I have been on the plan for about two weeks. I am really enjoying the breakfassts and the dinners for the most part. I am really struggling with the lunches. I wondered if anyone would tell me there favorites. If you have a favorite would you tell me how to "doctor" it up. Thanks!!!..

Your question was: Favorite Nutrisystem Lunch Items?.

Cheesy mashed potatoes are my absolute fav, but also fudge graham bars and the Pasta Parmesan with broccoli are my staples....

The cheesy mashed potatoes are pretty versatile...search the boards for recipes. My favorite way to make them is to add a tbsp of Real bacon bits, and occasionally add a chopped up a Boca Burger...

My fav lunches are the cheesy potatoes (the new recipe without that horrible fish oil that Nutrisystem finally and thankfully discontinued), the fettuccine alfredo is wonderful (I make tuna noodle casserole with it, just add a bit of tuna, black pepper, top with a very small amt. of bread crumbs, I only use a TEAspoon of crumbs which is under 20 calories and a tiny bit of ff cheese, rehydrate as directed, then pop into the toaster oven to melt the cheese and voila! If tuna is not a favorite, it also makes a great chicken/broccoli casserole), the black beans and rice (see the recipe board for the dressed up version, it's great) and all the lunch bars (except the raspberry one which is a little bit too artificial tasting IMHO).

The lunch cups used to be a bit of a challenge to rehydrate, but what works for me is to dump them with the recommended amount of water into a microwave safe bowl and nuke for about 2 minutes, stirring after each minute, keep an eye on them so they don't overcook and then let them sit for about a minute and stir again before eating...

I have a hard time with lunch too. I have found my favorite lunches to be ones that look very different from where they started.

I enjoy the potatoes but turn them into potato pancakes (search the boards for the recipe).

I also really like minestrone turned into a french onion soup (again...search the boards....advanced search...for titles only...search minestrone).

I find if there is something I am dreading eating I search for it and someone has found a way to make it really good. I suggest you try it with your next lunch you'll be amazed at what you find...

I really like the tuna salad, I chill both the tuna and chicken salads in the fridge for several hours before eating. I don't get the extra carbs my hubby does so I enjoy having my tuna sandwich on a bun, but it would be great on a salad as well..

I find both the minestrone and the Mexican Tortilla Soup quite good, I added shredded parmesan to the minestrone and ate the tortilla soup as is...

I too like the cheesy homestyle potatoes - and make them into either potato-cakes OR the potato salad (both recipes can be found on the boards).

I really like both the tuna and chicken salads - (storing them in the fridge so they are chilled makes a big difference) - add in chopped celery, onion, pickle or capers - along with tuna/chicken as my protein serving - on a sandwich thin..

Also - I really like the Red Beans & Rice with Sausage! Don't have to do much with it - it's pretty good as is. I usually prepare as directed and add to some pan sauted chopped onions or peppers...

I also love the black bean soup. I've used it with egg beaters to make a omlet. I've also used my Nutrisystem Nacho chips for dessert and made nacho's. That's a bigger meal and then my dessert is gone for the day, but on a day I'm working out a lot I have no problem doing that. Sometimes I'll split it into two servings and with the Nacho Chips and have it twice during the day. Works well on a Saturday like today where I'm going in and out to do yard work. Mini meals all day long works best for me on days like today!..

Lunch is my favorite. the double chocolate caramel bars are to die for. I get them for every day!..

Chocolate peanut butter bars are the best bars that Nutrisystem makes (in my humble opinion.)..

I LOVE the Chocolate Peanut Butter bars and the Double Chocolate Caramel bars with a HUGE salad (feta, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, radishes, craisins, romaine, 2 TBSP. low fat dressing mixed with red wine vinegar) for lunch. I was having a real problem "liking" the cups. I've found that this new combo works for me.

I know you didn't ask about dinners, but I keep changing my mind about them. Right now it's the lasagna with meat sauce which is my staple for dinner...

One thing I do with all of the dehydrated lunch cups is to cook according to directions then cover tightly for 20 minutes and then nuke for about 1 more minute or until the thickness I like.

I like the following:.

Black beans and rice.

Black bean soup.

Beans and ham - I add southwest mustard to this one.

Fettuccine Alfredo.

Several of the lunch bars.

I really do not doctor any of these up and like them all quite well..

I am not much of a salad eater so I dice up cucumbers and tomato put the 2 tbs of ff Italian dressing over first thing in the morning and then eat at lunch - the veggies soak up the dressing and tastes really good...

My favorite lunches are the Tuna Salad, Cheesy Mashed Potatoes, & the 3-Cheese Pasta w/Chicken. When I have the pasta, I stir in a Tbls of FF cream cheese after the boiling water. After it sits for about 10 minutes, I stir it really well and the sauce is much creamier & it gives it a richer flavor. I have it a couple times a week...

The tuna salad on a sandwich thin, along with a big salad with all kinds of veggies, is my favorite lunch. When I have that, I allow myself a few pickle chips, sodium be damned. I also like the Mexican tortilla soup. Sometimes I get a craving for chili and switch the chili to lunch. It is in a small container, but it is very good and has a kick to it...
