Question I have... Has any one had good results by doing flex plan with Nutrisystem? Thanks in advance for any response. Another quick question... I have been on Nutrisystem for about four weeks and making great progress. Next week, I'm going to Mexico for vacation and don't want to backslide, but I also want to have a margarita and some Mexican food. Anyone have any real-life tips to help?..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could answer your Nutrisystem question..

You can totally do this if you concentrate on grilled veggies and grilled fish. Skip the chips, tortillas, refried beans, cheese, sauces, fried foods, desserts. Personally I'd recommend skipping margaritas they're full of sugar, and they're going to kick your carb cravings into overdrive. A lite beer or glass of dry wine or a dry martini or gin-and-soda is a much better choice..

Try to avoid approaching it as "I'm on vacation, and I've already blown my diet. Might as well blow it big." Calories are cumulative. EACH new meal is an opportunity to make a good choice. I like to go on vacation thinking, "I just want to not GAIN." That helps keep me from getting into free-for-all mode. I might, for instance, decide that I'm going to have a grilled fish soft taco and a glass of wine. Not perfect, but also not a fried burrito, half a basket of chips, and a giant frozen margarita, and I'm still having Mexican food..

Get lots of exercise...

We go to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta several times a year. In December, I broughtNutrisystemmuffins and scones for breakfast andNutrisystembars for lunch. I completely "behaved" during the day with only a few light beers around the pool. But, I let myself have whatever I wanted at dinner because many of the local delicacies cannot be enjoyed at home. In the end, I gained 3-4 pounds, but they quickly came off in a few weeks because my safety net (NS) gently caught me when I arrived home..

I'm not telling you to cheat, I'm just saying thatNutrisystemwill catch you if you gain a few pounds. It doesn't mean your journey is over...

Not all mexican food is burritos and tacos. Go for the healthier foods - grilled fish and meats with citrus flavors. Tons of calories in the refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, chips (fried), tortillas, etc. so you need to limit those. Grilled fish, shrimp, chicken, even some steak in limited quantities are fine. Breakfast - eggs with salsa, fresh fruit.

Margaritas are hard tons of sugar in them. Probably one of the worst drinks you can have...

THANK YOU! for these suggestions, all so helpful! I can skip the margarita. no problem with that. I was also thinking of taking theNutrisystembreakfast and lunch packets with me, maybe deserts too so I won't be famished at dinner time..

This is the hard one for me: >>>Try to avoid approaching it as "I'm on vacation, and I've already blown my diet. Might as well blow it big." ....EACH new meal is an opportunity to make a good choice (anonyval)<<<.

This is a state of mind, and I need to get my thinking right before I get on the plane. We do go to Mexico four or five times a year, and I suspect a lot of my excess lbs came from chips, quesadillas, tortillas, cheese and fried fish. :-)..

We just got back from two weeks in Puerto Vallarta. We always stay right in Old Town and it is so great to walk everywhere you go. I did indulge somewhat because the food is so wonderful there, but as others said, not your typical Mexican fare. I always had fish and veggies and felt completely satisfied. When I came home, only three lbs and they were gone after a week at home. Well worth it to enjoy but not over indulge or get into the mind set of have blown it, might as well go full boat. Have a wonderful time on your vacation!..

Jill, we went to PV for many years, Old Town too.....it's the only place to stay IMO...until we discovered Sayulita, about 25 miles or so north. Have you been there? It's lovely...
