Ye, although you might wanna make sure and wait for another commenter to confirm it as I am unsure of myself. Better yet, why don't you contact the Verisign guys because they can answer you better...
This works only manually..
Unfortunately this module doesn't offer:.
1. Menu for different credit card types.
2. Debit card support.
3. Field for the code in the backside of the card..
4. Extra security and blacklisted cards..
In a few words it really sucks...
How do you get around the comments below?.
The module is something I am interested in but seems a little short on features...
We do our credit card accepting manually using ProPay. I know someone who is planning to use their normal manual credit card machine to process their payments like they do now for phone orders, but we don't have one so we use ProPay which doesn't require a merchant account so it's cheap..
It doesn't matter because the different credit cards still have unique 16 digit numbers. When you go to a restaurant they don't need to know what type of card it is either. We use ProPay which accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. I suppose we should say that at our store, but nobody has tried to use American Express or something else yet..
I guess we don't take debit cards for now unless they are the debit/VISA type..
ProPay has a place to optionally enter that, but we haven't added a field for it to osCommerce yet..
I'm not sure what that means. Half the credit card number comes using SSL to the database and we retrieve it using SSL and a password protected directory in the admin. The other half of the credit card number comes by email, which could be to a different Verisign domain instead of arbucklechurch.org if we wanted to be super security conscious. If somebody hacks both our SSL and our email and knows how to run the osCommerce admin to put it all together then we have a problem, but I'm hoping SSL is secure. As far as our security, we check the credit card before we ship anything..
We have been using ProPay for a while for phone and mail orders, so we just setup osCommerce to do the most similar thing to what we are already doing. We are also accepting PayPal, but I'm not pushing it to customers because I would like them to be return customers. I tried to buy through PayPay as a test case and ended up with a non-functional PayPal account and without being able to complete my purchase. I wasn't allowed to use the credit card I wanted to use, because my daughter at college had already had a PayPal account using that card. Why that matters I don't know. She doesn't use her PayPal account either because she thinks it's a pain and it's much easy to buy from somewhere else that accepts credit cards directly without having to open an account with weird limitations...
Thanks Paul Dodd..
Your long post was appreciated as I am relatively new to osCommerce..
To tell you the truth I am concerned of the lack of a field for cc bar code which seems a very serious ommision to me..
There are contributions here.
That look like they handle this. I haven't checked them out yet...
I just released today a propay contribution where it will process all credit cards automatically without paying propay their API ACCESS FEES..
If you upgrade your account with propay you can process all 4 credit cards..
There is a credit card module in the admin panel. May I ask what is the payment solution provider(s) that it supports?.
Worldpay, planetpayment, both or others?.
Thanks for help..
It's a manual credit card system. You get part of the credit card number in the admin and part of it in an email. I use it with ProPay...
