First question I got is How long to lower cholesterol by 100 points with Dukan Diet and exercise? Looking forward for any comment. Second question.. Reading all of the pumpkin recipes prompted me to post....

I went to three different stores looking for canned pumpkin...every store was sold out! So I bought a small pumpkin pie pumpkin, cut it in half, removed the seeds, cut it into 2" X 2" chunks, steamed it until done, let it cool, then scooped the pumpkin out of each piece. I used it in several recipes and it was so much better than canned pumpkin. I am on my way to the store to get another pumpkin or two or three. I think I will freeze it in 1/2 cup servings...

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Dukan Diet as they probably could give you an answer..

I looked for canned pumpkin yesterday in the canned veggies and canned fruit aisles, but it wasn't there. I found it with the dried fruit and canned pie filling..who'd a known!..

Yes, the canned pumpkin is found in the baking aisle...

What do the calories work out to be for canned pumpkin? I was thinking of maybe using it in some stuff..?..

Carb Cal Fat Prot.

19.8 83 0.7 2.7.

Per 1 cup. I prefer to use the steamed and mashed like the OP uses. It freezes well and has no artifical color ingredients. I find the spices blend better too...

What does it count as? Or does that just depend on what meal you use it for?..

This is what the Dietitian previously posted about pumpkin:.

One can count it 2 ways on the plan: 1 cup for one fruit serving or 1/2 cup for one vegetable serving. That is for plain boiled, drained and mashed...

Great Idea - because squash and pumpkin freeze excellently. I cut mine in half and bake them on tinfoil lined pan, then when done, scoop it right into freezer bags. When I take it out of the freezer, it tastes just like it came out of the garden..

I bought some in the freezer section - came in a little square box, and was the consistency of runny baby food. Uggghh. Never do that again...

LOL! I found the little square frozen box yesterday too...looked at it, then put it back. I am now glad that I did not buy it...
