I was contacted by the GoDaddy Domain Buy Service (got an e-mail from domainbuy[a] about 2 weeks ago. Someone was interested in buying my domain name (registered with Godaddy), so I negotiated the price and ended at $275.

I then received an e-mail with instructions on how to transfer (push) the domain to the buyers account. Also, it was saying that the buyer has already paid to Godaddy. So I transferred the domain a few days ago, but I still haven't received my payment to my Paypal.

I e-mailed the buyer 2 days ago (I have his e-mail from his GD account details) and I also e-mailed domainbuy[a] yesterday, but got no reply yet.

I'm afraid it was a fraud to steal my domain name. However, all the e-mails were from domainbuy[a] with original GD logo, so I think it couldn't have been a fraud.

Anyone has an experience with this? Maybe it just takes Godaddy too long to arrange things...

Not saying it was or wasn't fraud but.... whenever I email back and forth with domainbuy@godaddy it takes a few days to get a response.....

Thanks guys. Yeah, it always takes them a few days to reply. I wil wait a few more days and then I'll call them if I get no reply...

Godaddy's buy domain service is awful. I think the 2 people that probably work in that department are always at the beach. I've also had a terrible experience with them. Good luck with your issue...

If this is like TDNAM it takes 30 days to get your money, it's because it's not real escrow so they just hold it until the chargeback period is expired...

I'm not saying that it was fraud, I have no familiarity with the service, but the fact that it came from with the original GD logo doesn't mean anything. Anyone can send an email from any address and put any logo in it with very little technical expertise.

Good luck to you with getting your money...

Quite honestly, Their domain buy sucks.

I was contacted by them once, and I noticed that the .net, .org, and of the domain in question had all been recently taken by the same guy.

I called him up, and we negotiated over the phone..

It was much more convenient to do that than to wait 5 day in between emails.

Good luck none the less!.

Yes. Be very careful with email. Anyone can send you an email from as well.

Anyone can also call you from any phone number. People can call you from 123-4567, or godaddy's phone number, and even bank phone numbers on caller id so watch out... Alot of people get scammed this way as well.

My policy is always to get their number from them, google it, make sure it's listed on their website or a legit number from the company, then you call them back. Then you know you are probably talking with the correct people...

Well I think it was not a fraud, as they asked me to register on TDNAM to be able to sell the domain. The case now is probably that it takes them 30 days to release the payment, like Timewarp says...

An expose is due to be published on May 30th, which seems to hint at GoDaddy. (See
