It all started last week when good friends invited us for a dinner treat..b/c the husband got a new job..

I shouldnt have even gone!.....there was No salad or fruits available and I didnt want them to know I'm on NS....and I knew al lthis..but thought hey...not a big deal...next morning I can go back to NS; b/c we hadnt seen those friends in a long time...sh brought her mother unbeknownst to us...so we couldnt even hang out anyway...

Next morning started a downward spiral...my body had so much carbs that it was craving more than the Nutrisystem breakfst.....and so I cheated...

And it's been going on since....

I am eating Nutrisystem food...but eat off plan whenever...I was doing so well the first week!! .

This always happens to me!....I don't know why I'm so weak...feel like a loser now....I want this more than anything....

I didnt tell anyone...my husband would be so disappointed....i feel disappointed in me.

There is one line in your above "confession" that isn't true, eagle:.

"I want this more than anything...".

Nope, I don't buy that. If you really wanted it more than anything, nothing, not even YOU, would stand in your way..

Honestly..

A set back does not mean that you have failed. It has taken you your entire life to get to this point. Changing your eating habits and your health is a lifelong commitment. What is important is what you do now! Do you give up, or do you shake it out and keep trying?.

Yeah...everything you both said is true! ...Pam, I shouldnt have ven gone, if it was not Nutrisystem friendly...and no excuse for contining to cheat and feel sorry for myself! ..

Kursplat...I've been successful and gone over roadblocks before and I can do it again!1...I Will shake it off and keep trying...!..I'm supposed to be an eagle, after all .

Sometimes the truth hurts...but only then, can you be truly healed.

If you want to go out to somewhere that's not Nutrisystem friendly, something I've found helps is to eat before you go.

I ate my lunch this recently before some friends drove through McDonalds (with me in the car) and I was so full I wasn't even interested in their food, let alone ordering my own!.

Yeah, I didnt even do that...wasnt thinking..I've always been like do it perfectly or do'nt do it...and I think that thinking has gotten me where I am today, w/my obesity!! .

Guess I have to look at the grey areas now...and just be postive....

Think about this:.

If you dented the bumper on your car, would you think, "Well, this car is ruined, might as well run it into that brick wall over there and total it now!".

Or:.

If you broke your ring finger, would you think, "This hand is no good now, so I might as well take a hammer and crush all the rest of the fingers on this hand and be done with it!".

I don't think you would, now, would you? Same with eating. You eat something that isn't on plan, that's it, no more. Eat on plan the next bite, the next meal, the next day..

Easy, huh?.

That helps me to see myself in a better light...and not to get so bent out of shape for just being human...and not perfect!.

Oh, eagle. I was afraid something like that happened when I stopped seeing your posts. I noticed because we started about the same time (although I see your join date is Mar 08?) .

It is hard. My toughest day was when I went downstairs at work and the whole place smelled like the brown sugar cinnamon poptarts my friend just toasted. Even the day with the birthday cake wasn't as bad as that. I have a real weakness for poptarts! But I hung in there, mostly because I was so stuffed from the Nutrisystem food there was no way I could manage to eat anything else..

It can be difficult, but just because you slipped up, don't beat yourself up, just move on and really commit to sticking with it. I was getting discouraged because it didn't seem like I was losing anything, but I was missing out on a few things because I was staying away from tempting situations. Used to starve myself and see better results, but then I'd eat and put it back on and then some. Years of this got me where I am now and I really want to change my whole way of eating and living. I've stuck it out so far and although tomorrow is my official week 2 weigh-in, I've lost 6 lbs. Not a ton, but a good start, I think.

You can do this. I failed at every diet in the past, but this one isn't too bad to stick with as long as you really make up your mind and don't let anything stand in the way. Look, be tempted, sometimes you can't help that, but just don't do it and you'll feel really good about it later.

Glad to see you are back and haven't thrown in the towel..

Sounds like you really do want it, just failed to commit fully at first, but maybe now you are ready?.

Good luck..

Btw, I let everyone know I'm on Nutrisystem and the support has been great. It actually helps when people know because they try not to put temptations in your face like when they knew you would go for it. I've also noticed a lot of my friends at work starting to be more careful about what they eat too. Maybe I'll see some of them join me soon when they see it is working!.

The first week we were on NS, my husband and I were invited over (with our little one) to a good friend's birthday dinner (it was just us and them). I asked her in advance what she was going to make, and she said "I don't know, maybe I'll just do frozen pizza!" (as a joke) .

I responded it was a GREAT idea, and I would just bring our pizzas too! She made a fruit salad, and I brought the veggies. I asked her if she could make a salad (and we bought our own dressing).

She was very supportive, and we had a great time "doctoring up" the pizzas! Don't be stressed about telling your friends, they'll be happy for you ... if they are real friends. If they aren't, then just tell them you can't make it then..

It feels great to get so much support!! ....yeah.. I always beat myself up over stuff...

Sue- I was on Nutrisystem before a couple of years ago...so the date is from that...lol.

I knoe yo yo diets never work...and I havent lost much that first week...i also feel stuffed from NS.......i will have to get back on track now.....

Eagle I am the queen of beating myself up but it DOES NO GOOD. Pick yourself up tell yourself you are soooo worth this and get back on track!!!.

It does help to eat first, I also drink a huge bottle of seltzer before I go-even drink it in the car on the way..

Don't worry about not telling people - that seemed to set me back further. Telling them that you are on the plan just seems to commit yourself to staying on the right path. There IS temptation so accept it and deal with it the best that you can but try not to depress yourself over veering to the side every once in a while. I know there are some that say it is never acceptable but good grief - I just refuse to come down on myself or others that hard!.

I agree with planning ahead and either eating first or knowing you have your meal set up at home for after the event (if the time-frame allows)..

Good luck and just breathe.....

Thanks guys! ....I am beginning to see that you're not a bad person, if you mess up...and really....it's the mess-ups that let us grow... and to climb up the ladder of success you have to hit the bumps, ...lol.otherwise there's nothing to step on!.
