Good question... I dunno what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably can answer it..
I know they had a lot of "discussion" on the recipe board about 2-3 months ago on using the ziplock bags for omelets..
I think that there are recipes on the Glad site - but I'm not positive that they omelets are there - I'd have to go check again. I had gotten an email from the glad company the other day and saw the "cooking" in the bags and thought of the discussion here a fe months ago. It had gotten rather "heated" about how dangerous it was! Now evidently it's not dangerous with this new product..
Edit: This is Glad's listing:.
They have an omelet right in their index.
Here is ziplocks listing:.
Glad has product info and recipes at.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these bags! I travel in my RV on business all week and they have been wonderful...no cleanup and the veggies are incredible. Bravo!..
I agree! I love these bags. Very easy, food comes out perfect, and no cleanup...
Welcome back Pam. I know you had a fabulous time! The pictures I did see were fantastic..
I love these bags too. I am not a big fan of "cooking" in the microwave - BUT these bags make me happy to do it. I probably shouldn't do this but I sometimes "reused" the bag. If I make broccoli at "lunch" instead of a salad - I will save it for dinner when I make the rest of the broccoli for dinner. I've done it with green beans too. But I've only reused them once - then I toss them.
No harm no foul. I wonder how many times I could re-use them???.....may have to experiment with that too..
I'm thinking of trying some of the other recipes they show on the websites. A few of the chicken ones sound pretty good - and I'm sure we could make them Nutrisystem friendly if they aren't already. Oh heck I may even try that omelet ... then if I like it (using eggbeaters) I may start taking breakfast to work too - then use my breakfast at home time for a quick mile or two...
I am going to have to get me some of these. Thanks for the links. I may have to try the apple instead of doing it in a bowl...
I picked a few up today. I am going to try a few of the recipes..
Kat, I've reused the bags, also. After the first time, I rinse them it out carefully and then prop it (open) over my wooden spoons to dry. They feel brittle after the second time, though, so I always throw them out at that point. (I use the large bags filled to capacity so the microwave time is 4-5 mins. The smaller bags with a shorter microwave time might be okay to reuse more times.) I also put just veggies in mine, maybe with a little Mrs. Dash or other seasoning. I didn't find anything on the Glad site saying not to reuse them...
