So a friend stopped by and got along these cream puff's from a chain called Beard Papa's. Each oozes about 230 calories about 30 calories more than a Krispy Kreme glazed donut. But unlike donuts, the cream puffs are baked, not fried. The filling is a whipped-cream-and-custard combo. So the question, since most of the desert type foods run ~ 150 cal; would it mess up my program too much if I had half of this for my desert, instead of the Nutrisystem desert choice for tonight?..

Your question was: Beard Papa's cream puffs ok on Nutrisystem?.

Thanks for the advise, I guess, I'll stay away from it, especially so early in the program. I am sure that with time I'll develop a better sense of how/what I can sub once in a while...

Stealing this from another thread....

Your replacement food needs to fall into those ranges..

Typically most easy replacements are lacking Protein...

I agree with this post. You should stay away from non Nutrisystem foods for quite a while, until you see some significant weight loss on NS. The program works best staying on it 100%...

Weight loss isn't an exact science and it's okay to indulge a little every once in a while I say go for it..

Hoping you stuck with this choice, more than likely the 1/2 that you could eat calorie wise is just not really going to do it for you and then you would want more. I am trying really hard to stick 100% to the program that Nutrisystem took years to develop - Good Luck..

True enough, but not right at the outset. I say commit to Nutrisystem 100% for best results. Not to mention you just spend a lot of $$$ on it make the most out of the program. There will always be temptations around..

Willbslim, good thinking!..

There'd be no way I (ould limit myself to 1/2 of one of those things, even if they did meet the Nutrisystem protein requirement for a dessert. I'd just have to say a firm "No, thanks!" & walk away from them!..

You've got to know your own "triggers" as it were. Love the Holey Donuts and their cinnamon bun middles, BUT I love them WAY TOO MUCH Can't order 'em anymore. Just have to avoid those. If you'd be ok with half of one of these treats, I'd say no problem once you have the basics of the plan down (NSEater's right about that - give yourself a chance to figure out the plan and the portions etc, before you experiment too much). I know I'd never be happy with half though..

I agree with those who said to wait. Many will encourage no cheat days regardless, but you know eventually it happens for some. When it does, don't give up & quit the plan all together. I didn't have a "cheat" day until half way through my 3rd month. By that time I had seen significant weight loss. Others noticed too.

There's a stuffed oatcake recipe using cream cheese filling in the recipe forum. I guess that's as close as you're gonna get to a cream puff. I killed my lemon dessert craving by using the lemon cookie recipe. They were good and counted as a Nutrisystem breakfast item...
