I'm starting soon I should get my order today does anybody have any advice for me. and how to get started. I know I have to read the booklet any pointers.

For the nice welcome. I got my order fri. and I will be starting on sunday..

With my understanding that all I need to do is get some fruit and verries and whole wheat bread or rolls and dairy. hope that is right.

Check out the discussion boards. I have learned so much from other Nutrisystem users that has really helped and find a group that you can check in with daily. It helps keep you on track..

Check out the recommended grocery guide under the Tips and Recipes Tab. Obviously, you're not gonna buy ALL of that on your first trip to the grocery but it's a good place to start and get an idea. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE call a counselor before you get started, they can answer any questions you may have and get you started off on the right foot.

Not quite. You will be adding fruit, veggies, dairy/protein and fat to your Nutrisystem entrees as called for on the daily planner. You will only add carbs if you are a male, if you have over 100 pounds to loose or if the entree specifically calls for the addition of a carb (things like the hamburger patty, chicken patty, sloppy joe, fajita).

Check out the planner that came with your food. It will specify what needs to be eaten at each meal. It's somewhat different for the different plans, so look at the planner carefully and start out by following closely. If your mind thinks it is too much food for one meal, break it up and have part of it a little later, but eat everything!.

The fat serving is really important. Don't skip it. It helps to keep your skin healthy, to keep your bowels soft and your hair shinny. You need it.

You will need to become very familiar with the vegetable department at your grocery store. You can use fresh, or frozen or canned vegetables (use low or no salt canned veggies or if you can't find that, be sure to rinse the salt off them before you use them). Remember that corn, peas, most beans (lima beans, pinto beans, gabanzo beans etc.) and potatos are carbs not veggies.

You should call a Nutrisystem counselor and talk over the program with them. You pay for that service with your food so go ahead and make use of it. They will make sure that you really understand the program.

Other tips... I find that having several sets of measuring cups helpful. That way I'm not constantly washing them out, but have a chance to let the dishwasher do some of the work. I also like having a food scale. For me, weighing some of the foods is easier than trying to use a measuring cup... especially for fruits. I use to look up weight equivalents for the foods that I prefer to weigh...
