About 2 years ago, I started Nutrisystem and lost 102lbs, I thought forever. After maintaining for almost a year hovering between 202 and 208 I got lazy. Started slacking on exercise and slipping in more and more unhealthy snacks and slowly, over the course of 10 months, I found that I had put on 40lbs!!! I kept lying to myself as I watched the scale climb, saying oh it's only a few lbs, I can take it off.... Well, without dedication and a goal, you can't..

So here I am, recommitted and ready to do it again. I know this program works, all you have to do is stick with it. My signature says that Quitters never lose and Losers never Quit. Well, I quit last time and you can see the results..

Time to get down to it...

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an anything. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably know..

Right here with ya, back for my second go-round after 110 lbs lost 3 yrs ago and 80 regained since then after maintenance failure (read: maintenance non-engagement). Just working thru my first week, it's going great already, I feel "de-tox'd". Looking forward to trading re-success stories with you. :-)..

Welcome back!! I remember you from the "good ole days" when I started in Nov of '08. Good job stopping the slide NOW!.

For all of you guys on Round 1 - remember that Maintenance is, in many ways, harder than losing. It's never to early too start planning your post-goal strategy. If I had stopped Nutrisystem at that point and stopped hanging here on the boards, with weekly, publicly posted weigh-ins, I have no doubt - no doubt at all - that I'd have gained all 100 back by now..

If I've said it once, I've said it 100 times. Goal is not the end, it's the BEGINNING!!.

I remember you, too. Been there, done that and am back again..

When I started my auto-deliver they would not give me my old name and site back (Better-40), allowing me to edit my order plan or get Daily Dose points. I had to start all over. It seems like you got your old site back. I think.


Goofed up telling me, "Some of the old sites can not be migrated into their new system." Why me and not others?.

Boy those of you coming back are to be commended. Problem is you are all scaring me. I am a first rounder, and I am enjoying my progress. I don't want to go back, but it seems that many of us do slip back. Gordon, I appreciate your post, and your recommendation that I start planning my post-goal strategy. Guess I need to do my homework.

Any other tips besides the regular WI and checkins?.

Once you're at or near goal: Yes, be scared...but more appropriately, just be vigilant and watch for the signs of relapse. Gordon is correct, start planning your post-goal strategy well before you get there, but then remember to EXECUTE it (that was my failure...didn't execute)...

Learn about proper portions..

Learn about nutrition..

Learn about your body and how it functions..

Learn how to make one meal a week "off Nutrisystem food" with "real" food..

Learn how to manage social food events..

Learn about yourself..

It is a great journey of fantastic discoveries, enjoy the ride...

Even 15 months post-goal, I'm still learning this Maintenance thing..

IMO, the most important thing is the regular WI's and checkins as long as you take them seriously and don't try to fool yourself or go into denial. Drive your weight to below goal, because it's common to have a bounce on "normal" foods. Then, set yourself a mainenance range, with an upper limit you REFUSE to go over!.

I also agree whole-hartedly with keeping your auto-delivery in place, with delays. I, for one, have not learned the most important lesson from Nutrisystem - how to eat responsibly on my own, so I rely on my BBB virtually 50%. Keeps me grounded and gives me a recovery route when my inner knucklehead takes over. I don't mind because IMO, it's cheaper than how my knucklehead eats, extremely convenient, and I like it. That being said, I still have it on my "to do" list to learn how to eat responsibly w/out my trusty NS..

Like Gordon said the most important lesson to learn is how to eat responsibly on my own..

The first time I got to see the actual Nutrisystem food (I followed the meal planner for a month on my own before ordering my BBB), I understood the idea was portion control. I also understood these were MRE's (in essence) and are super disaster food [I live in Manhattan] to have on hand anyway; so I have an eye on keeping some on hand even when I'm weened completely off NS. I've found items that I genuinely look forward to eating believe it or not!.

So, let's hear what our second timers learned in their journey away from here?.

What was "it" that made you realize you didn't learn a key ingredient to lifetime success?.

Own it and own up to it...

I must point out that the food has improved since my first go-round 3 years ago. I custom-ordered many/most of the same entrees that I liked the first time, and they've done some good tweaks to many of them that are taste- and texturally-improved, IMHO...

This is easy for me. I started by "testing the waters" to see what "bad" foods I could get away with after I reached goal, then a few more here and there, and then before you know it I was a complete carb-overload junkie again, along with complete loss of portion control, and also a late-night snacker again..

As an added bonus, I suffered a major back injury (unrelated to any of this; just bad luck) about 6 months after I reached goal that put me on the shelf exercise-wise for several months, so while my eating habits were going in the tank, I then couldn't offset any of it physically. Double-whammy. By the time my back healed, I had already lost the exercise mojo as a regular routine. So I suffered the psychological blow from the "motivation" standpoint, and came to accept "fat Dave" again. And then I rationalized it by telling myself that it was OK that I had only regained 80 of the 110 lbs I had lost..."hey, I'm still under 300 this time"..

As I described on a couple other threads around here lately, I tolerated this rationalization for the past 9 months or so, and I finally decided I've had enough and here I am, back on the stick...
