Pear Butter (for pancakes, muffins or whatever).

Posted by: Duchess of Dukan Diet on: 02/13/05.

4 ripe but firm Bartlett pears (1-1 1/4 pounds), peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch chunks.

3/4 cup pear nectar.

Place pears and pear nectar in heavy medium saucepan; bring to simmer. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until very tender, 30 to 35 minutes. Cooking time will vary depending on ripeness of pears. Mash with potato masher. Cook, uncovered, over medium-low heat, stirring often, until puree has cooked down to a thick mass (somewhat thicker than applesauce), 20 to 30 minutes. Stir almost constantly toward the end of cooking.

Makes about 1 cup. Per tablespoon: 22 calories; 0 g fat; 6 g carbohydrate; 0 g protein; 1 g fiber; 1 mg sodium. Enjoy!.

1 small pear, diced (or a small apple).

1 package Dukan Diet pancake mix.

Couple dashes ground cinnamon.

1/8 tsp. vanilla extract.

1 egg.

1/3 cup milk.

2 packets Splenda.

1-2 Tbs. chopped Pecans (or walnuts).

Mix it all together. Spray a skillet, pour in the mixture, and place on medium-low heat. Cover. Cook till bottom is nicely browned and the top appears done. Can flip it over to brown the top side a bit. Spray the brownest side with ICBINB and eat! Serves one, and includes a fruit and a protein serving and a few extra calories for the nuts..

There may be more in my collection - breakfast & snack/dessert files check it out.

And look also at stuff with apples - many should work with pear instead.

My parents have several apple, peach and a few pear trees too. Just remember anything you do with an apple you can do with pears or combine them. I like them with cottage cheese...

Yep also mix either with the cottage cheese and a dab of Walden Farms Caramel Dip - quite tasty..

My Mom has three huge OLD pear trees and I LOVE them!!! For my fruit, I peel one, chop it up, sprinkle with both cinnamon and splenda and nuke in microwave for a couple minutes. Wonderful!!! I will eat them plain like that, or put over the scones, or top with Vanilla Yogurt! YUMMMMM!!!..

You could put them in a bowl with Dukan Diet granola..

I like to saute pear slices in SF Davinci Carmel syrup and put.

Them over dark greens (salad)..

Not sure if you still have pears to do something with but I just peeled & sliced mine and vaccum sealed them and froze like I do with my apples. Not sure what I will do with them yet. I have seen on google recipes for a pear pie which I've never made. (not Dukan Diet friendly & I may play around with that some day)...

My mom used to make a simple pear salad that I loved...lettuce leaves, topped with 1 canned pear half, topped with shredded cheddar cheese. And here's my personal favorite salad (which you could make with canned pears instead of fresh, just skip the warming step). I used to make this salad when I was on Weight Watchers and it is 3 points/serving. I haven't figured the Dukan Diet stats yet, but you could adjust as needed (use SF syrup, RF cheese, etc.) ....

Pear-and-Gorgonzola Salad with Maple Dressing.

Makes 3 servings.

1 tablespoon maple syrup.

1 tablespoon olive oil.

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar.

1/2 tablespoon fresh-squeezed lime juice.

1/8 teaspoon salt.

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.

6 cups baby salad greens of your choice.

1 ripe pear (or fruit of your choice; strawberries and apples are good too).

2 tablespoons crumbled Gorgonzola cheese (or feta or blue cheese).

2 tablespoons dried cranberries.

2 tablespoons chopped LeAnns Pecans (recipe follows).

1. Heat oven to 300 degrees F. (Note: skip steps 1 and 4 is using any fruit besides pears.).

2. To make dressing, combine first 6 ingredients (maple syrup through pepper), stirring well with a whisk; set aside..

3. Wash and spin-dry baby greens; set aside..

4. Cut pear in half and core. Place in oven for 5 minutes to warm. Slice warm pear into slices..

5. Toss greens with dressing..

6. Place 2 cups greens on each of 3 salad plates. Sprinkle Gorgonzola, cranberries, and pecans over the top. Arrange pear slices on plates..

Yield: 3 servings.

1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper.

Stir together 1/4 cup sugar, warm water and vanilla extract until sugar dissolves. Add pecans; stir and soak 10 minutes. Drain; discard liquid..

Combine 2 tablespoons sugar, chili powder, and red pepper. Add pecans; toss to coat. Place pecans in a single layer on a non-stick baking sheet sprayed with butter-flavor cooking spray..

Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until golden brown, stirring once. Do not overcook. Transfer to a plate and allow to cool before separating and/or chopping..

I like to eat a pear as a breakfast cobbler.Someone mentioned in a bowl with the granola, but someone had once posted the breakfast cobbler with whatever fruit you like:.

1 small pear, diced up, sweetened with a little splenda, and sprinkled with cinnamon, then microwaved until bubbly..

Slightly crush the Dukan Diet granola, and sprinkle on top of the pear and juices, pressing down lightly into the juices..

Let cool while you shower..

Eat your pear breakfast cobbler, along with your choice of breakfast protein...

This is exactly what I was thinking - some kind of pear tart or pear cobbler...

Yum. I just put pears on my shopping list!..

I love this idea. Quick and easy. I'm always in a rush in the mornings!.

Thanks!..

Pear sauce is yummy. You make it exactly like apple sauce - toss the fruit into a pot, or slow/rice cooker until mushy, then whiz it in the blender to puree. I don't even bother peeling them..

You can use it like applesauce. Imagine a pear Paul's bundt cake!..

What I like to do with pears ? I cut them up with skin, top Dukan Diet cooked oatmeal, spray with ICBINB. Loaded with fiber and very filling..

My favorite way to eat pears are so simple. I like them with ff cottage cheese. And I also like them in SF lime jello...

Oh, my! Wish I was your neighbor!.

I love pears. I have an aunt that always gave us whatever we could take & that pear tree is extremely old by now. We had 2 pear trees in the house I used to live in, here. We lost them to fire blight. Anyway, enjoy lots for me..

We used to put cottage cheese in a pear halve or used them like apples in pie...

By the way.....cut a fresh pear in half and eat with a spoon......YUM!..
