number when you add code..

Comment #7

The first one is the one I messed around with so it's either the first or second line I'm pretty sure it is the second tho..

Comment #8

No. I need to know which line is line 12 on your ENTIRE file...

Comment #9

What do you mean on my whole file. Because on idex.php the second line of the code I gave you is line 12 on index.php..

Comment #10

Oh.. DUH< you put your META DATA outside the <head> tags.. move that inside the <head> </HEAD> tags and you should be fine.

Sorry I am new to this stuff, sure.

Starting at line 1.

<?php.

/*.

$Id: index.php 1739 2007-12-20 00:52:16Z hpdl $.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo $charset; ?>" />.

Require('includes/application_top.php');..

Comment #12

Oh.. DUH< you put your META DATA outside the <head> tags.. move that inside the <head> </HEAD> tags and you should be fine..

Comment #13

Sorry if this sounds really nooblike but what do you mean?..

Comment #14

I REALLY am risking sounding rude, but HOW do you expect to create an e-commerce store without even knowing what a <head> tag is? I really dont want to sound rude, but if you are really trying to do this all by yourself and expect to get anywhere in anytime, you should learn atleast SOME html before you jump into server side scripts..

Anyways.. look at ALL of the code in the top 50 or so lines of index.php.

Within that code you will see something that looks like this.

<head>.

And then some lines of code, and then something that looks like this:.

</head>.

Those are head tags> they contain information that the Verisign website uses that will not be displayed, but to tell the Verisign site how to behave (in a sense). Your stuff that you are triyng to add should go there.. between those two...

Comment #15

I did as you said and it didnt work..

Comment #16

Whats your new error? and what does your code look like now..

Comment #17

Same error except code is.

<?php.

/*.

$Id: index.php 1739 2007-12-20 00:52:16Z hpdl $.

OsCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions.

<head>.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<?php echo $charset; ?>" />.

Require('includes/application_top.php');.

// the following cPath references come from application_top.php.

$category_depth = 'top';.

If (isset($cPath) && tep_not_null($cPath)) {.

$categories_products_query = tep_db_query("select count(*) as total from "TABLE_PRODUCTS_TO_CATEGORIES" where categories_id = '"(int)$current_category_id"'");.

$cateqories_products = tep_db_fetch_array($categories_products_query);.

If ($cateqories_products['total'] > 0) {.

$category_depth = 'products'; // display products.

} else {.

Code starts at line 1.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/Thing1263/public_html/index.php on line 12..

Comment #18

You werent supposed to move the head above the cide you added, you were supposed to put YOUR code inbetween the two existing head tags..

Comment #19

Comment #20

Well, no one can tell you anything until you post the offending code.. So I would start there...

Also, I dont know how the meta data would give you a re-direct....
