Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at Verisign as they probably could answer your Verisign question..
You can keep RC1 and apply the upgrade suggestions in the RC2a package (extras folder if I remember correctly)..
Thanks for the swift reply.
I had a look at doing that but it was a bit too complicated and involved changing too many files.
Is there any easy or simple way to upgrade the necessary files without destroying the templte thats already installed?..
I can't remember the files that are changed and whether they would affect a template .. but .. you'll have to get used to it as at some stage you will have to perform some form of upgrade, the further you get behind the worse it will be...
I tried to install version rc2a on top of my template but it didnt work.
Then I tried to install only the image files etc but that resulted in the images being all over the place.
I dont mind staying with an older version like rc1 if it's still considered safe to do so..
I would not use rc1 for a live shop given that there are a lot of changes made in rc2a as compared to rc1, and some changes are important. even you are willing to take the time & trouble to do the manual upgrade, whether it is possible or praticable would depend on the template you are using (one the reasons I dont use a template)..
I am using a template pack that includes oscommerce rc1.
I have invested many hours getting the store the way I want it.
Is it still safe to use the rc1 version or do I have to upgrade ?
