Water, exercise, eating all the food including your add-ins and your metabolism (and don't forget plateaus).....

I've lost 40 lbs in 7 months. No cheating for this girl. Lots of water and exercise. I am a typical Nutrisystem loser - not a super loser aka those folks who lose 5-10 lbs right away. I loose 1 to 1 1/2 lb every week.

If you work the program, the program will work for you...
If you are female, don't count on huge numbers, just slow and steady. I am heavier than you, want to lose 40 lbs and have only lost 4 in 6 weeks. I am at menopause and have a sluggish thyroid, so I will lose very slowly, but my doc is happy with that. Don't get me wrong, I get very discouraged at times, esp. when someone drops that much in a week, but I have to stay on my journey...

It all depends, but there are some things to help guide you..
1. You look young, this will help you lose faster. Post menopausal women seem to need less calories (and thus lose slower at 1200...basically their deficit is less)..
2. Your loss rate will probably be good at 178 (again it depends, but I bet 2#/week). Realize some weeks may be 3 or 1 or even 4 or 0. But that's just variation, it will average out. As you get smaller, your loss rate will go down because your body needs less calories when it is smaller. the best thing is just to live with it, but if you want to continue losing fast, upping exercise gradually can help.
3. Men tend to lose faster than women, because they need more calories to maintain weight. Don't let it freak you out. We are different, physically..
4. Don't cheat. Don't! Eat huge salads to stay full. And be very honest with yourself. It is a scientifically studied fact that 50% of women underestimate their calories by more than 20% even when logging them. (No tastes from hubby's plate! ).
Good luck and don't let me turn you off. Do the work and you will be proud of your hot figure AND your willpower!..
I am trying to loose 55 pounds and have lost 16 in two months. The 1-2 pounds a week is pretty much what you should count on and that is with being true to the program and drinking all the water. Anything better than that will be a bonus!..
