I'm going to be starting month 4 next week. I've been on 60 mg for the last 2 months and 40 mg on the 1st month. My eyes have been dry and red since after I started the medication. I knew one of the side effects from the med is dry eyes w/ contacts so I started wearing my glasses for the past week now and they are still red and dry. I've been using Clear Eyes drops for over a month and it stop working afte a while. My optometrist recommended Systane eye drop and he told me to use them for 2 weeks to see how they do.

I do sit in front of a computer at work for 8 hours and I do use it at home as well, so that could be it too...

Your question was: Dry red eyes with Murad Acne Complex?.

Yeah I took 40mg for 5 months and I just got off a month ago. My eyes were red and dry all the time lol. teachers and kids at my school thought I waked and baked lol. but just get some moisturizing eye drops but NOT visine because my doctors says it will ruin your eyes.[..

Ditto. Drinking a lot of water helped, but they still got dry and red easily. I resorted to telling folks I was on drugs. Well, it was true!..

I am on 60 mg a day for a little over 4 months and I have VERY dry eyes. They burn constantly! I use genteal gel drops and it works great!..

The gel is good for daytime; an ointment lubricant like Lacrilube is great for nighttime. The doc can also decide if you'd benefit from something like Restasis which actually encourages more tear production. It works.I would drink carbonated beverages very fast to induce eye-watering when I'd forgotten my eye drops. It was a temporary fix but did help for a moment.Drink LOTS and LOTS of fluids. It will help...

Thanks everyone for the response. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I do drink lots of water. My eyes bug a lot you know. It sucks because it's been a while since my eyes looked normal. I'll use the eye drops for now and lets see what my derm tells me next week.

Well at least I'm 2 months away from finishing Murad Acne Complex. Can't wait...

PS: Restasis is prescription only. It's good to stay away from things like Visine that advertise "gets the redness out" as those are medicated and your eyes need simple tears.Refresh eye drops or gel, the Lacrilube at night, etc. Lacrilube I had to use the lacrilube at night as one eyelid did not close completely (actually stayed completely open) for three whole months as a sequelae of Bell's Palsy. Wore an eye patch at night or taped it shut to protect the eye itself as there was obviously no blink reflex. Lacrilube is extremely thick and is best for severe dry eyes. I wore it during the day as well since the eyelid did not blink at all.

I blink again, and it closes completely at night thank god...

Hi there -Yep, everything dries out on Murad Acne Complex - even "down" there. While your Dr. said to use Systane for a few weeks, my Derm. said to use it the whole treatment. Also, if you wear contacts use re-wetting drops in your eyes during the day. If you don't keep things lubed - eyes, face/lips/nose, body, hair, "down" there you will run into problems. Good luck.Yvette..

Like Wynne mentioned, my derm also told me to you "refreshing" eye drops, not the "red out" kind. I've not researched the difference, but wanted to throw that in there...
