I have a cannon digital camera and had tons of pics of my son.

I noticed that some had a question mark in there place and were missing when I viewed them .so stupid me not knowing anything changed the format on the camera! and wiped out everything...any way of retrieving these photos from the card ? or are they totally erased ????..

I assume you mean that when you reformatted the card you lost the pictures. I don't understand why there was a question mark. It sounds like something was not set right in your camera or the card was bad..

If you did not take any more pictures after reformatting you may be able to recover them. Someone else will have to tell you how..

Recovery programs (you will need to use a card reader).

I've personally used the PC Inspector Smart Recovery - it works *very* well, you should recover a good 90% of the photos. It's SLOW, but it works, and it's free ..

Image recovery programmes work well but are by nature slow. To give them the greatest chance to recover your photos DO NOT use that card again until you have attempted to recover them..

Also, given that there was a question mark when you tried to view your photos and that this is not normal, bear in mind there is a possibility that the photos had "disappeared" or been corrupted PRIOR to your reformatting the card and that image recovery may not work..

Good luck!..
