Sarah........ this is the safe place to whine and grumble and be all the things that being on a "diet" can bring up emotionally. Its hard chosing to eat healthy foods that will get you to your goal - and it's hard staying away from all those things that we think taste so wonderful that will take us farther from our goal!.
Focus on why you're doing this not on what you're missing because you're doing this..
Stay strong........ you've come to far to let a stupid "goodie" derail you! Break it down it's nothing but sugar (empty calories), fat (yucky artery clogging gunk), flour (dry wheat kernels that have been pulverized into powder) and some other stuff to make it all stick together! Yuck..... who wants to put that in their mouth!.
So, at the end of the day come back and let us all know that you made it through the day VICTORIOUS!..
Perhaps you are just whiney and grumpy BECAUSE it is TOM, and you're just projecting it on not being able to have food? I've learned that my TOM's are a dangerous time to be around me because I USED to appease those hormones with food, to numb out. Now I don't, and I get just as irritable as the next girl right around that time. So celebrate it! And chew some gum!..
I feel like I'm a lot moodier on this diet than normal, particularly TOM or when I wait too long to eat.
And you are so right, it's not that you can't, it's that you won't. You have a goal for yourself. That treat will be there when you are done dieting, and likely by then, you won't even want it because it's not that you can't, it's not that you won't, it's that you've moved past that point of feeling denied.
You've lost 33 pounds! You are 2 pounds from goal! That is awesome! Now go have some MFing chocolate pudding..
LOL! Thanks guys. Your encouragement did the trick and the pudding was delicious!..
You have come a long ways and are so close to goal. When I have that TOM I will look at a clothes magazine or even go to Ross or TJ Maxx and look at the clothes I am going to purchase when I meet my goal...
Oh man, my TOM is emotionally horrible now. It used to be ok but either the soy, low calorie, or something is making me downright awful for 3+ days every month. Sigh. At least exercise helps me a bit...
What if you tried baking with the products - muffins, etc. Maybe that would help satisfy your cravings and make you feel like you were eating something different. Just an idea..
Lyn- I have done this and it has helped. Yesterday was a BAD day. I didn't go off plan, but it was a struggle. I made a shake cake and that hit the spot.
I know about the TOM struggles! Pre-Medifast I didn't really have bad periods (emotionally bad anyways), but I agree, maybe it's the low calories or something? My work out yesterday helped too and I think I'm gonna go on a short run this morning. I haven't run in 4 months, so I'm excited to get back out there. I know that this too shall pass. Thank you for listening to my whine. Waking up to words of encouragement and knowing that I'm not alone really helped...
I'd be careful substituting Medifast products for junk to give into cravings. Once we are off Medifast we can't go back to old ways and still expect to keep off the pounds, so I highly recommend finding non-food ways to cope with PMS, anger, loneliness, etc.....
