What good books have you read to help you with the emotional/mental side of staying on plan?.

I saw one person mention "The Beck Diet Solution" and I'm definitely going to check that one out!.

I'm currently reading "The Four Day Win" and am about 3/4 of the way through it. The author is a little annoying b/c she's always trying to be funny (cut the clown act, just give me the tips!!!), but other than that it's really good. I've been using several of the exercises given in the book and it really seems to be helping me stay focused. So, if you can get past the way it's written, it's a really good book!.

Would love to hear other suggestions! I've decided to read as many books as I can, b/c it's easier to snack when watching TV than it is while I'm reading!..

I'm obsessed with The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. Changed my life. I have a few on order with amazon as well, so when I get them I'll let you know if they are helpful at all...

Beck is a winner. Probably the last "diet book" you'll ever need...

After I did Medifast T&M for a few months, I got this book and have been doing it since early June. It's AMAZING. I'm also obsessed. It's not really about compulsive overeating, though, just eating clean and healthy. By doing so, I am very easily maintaining my loss. Never again will I go back to being obese.

I did the 5/1 plan 100% by the directions, no recipes or mixing stuff together. Then I did t&m by the book. So my food addiction and compulsion for sugar is GONE............

As long as we eat clean, we can stay healthy. I'm convinced of it..

I think Beck is a winner. Also, check out some of the Atkin's books, particularly the newest one, "New Atkins for a New You" for great ideas for maintenance. I especially like the clear explanation of how carbs act in our bodies - it's truly motivating to me!!..

Anything by Geneen Roth is great. "I Can Make You Thin" by Paul McKenna is interesting...I'm still working through it. It's NLP lots of visualization exercises. I think it's a great idea during 5/1 to study study study. Take advantage of the break from normal eating to get to the bottom of our issues with food...

I just got Dr. A's Habits of Health but I have not read it yet...

Here are some of my favorites:.

Dr. A's Habits of Health and the companion guide, Living a Longer, Healthier Life are absolutely the best. Not cheap, but worth every penny. He covers motivation, making choices, healthy eating, glycemic index, inflammation, antioxidants, vitamins, exercise, sleep, stress and longetivity! It's a BIG book but I learned SO MUCH. You can buy it from TSFL, Medifast or Amazon..

The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person by Dr. Judith Beck, the original book, not the workbook. Inexpensive. Check Amazon or

Linda Spangle has some good books, especially 100 Days of Weight Loss. Check out her website, too..

The Thin Commandments by Stephen Gullo. Another great strategy book, with lots of good healthy food suggestions for maintenance..

The End of Overeating explains why processed food is so addictive and teaches strategies to combat the food culture. But be forewarned...the descriptions of food are graphic!!!.

I haven't read any of Geneen Roth's books, (Women, Food and God, Breaking Free from Emotional Eating, etc.) but I'm not sure I would recommend them. She teaches people that if they eat what they want, when they want, they will learn to let go of guilt and make healthy choices. Hmmm......

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! Now to decide if this justifies getting myself a Kindle!! LOL!! I've been wanting one for a while!!!..

I agree with Linda.... Dr Andersen's Habits of Health book, workbook and DVD the total package! All you need to know to get healthy and keep it off for life...

Another Beck Diet fan. Bought a copy for me and my daughter ( - the only place for books)..

I also enjoyed Mindless Eating, and French Women Don't Get Fat. Volumetrics had good info, but can be a tedious read...

I would like to add Shrink Yourself to the mix, and also the website for free stuff that you can read and newsletter stuff, this is written by a psychiatrist with a keen insight in emotional overeating.

Don't forget the local library for books too, you can look at them before you decide to buy them, then check out ebay and Amazon for deals...
