I think you want to register a TMed domain in hopes of profiting from it in some way, that's what I think......
Dangerous. I saw a youtube.ie pop up today with Google's contact details.
Oh what makes you say that? Maybe he wants a site about baking cakes inside tubes. hehe..
Guys, I don't find this type of accusations funny..
All the same I wont start explaining the situation here.
I'd be pleased if you just answer the (difficult) question.
Will there be a name change?.
Anyone heard something to enforce this presumption?.
If so, what counts?.
The older domain or the newer brand?.
I don't know, but the people who own utube.com are missing out on a huge revenue opportunity. They lucked into a goldmine and now the site is just coming up Service Unavailable... utube.com has an ovt of 36k+.
I dont see a name change as being likely, but what do I know. Just seems that if you have something that extremely popular, changing the name can only do more harm than good...
Ok, I didn't think I was being funny, I believe I am dead on with my statement (But Labrocca does make apoint... usage, usage, usage). The humor is in the fact you are asking about a TM, clearly knowing it is a TM. And the only reason to register a TM is to somehow make money from other people work. You don't like the asumption we have, then do not open yourself for people to assume that (ID- don't register TMed domains). You used symbols to break up the name you are asking about knowing full well that you are infringing.
Now, you asked what we thought, we told you what we thought. We all see why it would be registered. Plus if you did any research on this site (IE- type "tm" and "trademark" into the search box) and read for a while, we have covered just about every senario of TMs, including what you are asking about.
Is it confusingly similar? heck yeah. Does it seem registered in bad faith? heck yea. Is this a difficult question you think it is? not in the least.
We we were being kind before, but your otinigal post was very vague and gave no real direction. So I answered in that basis...
Spoken like vintage DNQuest style.
I actually had the same thoughts. I see no other reason why to register the.
Domain name other than get a free ride on someone's brand.
Weigh your risk...
Thanks, I would also see it that way. I have other plans with my domain, and will be putting up a site in the next few days. I'll report when it is done. I guess they don't need that kind of revenue any longer..
Some time ago they rejected a youtube offer of $ 1,000,000.
A new multiplicator may have convinced them now..
Just my guess, lets wait the usual 5 Days and see...
Utube.com is owned by Universal Tube and Rollform Corp since 1996, they have an active site (maybe you saw it when the server was down). The company has been around since 1985 and it is pretty big, so 1 mill doesn't seem like alot to them...
That's why I think the 1 mill got some more digits added...
