Food is 80% of the battle. You will lose weight if you constrain your diet and don't cheat. Exercise helps up the rate a little...that's all...

No exercise also shrinks your fat cells and tightens your skin. It builds muscle and makes your heart healthier since your heart is a muscle. If you can't exercise, then don't but I would never advocate no exercise as a choice. Not exercising is why we are all on NS. Think about it...

I haven't been able to exercise due to back issues, and it' sstill come off. That was the main reason I joined...

Exercise "re-shapes" the body (in addition to the health benefits). If you are happy with your current body shape, when you lose weight you will be the same shape you are now but smaller (if your body is a pear shape, you will be a smaller pear shape, for example) - so you need to decide if you want your same body but smaller, or if you want to enhance your body shape from what you currently have - then you have to exercise...

Exercise is aweseom and I highly recommend it. For appearance and for calories burnt and even more so for the heart. That said, food really is 80% of the battle. You can make incredible changes by only working on the food. And conversely, you can eat Big Macs way faster than run them off!.

BS on body shape not changing with weight loss. The body stores fat preferentially in certain locations (mid-section, etc.) When you lose weight (for whatever reason), you will have dramatic changes in physique. Most noticeable as you get to goal...

All is a matter of opinion which is fine - but I don't understand why there are some people on the boards that are just plain rude...

Maybe you don't "exercise" in the gym, but you could always park further away and walk, or take the stairs instead of the elevator, or cleaning house could be a good work out as well....

I believe the little things do add up...

The more I excercise, the more I lose. That part is different for everyone, but I believe that the mental benefits to excercise for all, are not to be overlooked either. For me, it's the sense of accomplishment when I complete my daily excercise that gets me excited and ready for a new Nutrisystem day. I don't want to do the work on the treadmill only to sabotage it by cheating...

I started exercising the same day I started Nutrisystems. As a 47 year old male who used to exercise WAY back in his 20s, I find that it is awesome moving again. After 5 weeks I am up to 45 minutes daily on the elliptical, and I do 45 minutes to an hour of free weights. I have gone from 255 to 230 in those five weeks, my energy is excellent, and I find my mood to be down-right cheerful!.

There truly is something to be said for doing exercise if you can. Just my opinion!..

I totally agree with you!.

We are on a weightloss board. We are supposed to be advocating the healthy route. Ask any doctor or dietician. They will all say that exercise is important in your long term well being. If you aren't a doctor, you shouldn't be commenting on what is or isn't the best way to lose weight, build muscle and stay healthy...
