Good Web Tutorials.
I just purchased a Canon Rebel XT with a stock 18-55mm lens. Are there any websites that you folks recommend for tutorials. I am pretty inexperienced with a SLR and am looking for some quick guides and how-tos..

Thanks!..

I'm not sure I would agree about Ken Rockwell. His opinions are not highly regarded. I would not direct anyone, much less a beginner to his site for advice. If you are fairly knowledgeable, you can see where his opinions have merit, but it can be very misleading for someone new who does not realize all the caveats that go along with it and are not mentioned...

I'm in the same boat. I bought a new DSLR (D40X) on the weekend and I've been crawling the web looking for tutorials and excercises to do but nothing has jumped out at me..

I think I'm going to do a course here in Australia with the Australian Centre of Photography. I'm sure there must be something similar in the states...

I highly recommend Thom hogans books. I have his D80 Guide. They come on a CD. He ships once a week on a Wednesday so if your order today (He is in the US) it will ship tomorrow..

Why are people so negative about Ken Rockwell? I am brand new to this and his site seemed to have a lot of information...

I've seen that other places as well. He seems very knowledgeable, and certainly has put a lot of effort into his site. Maybe he's just not a nice guy?.

Well, he writes "reviews" on items he has never shot..

He writes things like a $150 P&S takes better pictures than a 5D with a 16-35L lens, and uses a correctly exposed photo from the P&S and compares it to an overexposed photo from a 5D..

He writes that "Adobe RGB is irrelevant for real photography. sRGB gives better (more consistent) results and the same, or brighter, colors." While for most people sRGB is what they should use - especially if they don't understand ICC profiles, to say that Adobe RGB is irrelevant is just plain wrong..

He also writes nonsense about your camera not affecting the image quality. Basically, he was trying to say that good photographers can use bad equipment and still get great shots. Of course, his home page shows him with a monster lens, and he has a Canon 5D with various L lenses, and a Nikon D200 with various pro Nikon lenses. While a bad photographer with great equipment will still take bad photos, a good photographer with bad equipment will also take bad photos - which he fails to acknowledge..

He also says things like "image quality is the same in JPG and RAW." This obviously depends on how you process the RAW file..

Note, I shoot JPEG and sRGB, but that is because I don't like processing RAW files, and I print photos at labs (most labs only take sRGB). However, I still acknowledge that there are advantages to RAW and Adobe RGB. However, those advantages don't outweigh the drawbacks for me. Ken, on the other hand, says that Adobe RGB is irrelevant, and that there is no IQ advantage to RAW..

I could go on, but you get the idea. Basically, he makes simplistic declarations, that are just wrong...
