Your question was: How to cook Nutrisystem black bean lunches?.
One of my favs.
If I'm at work - Add hot water, cover tightly (with a plate) and go make a salad..
If I'm home - Measure water, heat in a pan, add beans and rice mixture, add 1/2 cup tomato salsa and 1 oz ham or turkey. Cook, cover, enjoy. Really good...
Stuffing in a bell pepper sounds good, will have to remember that next time I have one of those meals. (next shipment I hope)..
I like them too.
But mine always turn out more like refried beans when i'm ready to eat it..
Oh well i'm still going to eat it.
But wish I could get them to be whole beans instead of refried like beans...
I actually like it when I put a shredded lowfat cheddar (dairy/protein) and a dollop of light sour cream in it! YUM!..
This is also one of my favorites. I am careful to add the water just to the line (or a little below) and it's never mushy(?mean watery?). I always add a FF hot dog, but I think I will try the FF cheese someone mentioned...
The poster probably means that the consistency is thick not watery so adding less water wouldn't work out to well. If it comes out like refried beans then the soup is absorbing the water to thicken it up. I have the same problem with the black bean soup products but just eat them as is. The only soup I like so far is the Mexican Tortilla soup but then I am not a real fan of soups to begin with.
I went to the dentist and had some major work done so I've been living off Nutrisystem soups for almost10 days now. I am pretty sick of soup now...
I save a carb for the black bean soup, fill only just barely to the fill line (it comes out with the consistency of refried beans) and use a low carb whole wheat tortilla, an ounce of cubed diced chicken for the protein add, and just a sprinkle of ff cheese and onion with some parsely a heap of diced bell peppers to make part of it into a quesadilla. I mix in some pico de galllo for the other half for dipping. Yum!..
