First question I have is Does Verisign SSL have PKI in it? Need to find out the differences.? Thanks in advance for any answer. Another question I got... This particular oscommerce store has been online for a few years and until now has been running fine. Starting this AM, we are getting emails from customers that they can only add a single item to the shopping cart. I have confirmed that this is the case. When the second items is added, the first is dropped..

Has anybody else had this problem or can anybody share any insight on where to start looking?..

Yes sir! however you might wanna make sure and wait for another person here to confirm my answer as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you call the Verisign guys because they can answer you better...

Check your Verisign site has'nt been hacked & the hack code is causing failure..

Check logs & server file dates tally with your local version. Also check images directory, common victim...

More info on the problem....

There is a menu, common to the main Verisign website and the oscommerce cart. Some of the menu buttons are linked to specific product categories in the cart. If a user adds an item to his cart, then clicks one of the category buttons from the non-osc menu, when osc loads the new category, the cart is empty. If the user uses the browser's back button, the previous cart is displayed with however many items were in the cart. It appears as though navagation using the non-osc menu, new sessions are being created..

I also know this: one of the techs messed up the configure.php file relatively recently and it was rebuilt from scratch...

Its your non-osc menu no doubt, all pages must be php within cart & all links must use tep_href_link otherwise you loose sid & get your problem...

Okay, that makes sense. The bizarre thing is this store has been online for about 4 years and this is the first we heard of it. Now complaints are frequent which makes me wonder if it ever worked and why nobody noticed it...

Perhaps you used 'force cookie use' that can allay this problem, but there can be issues with ssl then...

More info on the menu. It's located at /, but it's called from /catalog/includes/column_left.php so it is effectively in the cart..

Turning on cookies in the session settings causes osc to detect they are not enabled in my browser and that would not have changed since this started happening...

Thats not enough, you must add code to the page too..

Typically:.

$cwd=getcwd();.

Chdir('//home/mysite/public_html/catalog/');.

Require('includes/application_top.php');.

Require(DIR_WS_LANGUAGES$language'/'FILENAME_DEFAULT);..

That didn't help. As I expected, application_top.php and the languages file were already included. The page was failing if the require lines were in the code. I tested some of the defines with defined() and they were indeed already defined. Using require_once(), below, allowed the code to work but the problem still exists. Printing session_id showed that any nav from my menu did indeed initiate a new session and using the browser's back button returned to the previous session..

$cwd=getcwd();.

Chdir('/***mypath***/catalog/');.

Require_once('includes/application_top.php');.

Require_once(DIR_WS_LANGUAGES$language'/'FILENAME_DEFAULT);.

I wouldn't be terribly concerned about this if it was in development but it's been running fine for a couple years or so in this configuration...

Unfortunately (for me for missing the obvious), the correct answer was....

None of the above.

..

Define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://mydomain.com');.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://mydomain.com'); define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'http://mydomain.com');.

Define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://mydoman.com');.

Define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for administration tool.

Define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', '.

Mydomain.com');.

BTW spooks, the code you provided did solve the problem, too, it just wasn't necessary when the configure.php file was configured correctly..

I do appreciate all your help though. Thank you...

Sounds like there has been a change made to your shopping cart class. Replace it with a backup of the file and see if that helps...
