Your question was: Black Bean Tortilla Soup and Nutrisystem.
I have had this a lot of different ways. Saute onions, bell pepper and celery add cumin and cayenne and mix with the prepared meal..
I have done eggplant and okra sauteed with red pepper flakes..
Zuchini and onion with pepper flakes or cayenne..
If you have a protein you can add a 97% FF Hebrew National hot dog or two..
Today I just poured the prepared meal over spaghetti squash..
I like them all...
I like mine extra soupy, just an FYI..
The night before I dump the contents into a LARGE bowl and add at least a cup of hot broth, mix, cover and when it cools place in fridge. The next day at lunch I add an entire can of rotelle mild including the liquid (beware canned anything if you are sodium sensitive.) Voila, lunch + both servings of veg. If I feel like having something a little more creamy I also toss in a wedge of LC and count it torwards my lunch protein...
Wow Monica! That sounds delicious! Can't wait to try it! Thanks!.
You are not alone! This is actually one of the very few items that I just can't happily eat - and I liked it better "soupier" too..
Use it as a marinade and sauce. I add the boiling water, mix and then dump over tofu, but if you're a meat eater toss it over your dead animal of choice. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Dump it - liquid and protein- into a pan and cook until done. When cooled, toss over salad or veggies...
Thank you for all the suggestions, there's a couple things that sound good so I'll be sure to give one of them a try!..
I remove a little of the powdery stuff. then it becomes a little more edible. I like to add this chili olive oil concoction from taverndirect.com and THAT makes it delicious. just a little for taste goes a long way..
A very simple fix that also works great is just to stir in some good salsa and a dollop of fat free sour cream, the soup is just too bland without adding something to it and I find once some spice is added it is really good...
I LOVE this one. I as well, let it sit for a short while after it is done. I then stir it and add a spoon of spicy salsa to the top. YUM..
I had this one today, my 2nd day on the Nutrisystem plan. I LOVE EVERYTHING I have had so far EVEN the maple/brown sugar oatmeal and I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT LIKE OATMEAL. The last time that stuff touched my lips was 36 years ago. :-) The black bean tortilla soup I couldn't find the fill to line, so what I thought was a line I added water too but it cooked so fast. 1 min exact in the microwave at work so it bubbled over.. uggghh.
But it was so YUMMY alone.. I guess I will start steaming some vegetables to add to some things. the meals alone are just enough for me but I am wondering when I ramp up with my new personal trainer on Monday I will need the extra Veggies with the entrees...
