Your question was: Godaddy.com help!!!!!?.
I agree with you..
BB is a redundant term..
Forum or community would sound better...
I think I read somewhere that pornbb.com sold at sedo. Anyway I got one BB and one BBS. No much luck with these BB..
Idon't think it's redundant at all as the biggest Free Forum (Bulletin Board) software is phpBB which contains the BB acronym.
I think though that it is unfamiliar for those who are unsure about this kind of terminolgy.
So it's a common usage for those who want to find software for this kind of this, but not for those who want to actually USE a forum bulletin board...
If that makes any sense..
Bbs is still a popular term in Asia, especially in Chinese and Japanese...
Since using the internet for a few years ive never used the term BB, only forum/s..
Exactly my feeling. I used to hang out on purely text-based "Bulletin Boards" in the early 90's and whenever I see the that term used I immediately think of the text-based forums of days past (oh what fun those were!). BB can certainly still be used, but I think the current generation would relate to the term "forum" much better.
//slap //punch //kick anyone with me? LOL..
In all honesty apart from this thread I have not heard those initials in a long time. Therefore I agree with the others that it is somewhat redundant.
By all means phpBB (and a few other forum systems) have the acronym in their name but most of them have been going for a long time and people associate them with what they are because of that and not because of BB being in the name...
How far does BBS go back with you? it goes back a very long time for me as well.
I use to run a 4-node ringdown BBS out of Toronto back in the 90's. Hehe, I was so impressed when all 4 nodes were in use. Ran PCBoard (by Clark Development Company) (wonder what they are doing today) and even developed my own "PPE's" for that board. I was in heaven back then until I picked up PHP for the web. I can't get enough of it.
As for BB, I would strongly vote that it stands for Bulletin Board (IMO). In fact I just picked up DevelopBB.com last month..
BB has been gone ages ago, now it's forum. Haven't heard BB in a very, very long time..
BB is used for bulletin board. Now they call them "forums" was not the case some years ago. I would say the terms BB are not worth much as they were in the past. So I prefer the term Forum or Forums over BB...
It's funny, because the actual word is 'Fora' as far as I'm aware..
Fora is the plural of forum. However I have only ever heard anyone says forums and not fora...
Ahh... Those were the days. I had a similar setup to yourself also using PCBoard. It only finally got deleted from my hard disk when I recently moved over to the linux platform ...
Whenever I hear BB I always think of bodybuilding.com..
