Your question was: How to make the mushrooms easier to eat on Nutrisystem?.
I saute them in LS chicken broth , then dump in any of a number of the Nutrisystem dinnersparticularly Mushroom Risotto and Penne Pasta & Chicken in Alfredo Sauce. It really increases the volume of the serving. With the Penne Pasta & Chicken in Alfredo Sauce I also saute baby spinach until wilted...
They are really yummy sauteed with some cooking spray (or olive oil if you have a fat) and worcestshire sauce. I have no idea how to spell that, sorry!..
I LOVE mushrooms - but I rarely eat them raw. I usually saute with some cooking spray and/or chicken broth and eat them with just about anything...
I eat mushrooms almost every day but never ever raw. I use portabellas and baby bellas/criminis. I sautee them in a non stick skillet or I broil them. Most of the time I mix them in with artichokes and peppers. Sometimes I spray with them with a little balsamic vinegar...
Try Stuffed Mushrooms - there are many variations, but this is one I use..
Mushrooms (I use the large white mushrooms, but you can do this in a large portabello cap).
Saute mushrroms, onions and garlic in a little sodium free beef broth. Add well drained spinach to mixture. Remove from heat..
Add 1 egg white and a tablespoon of bread crumbs and stuff caps.
Top with low fat mozzarella (protein from snack) and bake in oven on a cookie sheet for about 20 minutes. Filling should be set and cheese should be melted..
Saute with spinach, garlic and a splash of balsamic. Love it!.
And the black mini poodles..
I HAVE SCRAMBLED EGGBEATERS MOST EVERY MORNING & I START BY SAUTEING mushrooms...also I do have some raw in my dinner salad...
I love shrooms!.
I use the sliced ones from the jar on pizzas and the flame-broiled burger, and add them into the Penne Pasta and the pasta cup lunches. I also sautee these with okra with a little Pam and Mrs. Dash..
The medium-sized whole white raw mushrooms (I guess there's a real name for them LOL) - I eat them with fat free ranch dressing, along with tomatoes and celery and cucumbers. They would be good sliced on a salad, but I'm lazy and just eat salad out of the bag, and I'm good with that.
I sautee them with garlic powder an the 1/8 tsp of salt allowance. I like to put them on top of the pizzas...best on the italian flatbreads, because it has that authentic italian taste!..
Stuffed mushrooms with low fat or fat free cream cheese mixed with chopped mushroom stems and chopped green onions. Bake at 350 until golden brown on top. I'd make these for special occassions for my family. Sooo good!!!..
