Good morning!.

A chilly 44 in NE Florida today. My honey is home (but wishing there was work) so we will laze the day away together. I feel better all the time. Skipped art class last night-though I really want to get back to the lino cut-but just too tired. did a quick jump on the scale this morning just 'to see' and it's moved so I have hopes for Saturday..

Don't let yourself get so busy you cannot take care of your health or you may find that is ALL you can take care of and everything else is pushed far down the list. I have a new neighbor that must go to dialysis 3 times a week-she's a terrific gal and I like her but her week revolves around getting to and from those visits. Much less time is needed for us to just think about what to eat-I'm sure I don't spend over 9 hours a week deciding about food. Been checking off my boxes again-always of course but now am getting more of them checked off. Feel I am back on plan all the way again so hoping to start on a repeat of last year's losses..

Can I get an Amen up in here? it's been proven that if you at least check in, maybe read the daily dose, and post an encouragement somewhere, you are more likely to stay on track. It works for me. most of the encouraging things I write to anyone else is truly directed back at me..

I am having a chocolate chip scone and hot tea for breakfast. All squeaky clean to go to my doctor and see what he has to say about my adventure last week. Since none of my dressings have fallen off 'naturally' as the nurse said to let happen, I do wonder if he will remove them and then redress if needed..

Sadly, no work for my honey again today-this economy is not being kind to construction..

Laughing releases tremendously good endorphins so I try:.

Ladies I'm stuck. I have been at the same weight, and am frustraited. I lost the first 20 no problem. I'm half way there... but I'm stuck, no loss for the last 2 months. No gain either, but no loss. Any ideas? What did you do if you got stuck?..

Hi Alice,.

Been there done that. Two months is a long time but not unheard of. Have you called a counselor? They have some good tips. Here are a few we have gathered, used and some found that one or another worked..

Depends on so many factors..

Check off your boxes. Drink enough water, all day long, not trying to chug in one go. Eat fresh fruit if you have been having canned. Change the fruit and vegetables to different kinds. Try preparing them a different way. Measure, measure-don't guess.

Add 10 minutes of exercise-even just marching in place. change when you eat. do a breakfast for lunch, a lunch for dinner etc. order some different entrees. Do not add anything that is not on your plan.

But for losing, it doesn't help. I don't so I can never use that excuse or cut it out either!.

Since you are halfway to goal, your body is ready for an adjustment time. I personally think the last 10 pounds are the hardest because we are so close to what we should be. It's bound to go slower. It's important to not give up as you are committed to changing your eating for the better from now on. Stick with it might be the hardest part of your new eating plan but it is so worth it-why would you lose 20 pounds to give up? I know you did not say you were stopping but it is discouraging to see the scale sort of rust in place. I reached my lowest so far the end of October and have bounced around up and down 3 pounds since.

I am about half way too-a greater half way but still.....

Hang in and come back any time..

Watched Nanny McPhee Returns last night with supper-as good as the first one. Honestly, we enjoyed it so much we were both bawling our eyes out at the end-my honey is such a softy. we would have edited just a tad different after seeing the deleted scenes but it works beautifully. We hope there are others in the series..

Going to my surgeon for a post op today-yesterday's visit to my primary doctor was great. He was well pleased over all and I found I was 16 pounds lighter than the last time I went to him. All meds. still the same but I live in hope of dropping off the BP med. at some point. Still feeling a bit tired in the afternoon but that in itself is not unusual.

Stopped at the library on the way home from my appointment to use the free wifi to download the 64 books on my wish list at Amazon kindle store. They are all free of course. I will have so much reading material with me I will never lack for something interesting to read. Now, if only they would digitize every other book I was interested in. I did find some I haven't even been able to find at the library but I am chary about spending money. Can't read library ebooks on a kindle-different format and cannot be converted (legally) so have to give them a miss for now.

Had a smaller than usual salad last night, which means big but not huge for me, to test the waters after the gall bladder being out. Some say they have no problems others can't handle different things. I'll have to see. So far so good. Feeling good about my weigh in on Saturday..

I obviously don't know one day from another and used the wrong date yesterday. how are you all doing? ready for the weekend? I went to the surgeon yesterday and got the green light-don't need to go back. Started taking all my Xmas boxes out of the closet to un-decorate and reorganize. Setting aside things to give away or sell, if vintage, some things just don't need to be stored if I haven't used them in over 5 years. Only keep a few large votive type candle holders for when there are the very infrequent power outages and the rest go. I have a flameless battery candle, a gift from a neighbor, and love it.

Comes 5 PM and they turn on for 5 hours and shut off. Mine is manual but still, they last for over 2000 hours on 2 C batteries and are safe, which is the biggest factor..

Jerry has work again today, hooray! Just had my Double Chocolate Muffin and hot tea. Also had a fresh salad yesterday and no after effects. I'm sure theNutrisystembalance nutrition has a lot to do with it..

A bit nippy today, or nipply as my husband says, but supposed to be nice during the day. Going to take the comforter off of the bed..

Good Morning All. I know I am down but have to check my ticker to see exactly how much. Can't remember what my WI was last Saturday. Getting old I guess..

So glad that you got the green light Barb but remember that does not mean you are back to 100%. You still need to do a reading on your body every day to see where it is. If it's running tired then back off for a few days..

That's one thing they teach you at Yoga. Get into a relaxed postion either standing, laying down or sitting and scan your body to see what it is telling you. If you ask it, it will answer..

Sounds like another cold winter in FL. Have not heard from my BIL and SIL but bet they are a little cold. They like to rub it in and tell us how warm they are but you keep them honest for me LOL..

Bea - sounds like you are keeping busy in all your cold and snow. I'm hoping that it stays out your way and we have just some cold and not much snow..

Today it is the 3 to 6 inch variety that causes slippery roads but no real issues. Maybe another storm next week..

This week I did Yoga 4 times. I am going Monday to a very gentle Yoga, Tues and Thurs to Hatha Yoga and then I signed up for the 1st Friday in every month for a restorative yoga workshop with Reiki. The workshop is 2-1/2 hours and it wonderful. Not sure I would have been as open to Reiki when I was younger but now it is wonderful..

The instructor said go home and have a relaxing weekend and I though Yeh like that's going to happen. It's almost like working; weeks are so busy that weekends end up being housework..

Well let me go on and fix my ticker and then I will get back and post my loss..

I'm on the wagon going to healthy street once again. It feels wonderful..

Anne..

Barb - And the loss this week is 3.8. That would be normal for the first week back on plan. Now to keep my mind centered on eating to be healthy..

'morning ladies! pretty chilly here in NE Florida-39. But it looks to be a sunny day, even if only getting up to 52. Everything but the Christmas tree is put away and I vacuumed the whole house-not a huge chore for me..

Good advice Anne, thanks. Always listen and that has saved me many times. Most of my activity at home is changing around-do something walking around, then sit a while, then get up and do something else etc. works for me..

My brother was unique when he was little-he never stayed up if he felt tired, he just disappeared and we would find him gone to bed..

Having my double chocolate muffin for breakfast and an egg frittata as my extra protein as I am hungry this morning and this will start me off right..

Hang in there, winter still has a way to go..

Bea-I second those feelings! I did enjoy some special foods, a cookie here and there and a piece of pecan pie at thanksgiving, but it's good to be back in a regular routine. Had the pizza tonight and it was so good and amazes me it is quite enough. Even Jerry is satisfied with one of the Totinos pizzas which is 8 inches..

My daughter, Janice, is joining our challenge for a pound a week. She is within 20 pounds or less to goal, so it's much slower for her..

'Morning girls. Windy right now and supposed to rain. looking to do my regular routine today-meals on wheels and then art class tonight. nothing else on schedule so I don't overdo anything. Chocolate Chip Scone for breakfast and hot tea. I'm eating up the scones as I replaced all of them with double chocolate muffins next delivery.

The scones are a good solid hunk of pastry to start you off though..

Started back logging my food and weight online again as I am now going down, finally. Had been logging food except over Christmas-gee, I wonder why? didn't really think it mattered to put in IV for 3 days.

Morning. Staci report she is down 2 lbs..

Driving me nuts. My keyboard had a g and t that don't work all the time. Of course you know the amount of words with g and t. Just got a new keyboard which should be here in a few days..

We did our usual out to lunch after church yesterday. The one day a week I allow myself to eat a little bit more but not really way off plan..

We are going to get a big storm on Tues night and Weds. Of course Weds is a long over due foot doctor appointment and my hairdresser. More to reschedule into another busy week. Winter can now go away. I have had my dose of snow thank you..

Today I have a list of some small things to accomplish before Yoga at 4:00PM. I have been getting out of bed around 7:30 on days we don't have to get up for appointments, so basically Mon and Fri. I love the extra sleep but it does push the day back a bit..

I like the idea of resting when you feel tired. I was always used to pushing thru the tired point and my body suffers for that the next day. Never could get used to not finishing a project I start. Can't just vacuum one room need to do the whole house. Not sure how to redo my brain to just doing a little each day around errands..

Bea - don't think you are getting this storm. More down south today..

I am hoping to get over to Amsterdam in Feb with grandaughter to see son so this winter weather can slow down anytime..

Talk with you guys later..

Has anyone heard from Allison? It's strange sometimes how sisters just drop off the board all of a sudden. I always think of Knits. Her last post was normal chatty and then nothing at all. Thanks that Barb and Bea have stuck around and we now have Lisa..

Hi ladies! This challenge is off to a slow start for me. Weighed in today at 138.4 for a loss of .8 pounds. I am doing Chalean Extreme (a workout program) and I just hit my last 30 days so I'm hoping that adjustment allows for a bigger weight loss this week. I'll catch up with everyone's post a little later. have a great Monday!..

Im on here back for support and inspiration! I need is badly!..

Abby Welcome Back - I also have been MIA and have gained. I didn't go completely off but enough that I'm here to hold myself accountable. Of course I have not caught up on any old posts, but I'm planning on it..

Hope all are doing well..

There's snow in North Pole.

Like that's a surprise?!?..

OMG! what a great New Year's surprise! I have missed you guys. Of course you gained, so what, you found your way 'home'. check in every day and read the daily dose, log your food in your plan book and, Abby-keep dancing!.

Diana-did you send all this crappy weather away from Alaska on purpose? didn't think so.... good to see your smiling face again..

Please join the challenge-I'll put your names in, you let me know how much. It's 4 weeks away so how about 4 pounds each? something to shoot for..

Glad you both found us; we have a new sister that has stayed around, Lisa, who is doing great...

WHOA - my weight gain was worse than I was "pretending". So, I've now posted my official weight ARG! Still, I know what to do and I know it's not NS's fault. Yesterday I was close to a 100%Nutrisystemday. I added a few pepperjack cheese crackers. However, I faithfully logged it into the system and it didn't push me too far past my calorie goal. However, I have noticed that I'm not drinking enough water (which was always an issue before I started NS).

I'm sorry that I still haven't caught up with the old posts..

Barb - you can put me down for 4 pounds for the V-Day challenge, and I'll do my best. I'm so glad you, Bea & Anne have stuck with it here. Thank you All..

Hello to Lisa & all others that have joined while I've been MIA!..

Forgot to post yesterday it was 1-11-'11 pretty neat until it gets to be 11-11-11 ..

Will try to get back on the treadmill today. My cold and my hospital visit sidelined me a bit. need to boost the metabolism and keep the weight going down. I have a much shorter goal than you, Diana! wow, 600 miles-it should be a song...

A frosty morning to all of you. the news said there was snow on the ground in 49 states, all except Florida. It's 29 here now and what happened? The outside faucets are dripping again and I am staying indoors. Good thing we kept all our Ohio winter clothing!.

Just had my double chocolate muffin-they are so good. Went for some spaghetti last night. My poor Christmas tree is in sections waiting to be refitted properly. We think we have it figured out-how to switch it to the new stand and how to get it through the doorways without tipping it..

Stay healthy and drink your water-winter can be just as dehydrating as a hot summer..

Good Morning All!.

I did better on my water yesterday. I also find myself doing well onNutrisystemthroughout the day, but when evening rolls around the crunching-munching urges are taking a toll. Maybe I need to save more of my veggies for munching in the evening..

It's also been crazy busy this month at work since it's year-end form completion time. I've been working longer hours and find that the treadmill or Leslie Sansone's dvd just do not appeal. It's going to be hard to make my walking goal for this year if I don't get to it..

Diana-I hate the munchies; nothing seems to really kill them. Even if you've done your veggies, make a big salad with lots of celery and throw some raisins in if you like them and have that extra fruit. It would be better to have the extra salad, and they are all raw anyway, than be hungry or eat the wrong things..

Walking after a day at work is tough. I can never do it. I have to get it right before lunch or at least before 2 or I'm just too pooped. don't know how you will do it while working. Hi! My workouts have been good. I stepped on the scale today out of curiosity and I was down so hopefully that stays the same or goes down even further by the time my Monday weigh-in comes along. This is also the first week I haven't been exclusively on Nutrisystem so we'll see. I've been making healthy choices from what I can tell, tracking everything in Sparkpeople to make sure I get everything I need. So far so good..

On the personal front, Ryan turned five months on the 9th. I can't believe how much he changes everyday. He is starting to get a little personality and he just amazes me. On days where I don't have strenghth training, I do Turbo Jam, which is like a fun kickboxing program. I'll put him in his jumperoo and do the workout and he'll just squeal and laugh the whole time. I guess I look ridiculous to him! HAHA..

Hope everyone's week is going well. I'll be on over the weekend..

Barb - lost .9 lbs this week. Not wonderful but at least down. Thought about rounding it up to 1 but it wasn't no matter how many times I got on and off the scale. Even took off the watch. I try to stay away from eating out (no matter what you do it is bad for losing or maintaining; that what cardiologist and diabetes doc tells my husband) and this week it was twice rather than my normal once. Simply got caught out one noontime too far away from home to get back in time.

I also need to get some more of my SF Jello etc..

Was so glad to see both Abby and Diana back on the boards. That reminds me of my yoga instructor saying now we'll hit the mats. No matter what happens with our weight the main thing is to keep coming back here with the sisters. If we could all simply lose the weight and keep it off the first time round the diet programs such as NS, Jenny, and WW would all go out of business..

So some of us gained over the summer/fall and now we are back to reality once more. I don't want to live as a guilt ridden unhealthy person the rest of my life, so I'm trying again..

Yoga three times this week. Then next week the kids are out of school on Monday MLK day, 1/2 days on Weds/Thurs and out of school on Friday. So no yoga on Monday but next Sat I am taking a ball course at the Yoga Studio so that should make up for the loss of one class. Plua next week will involve movies or bowling. With movies comes temptation..

My new keyboard came this week YES. The old one had an issue with G/F and it was driving me crazy. Sometimes it worked and sometimes not and it usually did not work when you had to type up a paper for the association here..

We got up this morning to 3 degrees on our covered deck. Boy that is cold. And we had about 20" of snow here which won't go away too soon..

Enough already. The WM said 6-8 more weeks in this pattern. I say lets fire him and get a new WM..

I will let you know about Staci when I hear. Everyone have a great weekend..

Anne..

Keep me honest, anne. Your schedule would wear me out-I get tired just reading your posts! I spent the afternoon reorganizing, still. Got a huge pile of too big jeans and some sweats and shifted other stuff around. Want to get back into a box full of pretty t-shirts, some never worn. All in good time. Managed to get on the treadmill and even though I was not tired, I kept telling myself to take it like medicine and not bail before the half a mile.

But I refuse to give up!.

Daughter number 2 is getting married in August so I will be keeping that in mind-it may help..

Jerry got a call from a work friend, he went to ER for a horrible headache he's had a while and they kept him-found a mass on his brain so he will be staying for tests. Jerry is visiting him now-of course he is scared. For those of you that pray, send a little Robert's way please. my ER visit was nothing like this..

Stay warm-it actually got up to 59 today. later...

Alright - I finally got back on the treadmill. I always feel better after I do it so you wouldn't think it would be that difficult to motivate myself to get on it. "SIGH" it's that difference between knowing & doing..

Anne - I hear you when you talk about eating out. I'm sure that my "eating out" habits have picked back up and that is definitely a killer for my diet..

Barb - I'm praying for your husband's friend. I'm glad you had a "heat wave". We dropped back to around 16 below..

Bea - I think this group of you, Barb & Anne are a GREAT group of core ladies that definitely made it easy for me to come back..

Lisa - It's always great to hear about a new mother's excitement in the swift changes of their baby! Enjoy it! And WOW - what a workout you do..

I haven't lost any yet for the challenge but I'm now NOT gaining. THIS IS GOOD!.

Take Care All..

Good morning! cold here at 49 but much better than a few days ago. Thanks for the prayers for Jerry's friend. The news is not good. Nine tumors in his brain and cancer in his lungs and pretty much everywhere else. Jer will go to visit again today for a bit and probably stop by after work as long as he is there. The man is only 52 but smoked all his life.

This kind of news is so out of left field non of us expect it or know how to handle it..

Back to my egg fritatta this morning. I cover it with salsa and that works for me. Finally had to pitch all my old bras-they have been dead for years but so comfortable-no longer as they are way too big..

Today is my weigh in. I am down only.

.8.

Lbs. again. Ugh! I'm starting to get discouraged, even though I know a part of it is due to that wonderful time of the month. I was really hoping for a bigger loss. There is always next week.....

Just a quick checkin. Barb - My weight loss went away on the chart. Should be 4.7 to date..

Diana - try to find something you like to do for exercise. The only thing I stick to is Yoga and I've tried many things. For you it may be treadmill, dancing, walking (hard to do year round where you live.) My son in Amsterdam has gone back to running. It's something he enjoys, did a lot of when he was younger, and it keeps his weight down. I hate this week because we don't have any Monday yoga due to MLK day. I do have a Yoga on a Ball course on Saturday though so that may help..

Barb/Bea - glad you guys are here for us. We have been doing this for well over a year now..

Lisa - just keep losing. Small as it may be it all adds up week after week..

I am always amazed that you can put on 10 lbs in a month but you can't take it off that easy; without suffering. Somehow does not seem fair..

Abby come back..

All for now..

Anne..

No loss yet - but I managed to get back on that treadmill for a second time. I think, for me, it is using either the treadmill or a Leslie Sansone walking DVD that will keep me coming back to exercise. You're right ANNE - Alaska doesn't give us many good months for outdoor walking.

I'm hoping to walk most evenings this week so I'll keep you all posted. And I'm hoping that by Sunday I'll at least post a little loss..

Lisa, definitely be encouraged with NSV's they're great motivators. But I do think you're doing outstanding on your weight-ditching journey. (I just wish I hadn't gone back to the "ditch" for some of mine.

)..

A loss for Bea - A loss for Anne - A loss for Barb - A loss for Lisa - I'm dancing for all of you (and it's not because it's 30 below.

Thanks for catching that anne, don't know what happened there. is is right now or do I have it backwards?.

Lisa-'what bea said'. you are showing less than 20 pounds to goal-your body may be fighting to maintain just where you are so keep chipping away and it will come off. the closer you get to your ideal weight, the harder to trim down so the toning you are doing is the best thing. I would be ecstatic if I could record any loss at all but I do understand wanting the scale to show more as a reward for our efforts. keep smiling, you are doing great..

Abby-doing good girl, keep at it and let the good habits reform. we can do it this year too and what a difference it will make!.

I threw out some old slacks yesterday too. they were so comfortable I thought I would use them as a pattern-no more, they would be bags and so, being ripped and threadbare, they went away. I am in the throws of reorganizing 2 of my closets to get more room and weed out extra stuff. I may be forced to set up a table at our neighborhood garage sale day and try to rid myself of some as some things are too good to just donate and I could use the money. Anyone interested in a scanner or a Celestron telescope? the shipping probably wouldn't be worth it. I think I wrenched some muscle in my hip with all my up and down on the step stool so am watching my sideways movements today.

Also got the case lock for the leather case I want to make for my kindle3-the leather place is going out of business in March and things are 50% off so I will be making a return trip before then. I have most things but it never hurts to check things over, especially since he is selling new stamping tools for $4.00!.

Update on Robert-went yesterday to the downtown hospital for chemo treatment to hopefully take some pressure off his brain and took a biopsy of his lung; waiting for results now. At least he is eating really good instead of subsisting on cigarettes, beer and the occasional fast food. Lots of guys visiting so it helps pass the time and he is in the same hospital I was so I know he is being cared for really well..

Stick with it today, one day at a time is all we need to really focus on..

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. I took Bea's advice and took my measurements. I hadn't taken them since I started. Boy, did that help put things in perspective. Here are my stats from November 1 to January 18:.

Waist: down 3 inches.

Hips: down 5.5 inches.

Neck: down 1 inch.

Upper thighs: down 3.5 inches.

Arms: down 1.5 inches.

Overall I am pretty pleased, especially since a lot of the inches seemed to come off my problem areas (hips and thighs). Thanks ladies for everything. Your support means a lot to me!..

Hi Bea! I love love love my kindle. I think my husband is starting to feel neglected because of it haha. I know that he researched the Nook and the Kindle and wound up getting me the Kindle. I'm not sure the reason though. I thought it had something to do with the screen, but I just looked up the nook and it appears to have the same non-glare, just like paper reading experience as the Kindle has so I don't know. I don't think you can go wrong with either product!..

I love my Kindle too! I've had it since September & I admit when I bought my new treadmill I had my Kindle with me and made sure the "reading board" was just right for it.

The hubby thinks it's great because I no longer watch home improvement shows and "suggest" projects for our house - AND - he gets to watch all the sports he wants and hardly ever hears a whine out of me..

I have a friend who has the Nook and she loves it as well. I've heard there are more "new" free offers for the Kindle, but I can't say if that's for sure. You can borrow from your public library with your Nook (not the Kindle) but the selection is very limited. I do not like the touch screen part of the Nook (probably because I'm not of the iPod generation)..

Overall - I'd say it's one of the technological wonders of the "I could live without it, but I don't want to" variety. Also, considering I'm carrying around 800 books in my purse (most of those were free), I'd say it's a definite space saver. I could go on & on about it, but then you'd know what I've been doing rather than exercising...

Lisa-great stats there! goes to show you never know just how weight is distributed on our bodies. I was in a TOPS club many moons ago and a gal there was maintaining her goal. She 'only' took of 18 pounds and it never seemed like a big deal because she was very slim and tall and pretty to boot. Then she brought in a house dress she used to wear (always wears slacks at home now) and put it on. It was an enormous bag-looked at least 5 sizes too big. she had carried all of her weight in her hips and they must have been huge.

So, keep track and be happy!.

Bea- I love my kindle3 a ton. I read countless forums and reviews and decided on the kindle as having a wider range of books available. All mine are free and mostly downloaded from Project Gutenberg some via kindle stores when at the library using their free wifi, but most directly from their site and transferred via usb cable. I only have 143 books so far but will get more. I love having all the options with me-if there were only a way to transfer my whole text library to it! As for the Nook being in color-that was not a plus for me as I wanted this as a book reader. I don't see anything with that small a screen being good enough for picture books for me.

Coffee table books are still the way to go but for the enjoyment of reading, the kindle is great..

I have read if you are really into organizing your books, magazines, newspapers etc. a Sony reader has more abilities but I never looked into it. I wanted something that had been around long enough to have the bugs worked out. Third generation seemed pretty good to me..

I honestly had not thought of putting it on the treadmill-do you find you need to enlarge the type? it's a wonderful screen for contrast and you never have a page where the ink is getting faded. I will have to give it a whirl. Music is nice to walk to but if I could read I might walk even longer..

As for Robert, his procedures have been postponed until tomorrow. He just had this persistent headache so went to the ER. I remember Jer saying he's had headaches before but only now and then. The pressure must have just been too much this time. I talked to him today and he sounded fine but that's just a voice..

Diana-I see you have knocked off 5 miles so far-good for you!..

Where do you ladies go for your free books for the Kindle? I have downloaded a bunch of classics for free but haven't really ventured past Amazon's library...

Amazon gets most from here.

Small collection of sci-fi.

Haven't tried them yet but more modern authors.

Just remember to download the .mobi format, then transfer to your kindle via the USB cable...

Also, if you're on facebook - you can "Like" Pixel of Ink and she continually updates the free offers of newer books for Kindles in all kinds of categories, as well as lists many of the "bargain" books. Most of my downloads have come from Amazon, but I have gotten a few from guttenberg.org and manybooks.net. I believe one of those sites lets you download with an amazon format without worrying about mobi, but I might be mistaken on that..

I have (I must confess) downloaded quite a few 0.99 books as well. It's kind of addictive..

Barb - I do increase the font size when I walk. It makes it easier while I'm bobbing my head. It does mean I have to turn the page quicker, but I'm counting that as "exercise" for my arms LOL!.

And "writing" of exercise - I need to go get that done. My 600 miles is my goal for the whole year in case you were wondering. Barb you're almost a third of the way to your goal. I do books on CD, Kindle or Warehouse 13 while I'm walking on the treadmill. Music doesn't keep me motivated enough..

Alright - now I'm really going to exercise...

Castner Glacier - taken around Christmas 2010. Just in case anyone is interested..

Hope that works. Just trying something new ladies...

The glacier lives up to it's name-looks cold! I'll take it in photos please..

I tried increasing the font and that was nice. I think I'll try turning it sideways too. I can increase it just a bit and not need my glasses at all even off the treadmill. It's getting so I need them a bit more all the time-I can still manage but why make it hard on myself? so I used my readers whenever-so frustrating to get up close and not be able to focus!.

I think I saw a kindle format somewhere too but the .mobi works fine so maybe it doesn't matter? not sure what the kindle dedicated format does differently..

I'll check out the facebook page too for the ebooks. I'm too cheap to buy books if I don't have to and not really interested in most of the newer authors. Too many older books to read; just like my dvd and vhs collections-there are not enough hours left in my LIFE to watch them all.

What do you all think of the new front page? I'm not crazy about it. and when you go to the daily dose, you have to back up to the main page to go anywhere else. I like having the links on each page...

Thanks for all the tips! Off I go to book shop..

Good Morning - I managed to get on the treadmill last night.

However, my eating habits still need work..

Barb - I don't think I've noticed much of a change in theNutrisystemhome page. I almost always use the menu bar at the top of the screen to navigate after reading the Daily Dose. It could be because I was away for so long that I didn't notice the change either..

Need to get back to work - but I wanted to post a good update (exercise) as well as the bad (eating habits)..

BTW - to any who do not have a Kindle, you can download a free Kindle for PC program and still take advantage of all the free books and ebooks, but you'll have to read them on your computer screen (backlit) which isn't as easy on my eyes anyway..

TTFN..

Diana-must have been a glitch this morning. I do the same as you do and just now it was normal..

The project gutenberg books are free and you can download them to read on the pc from their site. A good deal of Amazon's free books like the older classics are from Gutenberg and they say so on the download. For the other books on Amazon, you would need to do as diana suggested as those are formatted for the kindle. if it says from gutenberg, just go to that site and you won't have to bother..

I don't care for reading on the pc either, that is why I got the kindle. I know the nook has back lighting for reading without other light but not sure if it is on all the time or an option. I didn't care for that because it was like reading on the pc. to each his own!.

Good for you for the exercise and you will watch your eating better and better. Try on some of your summer clothes and that should give you a little incentive and the time to work on it...

Good morning sisters..

42 this morning which is, dare I say, normal. Jerry is actually going to work again-almost seems strange for him to work each day but we are so thankful for it..

Found out two things yesterday-the noise the fan on my pc was making was because the fan housing needed major dusting and it is back to being quiet and able to be left on at night for diagnostics, updates etc. will have to put it on my calendar to clean regularly and not let it get so bad. My previous computer I only cleaned 3 times in 9 years-what a workhorse! new home, no pets but more dust apparently..

Did throw out some more clothes-I like to wear mine out! but there are some that soon will be a donate situation as this one size has a lot that are nice and lots of life left in them..

Will try to walk and read today as I do want to get both in. My daughter in Denver tells me her children do not like to read-always shocks me. We both feel it is the very lousy method they are using in the schools which does not allow for different speeds of learning but rather labels everyone 'slow' if they can't get it right away. The amount of homework pushed on a second grader out there is ridiculous. She spends a great deal of time home schooling them to try to keep up but in some ways it's a losing battle. I am thinking of sending emails to each of them on the weekends when they are with her so they can at least sit and READ something.

Just short notes so they at least can function better in the world. If they were closer, we could do more. Of course if they were here, the schools in our county are very highly rated..

Stick with the plan and remember to drink your water. Here's a motto I have had for a long time and it really does work-if you follow it..

DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO.

DO IT WHEN IT HAS TO BE DONE.

DO IT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.

Popping in. I love my Nook although I must admit I have not used it as much as I had hoped. I will be into it more in the warm weather months, that's when I love to read. When the days are so short I am busy during the day and then the dark nights make me sleepy and reading only intensifies that..

I chose the Nook because I loved the touch screen and the color feature. I can get some of my magazines on it which is nicer than having stacks of unread ones waiting for me on the coffee table. I can also lend books with my niece..

I am a big Barnes & Noble fan. Have been using them on-line for my books for years. Got over $150 in gift cards from friends and family this Xmas and put it in my Nook Library. I draw it down as I see new novels I just have to read; usually James Patterson etc..

For .99 I put on some bibles for my EFM course and of course a dictionary. I also bought some books on Amsterdam. I am going there in Feb with the grandaughter to see the son. The bibles are much easier to read on the NOOK and I can read them without comment in the doctors office etc..

I will take my NOOK which should be easier than carrying regular books with me to Amsterdam..

I have WIFI at home so the NOOK is enabled here. I can go to B&N, browse, and then download..

They say the nook is also a good choice if you are downloading kids books which are mostly in color..

Enough of NOOK..

This week will certainly not be a good one. Kids have been out of school almost all week with exams and storms. Two lunchs out already and even choosing good I won't lose..

We are having more snow here tomorrow and then another storm next week. We are also getting some of Diana's cold this weekend. Minus numbers at night and zero during the day. This is never going to end. Barb - my stats should read 4.7 lbs lost - 5.3 lbs to go..

Lisa - great stats. You really see the impact of your weight loss in them. Hope everyone stays warm and healthy..

Will be back..

Anne..

Anne - my friend loves her touch screen as well, but she has the older version Nook which is only black & white. I've heard Nook is excellent for magazines and books with illustrations. I can loan books now as well, but I've never tried it. It seems to be limited to certain books that the publisher approves for loaning (or maybe it's the author) etc. I've noticed that some folks get very heated up about whether you should have a Kindle or a Nook. Personally I think whichever one works for ya.

I like my local Barnes&Noble store and use it for music all the time..

Sounds like there's snow everywhere (except for Barb). It's getting cold here ladies. It's close to -45 at my house (which sits in a depression-area). It's around -40 in Fairbanks where I work. BRRRRRRRRRR.......

I didn't get on the treadmill last night - too many other things get me away from home. Finally got home around 10:00 and should have got on immediately, but I put it off and then it got to be way too late. Hopefully tonight!.

Stay warm & healthy...

Good morning friends..

All I can do is send this.

It is nicer than it has been here; getting rain on and off which is good because we are behind. My sister in Ohio said it was 17 the other day. I don't like it to get below 72 in the house-I am so totally spoiled..

I checked out that fat freeze link. They do emphasize it is for small places the size of a stick of butter and not for weight loss so it's out. Good thing at $750 a treatment!.

No loss again for me this week-sigh. Had my muffin since I ordered a bunch this last time. Next order is mostly egg frittata..

My daughter figured out that her stomach trouble was a reaction from too much Splenda so she askedNutrisystemfor a list of all foods that contain it and took them off her order. I have the list if anyone needs it. Should I post it on my page?.

I am getting things done around the house. Keeping busy helps me not want to munch anything except my huge salad in the afternoon..

Organization feels good but is such a pain!.

Stick with it and stay warm..

Hey - Sorry for all the below CHILLS - and I can definitely say that freezing my "fat" has NOT made me thinner.

Got home the other day when it was 40 below and found our water line frozen. Fortunately it had just happened so they hadn't burst and the hubby is pretty handy so he went out in the dark and cold and worked his magic. Two hours later - we had water. The next day we bought new Heat Tape for the well line..

Bea - I don't envy you the wind chill factor. We rarely have wind in the North Pole/Fairbanks area so that helps. And it's a dry cold not a wet one which also helps. Hope things have warmed up for you now..

Barb - thanks for the sunshine. I haven't lost anything yet, but I'm not gaining. I need to be patient and keep at it. Maybe next Sunday will show some progress..

Take Care All...

And a frosty Monday to you all. Woke up to 34 so it didn't get to the 27 predicted. Jerry made the rounds and shut off all the outside faucets before he went to work. I really think we need to invest in heat tape ourselves and some heavy extensions for just these times. dripping the faucets so much and the heat pump going so often has pushed our utility bill up almost double. I would run the cords so I would plug them in at the last moment and could unplug first thing in the morning.

And you all thought we didn't have seasons! in NE Florida we certainly do. No snow but that's fine by me and even in Ohio I had the AC on all summer and couldn't sit on our deck for the bugs. Here I can sit in our lanai with a fan on and just veg..

I'll be wearing a winter coat for my meals on wheels this morning and hopefully take it off before I'm done. art tonight-will be doing a test print to see if I have enough of the background carved away on my gorilla. haven't had time to make up the 2 sessions I missed..

Diana-I know exactly what you mean about dry cold. I spent a year of high school with my grandparents in Alliance, Nebraska in the panhandle and walked to school in 30 below temperatures. Very dry but we did have wind at times, more in the summer than winter-those days we stayed home. People with slanted driveways would have heat lines buried in the concrete so they could get up them to the garage. they used sand on the roads as that is plentiful. Here it is so damp that any cold is more chilling, like in Ohio..

Maintaining is good-much better than too much bouncing up and down..

Each day is a new beginning, each minute. It doesn't matter what we did or didn't do-ate the wrong food, too much of the right one, didn't exercise etc. start again and don't look back, focus on the goal, not the hurdles..

Morning! It is so cold here! About 11 degrees. This is not typical for South Jersey, but the past few winters for us have been brutal. I continuously think of my honeymoon in Hawaii just to get through the day! Last night I thinking about last March when I was pregnant and remembered that we had a really mild March with really nice sunny, semi-warm days. Here's to hoping we get that again and I will only have to endure this awful cold for another month and a half or so....

So I weighed in today to find I am down 2 lbs! I am so excited. I really watched my salt intake this week and that seems to have helped. Salt is not good to me! So I have been tracking and working out. I am trying to find ways to work out so I don't miss any time with Ryan. So far, so good. I'm not much of a morning person so working out before work is not really an attractive idea to me.

Then during the weekdays I worked out during lunch and took Tuesday and Thursday as my rest day. I usually go home at lunch to eat and play with Ryan (my mom watches him), but lately he's been taking his afternoon nap so now I am trying to utilize that time to workout, jump in the shower, and rush back to work. So now my nights are free and I can just enjoy time with my hubby and son. This week he's really doing well trying to sit up on his own...Ryan, not my husband. Jason has the whole sitting on his own thing nailed..

I hope everyone is having a great week. Congrats on your losses! Stay warm!!!..

Lisa-way to go girl! I think you have this whole working-dieting-mommy-wife thing nailed too! your day and week sounds like a healthy plan-busy but who isn't? Look at your chart and be amazed-you are a poster girl for us:0.

Much nicer this morning-53, gloomy and supposed to rain. Jerry is off again and not happy but that is the job right now..

I worked on my lino cut last night and made my first prints-they are going to be awesome. I have to get it right about how much ink to put in the block-right now I have one print with just a few spots that didn't take and one where it almost has a faded look (but not nice). will do a double session next week so I can catch up the lesson time I missed and have more time to concentrate on getting the ink right. I ran out of time so didn't take any photos-did I say we were all busy?.

Had my muffin and tea-trying to just check off the boxes and not think about food..

"Nope," comes dad's reply, "I'm gonna sit here and kick the back of your seat as you drive, just like you've been doing to me all these years."..

O you all are doing great & I'm boot-scootin for you all. If I knew how to add cute little dancing figures I'd do it.

Guess I'll stick with the smiley faces..

I'm walking & maintaining, but still hopeful that Sunday will show a little decrease. Gotta get back to work so Ta-Ta-For-Now...

EXACTLY - just what I don't know how to do - but it looks like it's just a matter of posting the right link. Thanks Barb!..

Hi - Sorry to be MIA but has been busy up here with storms and appointments. No loss this week to post Barb. Knew it would not be good. Will catch up with the postings later..

Kids are here. Another snow day. I think they have had 4 already this winter. Tooooooooo much snow..

Anne- I feel for you! Snow can be so beautiful to look at if you don't have to be out in it. My sister back in Ohio said they have already run through their snow days-used to have 5 but is cut to 3 and they have been off 4 already. we rarely had a snow day in Hudson when I drove school bus unless the whole surrounding area was socked in; our road crews were fantastic. they would go out to the edges of the district just to salt/plow where the buses had a rough time and then go back and do the main roads etc. before school started. Have some hairy stories about driving in snow and ice!.

No loss for me either but staying positive. I know I walked my half mile and probably more yesterday and I am going to log it as such. I transferred hundreds of vhs tapes from one place to another, 8-10 at a time and did it in several sessions-plenty of walking for me yesterday and more on the list for today. I am also piling up the too big clothes for Vietnam Vets to collect next month..

Having my egg frittata again; made it 99% on plan yesterday so concentrating on that. My huge salad in the afternoon and staying busy helped a lot. I have a pair of shorts that I could wear but they are just not loose enough for my taste so that is an incentive as well..

No loss - ARG - but then I was sick for a couple of days & then I got TOM so what can I say. It also kept me off the treadmill (or I allowed it to). I'm shooting for a 100%Nutrisystemday - so far so good - but it's the evening that messes with me.

..

I'm feeling for all of you dealing with nasty weather. Stay safe & warm...

Diana-ditto for me. My body loves to maintain this weight! and my bad time is the early afternoon. I remember chewing gum nonstop when I was in high school and trimmed down to what would be a size 8 in today's measurements. If I do a big salad that seems to be the answer but I admit I do popcorn too often and it's not good for me any more. Treadmill keeps calling but I am turning a deaf ear. Trying some chair exercises-we'll see how that goes since I am sitting a lot.

Hang in there, better than giving up...

Ok so I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to reveal here on this board, but I am really getting frustrated and don't know what to do. I was hoping you ladies could help. It's about being "regular." I recently started to take a multivitamin and when it came to the bathroom, my body has been like clockwork. Same time every day. Now that I've been taking the multivitamin, I haven't gone in about three days! I'm so frustrated.

I track everything so I know I'm getting plenty of fiber. I'm thinking it's the iron. My body never did well with iron, but honestly that's why I'm taking the multi, because my doctor said I'm slightly anemic. My question for you ladies is do I continue to take it and hopefully my body will eventually adjust and become regular again, do I stop taking it completely, or do I continue to take it but make some more changes to my diet? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I am starting to get uncomforable..

I would definitely stay on the multivitamin. You didn't mention your water intake and exercise, but I know that these components are extremely important to stay regular. Also, you could try something gentle on your body, such as Benefiber, if you wanted to. They have flavor packs you can add to your water...

I drink about 70-80 oz. of water a day. I also exercise 5 days a week so I really don't know what more to do. I will try benefiber. Hopefully that will help. Thanks!!!..

Lisa - I know just getting onNutrisystemblocked me up for a while - and I believe it was Anne here on this board who suggested adding ground flax. I found it at my local grocery story in the healtfood section and started adding a tablespoon or two a day to either my salad or to green beans. It did seem to help. Yet there is an argument that says my body had finally just "adjusted" to the change. Hope you get your answer soon...

Lisa-this is an on going issue with me as well. I was fine onNutrisystemuntil I was prescribed a pain med. that I only took four capsules. ever since, it has been a battle. I also suck up the water, add psyllium (that's all benefiber is) and lots of salad. Not blocked up but holding on to way too much-hence my no loss for too long..

With your exercise and fiber intake you may want to try adding prunes or prune juice if you like them. they are natural and can help. I like both so I feel if I didn't add those I would really be in trouble..

No need to worry about this issue-nearly everyone has it to some degree and there are threads about it in the general forum. Iron can have that quality to it. Ask your dr. if you can add iron in a different form. Spinach is rich in iron but is a vegetable source and not as well absorbed by the body. Here's a link with a short list and a bit of info:.
