My first question is Anyone have statistics on Nutrisystem diet? Thanks in advance for any response. Another question I got... So I don't know if it's been discussed before, couldn't find a thread about it but, I have done p90x once before made it to day 75 and was feeling great didnt really lose weight but was way more active and just all around better feelin', I feel the reason for not losing that much weight to make me happy was the fact that I didnt follow a eating plan as much as I probably should have. to get to the point though, just wondering if anyone has done p90x with nutrisystem and what you felt about it? results? I just started p90x again this last monday 1/25/10 and have nutrisystem on the way! I am 20 5'9 166lbs. I dont consider myself over weight but theres a couple pounds id like to shed off and tighten up, just got a tad bit of fat on me that needs to go! always struggle with these "last 10 to 20 pounds" to just come off! (always been pretty athletic just not as active) ready to see a 6 pack! haha and nutrisystem looks like my way to it! would very much appreciate your thoughts and advice!..

If you want to get lean and cut like on the P90X system, Nutrisystem may not be right for you. Nutrisystem will have you on about 1400 calories/day with about 60 grams of protein per day..

If you really want to get lean and build muscle, you'll definitely need to add additional protein in order to fuel your work out..

NS is a great base, but you should read the nutrition plan that they have set out and be aware that you may have to add a lot of food besides the "bulk" that we add here..

Also, look into their supplements and recovery formulas. It's going to be a lot like Myoplex ..

I'm doing the Insanity program, also by Beach Body. There's much less muscle being built because I'm not lifting daily like on P90X so I can get away with what's here... maybe just add another 10-20 grams of protein depending on how I'm feeling that day..

Hope this gives you some things to think about...

Actually with P90X you don't lift every day. They sprinkle in Cardio, Yoga and Stretching between lifting days and the dietary guide they have setup for P90X calls for "trimming fat a 1,200 to 1,500 diet is recommended" where as if you're looking to add muscle they recommend a 2000 calorie diet. The base Nutrisystem plan is perfect for P90X, adding in a protein / recovery drink if you want to add more bulk...

Gotta start from the ground up! I did it last year and was doing 25 pulls ups easy now that it's been a while without any exercise 8 is like my max! but you defiantly make progress, it is a great program! just waiting on my Nutrisystem I have been cutting back on my calories before hand...

You could start with the Power90 if you're not quite at the fitness level required for P90X. If you can't pass the initial fitness test, you will probably get better results from the introductory program..

I am not familiar with the linking rules on the discussion boards, but if you Google "P90x fit test" there is a fitness test you can take to determine your readiness...

I invested in p90x yesterday. Once I get it I will see what it's all about. my buddy lost about 60 pounds in the 3 months on it and he is now on the insanity program...

No problem at all. It should be here in the mail by Thursday and I plan on starting it as soon as I get it. I will give periodical updates. And that whole Eli/Philip thing blah. I somewhat think the chargers got the better end of the deal on that one. I like Eli but I'm just tired of that deer in the headlight look he always has...

So my p90x came in the mail today. Im wondering if anybody is on or has been on this or insanity or their own rigid workout regimen do you use protein shakes such as myoplex or anything to fuel your workouts and does it affect your weight loss?..

I had a friend of mine do it. It is a true bulk builder. If you continue to do it, I would definitely supplement. When I get to 205 I plan on trying it also...

I am going to start p90x. a friendd bought it and ripped the dvd's to itunes so I can watch on the computer or plug it into the tv....

I need to read up on it a bit, then get going. we are going to start the next few days. I easily passed the fitness test...i just need to decide on the protein supplement..

It's good because now I have someone to motiviate me (and me to motivate him) on doing this daily and eating right!.

Anyone else want to join? ATC did you start?..

So just an update. I dislocated my shoulder so I had to stop doing p90x for a bit but I started up again and it's a crazy workout every day. I have lost 6 pounds in about 4 days since I have started it back. It may sound crazy but I can see results already. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a challenge during workouts...

I was reading the team beachbody forums. some peopel combine insanity an p90x - like why do yoga, really? you can put in some different aerobic w/o instead.....

I bought P90x a couple of years ago. Only did it for a few weeks. It was good, but tough. I've been stalled closed to goal the last few weeks. Too much cheating. Am going to start the P90x today to get me back on track. I'll try and post some before pictures...

I'm curious... how "fit" do you need to be to even consider starting this? I don't expect that I could even attempt to do anything like this yet, but I'm curious and interested in doing something like this as I get down further along. Any comments or opinions?..

There is a "fit test" that they ask you to take before starting. You can access it at the P90X site, or google P90X fit test and you will have a look before buying...

Mfrazzz - it helps to be somewhat fit, but you can go at your own pace. If you can't do pull-ups, there are some bands in the box you can use...

Got down to 177.2 last week, goal is 170. Really chowed down the last few days. Up to 188.8 this morning. Recommitting now to NS, and first day doing P90X. Took some photos this morning to see the P90X progression...

My buddy did p90X and it really worked for him. He was trying to get me into it but I was powerlifting at the time (translation: strong, slow fat guy at the gym)..

I'm thinking about giving it a shot once I plateau on my current routine but I REALLY like going to the gym. You have to do it at home right?.

I could freeze my membership I guess and give it a try...

Well you dont really have to do it at home, but since it's a lot of routines using dumb bells, and your own body weight (alot of push ups and pull ups) you don't really need an entire gym for it. Might look a little strange doing push ups at the squat rack...

Day 2 down. Got up at 5 a.m. to do plyometrics. This work-out is harder than I remembered...

You can do it even if you are not in good shape, you just stop when you get tired. basically, most routines are an hour (well 50 minutes between warm up/warm down). in that 50 minutes you will do about 20 diifferent exercises that take about 30 sec to 90 sec. you can stop when you get tired and move on to the next routine. it realy does work well..

I use the bands since I don't have $ for weights. I got the strongest ones I could fiond and they are not strong enough for me, but they work....

There is also a abdominal routine you do 2x a week after the core workout - that is hard - hurts my butt bone mostly.

I'll post some pics too, it will keep me honest - I just don't want the ladies fainting when they see them - baahaaa..

Ive been enjoying it. I am somewhat limited with certain exercises because of my shoulder but for the most part I'm enjoying it. I cant do the ab workouts though. Im not fit enough and I usually pass out after the first 60 seconds lol. Im getting better but until I get up there I'm doing my best and forgetting the rest lol..

I have a friend who takes a portable DVD player/P90X DVD of the day to the gym, does the routine in one of the empty aerobics classrooms using the gym's equipment. Perhaps that could work for you too.....

Wed morning (21st). The wife was intrigued by it, and wants to get cracking with it too. Seems it came with a "2 day cleanse" formula, burn up to 7 pounds in two days drinking this powder, I gave it to the wife and told her she could have it, because I'm good (not that she needs it, but you know womeneven the skinny ones are convinced they are fat)..

Good luck on the program Gary! I just finished my first week on NS. Lost 5 lbs! Probably mostly water weight, but I'm happy nonetheless. Started P90X on monday. I'm sort of combining the regular program with the thin program. Which basically means I'm cutting out the plyometrics and opting for more cardio. Anyhow, will be posting updates regularly so this time I can hopefully stick with it (3rd time ive started in 2 months!). Keep us updated!..

Tomorrow is my day off from P90X. The week went well. A little sore. Only got half way through the plyometrics and about a quarter of the ab workout. Look to improve on round two...

Finished abs - I need to figure out more cushion because it still hurts my tail bone even on the floor with the rug, cushion underneath and the workout pad - git er done xtreme!..

Funny thing about weight loss, that. I noticed this once before when I lost a bunch. After years of carrying around a lot of weight, the tailbone curves farther out than it would in a thinner body. Takes time for it to readjust, I guess. Perhaps you can get one of those doughnut hole cushions and cut it to a lower profile so you aren't raised too far off the floor in proportion to your shoulders. Just a thought..

On a side note, went to Sports Authority, picked up a range of dumbbells (not a fan of resistance bands), some push up grips, and a good heart rate monitor. Skipped the matgot carpet..

Maybe I can just duct tape a pillow to my butt....

I'm thinking I need the weights too, I just don't want to put that much $ out..

I can do the push ups w/o the grips - wrists are ok - one of those perfect push ups things could not hurt - i'll check craigs list or ebay first tho..

I'm a long way from using the push-up grips, Bob. They're actually handles that make the push-ups more intense once you've maxed out the burn from regular reps. The other stuff got used right away. Day one was good. Left me a bit sore, but not bad. We'll see how cardio goes, though.

I just did plyometrics - burned so goood!.

My calves need development - same as last time I did it....

And i'm not good at the rock and roll pete townsend jumps - I think I could do them better if I was fresh, not at the end, otherwise, I kept up the wole time..

Day 2 p90 down (cardio/abs), definitely sore through the legs. Had trouble with a couple of the moves due to a left heel spur giving me fits. Made an appt to have that looked at. No patience for something that will slow me down >.<.

Other than that, good workout both days. No prob with the ab ripper...seem to be in worse shape where push-ups are concerned. Funny, I don't remember that being a problem years ago when I was playing football, lol..

My chest still hurts from 4 days ago - it's all puffy too...very odd.

Instead of shoulders and arms, I helped a friend move yesterday - plenty of lifting.

Today I took a ceiling down uner my bathroom - 100 year old house so I had a ton.

Of plaster and lathing - 3 hours of exercise.....

Observation: it may to early to attribute this to p90 (could be a plateau/slowdown), but my loss rate has gone from 0.4 lbs/day to 0.07 lbs/day. I'm not going to make any changes to the program until two weeks in, just to be sure, but if the pattern holds, I may stop the regular p90 program and just do the cardio for a while. Anyone else have any observational data to add to this from their own experience?.

Yes, I started gaining on p90x - even just adding a can of tuna or some chicken after the workout...but I definitely lost fat and gained muscle - absolutely no doubt - almost an inch off the waist and another inch added to the shoulders..

Then this week I started losing again, so, this is just a theory, I think the first week repaired what I already had and "woke it up" which probably took agreat dal of water. now, it's starting to slide the other way I hope. too bad I was not 100% today.....

Sorry to be a female posting on your men's room thread, but I was just excited to see other people doing P90x! It doesn't seem like a lot of other females are doing this program and someone else told me there was a thread about this in here. I love this program, have been doing it for about a week now. I've done a ton of other Beachbody programs and have gotten in pretty good shape, so this is my ultimate challenge! Just wanted to say hi and hope it's going well for everyone!..

LOL! I found a few others doing P90X on the exercise videos forum, so I won't bug you BOYS anymore.

I'm still doing it - starting week 2 tonight! I'm not going to the coaching summit - maybe next year b/c I just started a couple weeks ago, so it sounds cool!.

I liked Kenpo, but you're right - not nearly as intense as Plyo! I love kickboxing though, so I got pretty into it! But like you, probably could've done something else after!..

I rotated in the Fat Burning Express with the p90 routine, and I have to say it kicked my butt (as in made me sweat, made me tired, and made me glad it was over). I think I'll extend the overall program, and make this an every-third-day drill..

You MUST increase your protein intake if you're working out hard. I added in an extra can of tuna (7oz. can) immediately after my 6am workout and had another can for my protein in my morning snack around 10:30am. I always had a can of tuna and an apple as my morning snack - even on days I didn't lift..

This may seem like a lot of extra calories but you're going to need the extra protein if you're beating the hell outta your muscles. Nutrisystem doesn't have enough protein for you if you're training. It's made for people that have near-sedentary lifestyles..

NOTE: Although I did take extra B and C vitamins and a huge multivitamin, I didn't take supplements like protein or creatin until I made goal - I'd recommend that you do the same. Creatin will make you hold water - you'll gain about 6-7 pounds and that'll just discourage you...

The P90X plan would probably tell you to eat 2400 calories a day, or even more. I know for me as a female it's 1800 which is a lot more than NS. I added in protein shake, as well as a couple of extra proteins throughout the day to make sure I am getting enough. I was low on energy before I did this and feel much better now. That's a female's prespective. If you're gonna do this, I would definitely take Sean's advice..

I realize this is an older post and your back is probably all fixed by now, but I just wanted to weigh in on the back issue. I know three people who are doing/have done this program. Every one of them, in week 2, hurt their back. Coincidence? You are now the fourth. Seems strange. But all three of them bounced right back and continued with the program and had amazing results.

Like the lady above I have done a lot of the Beachbodies workouts and loved them all. This may be my next step. But I will admit it intimidates me...

I never could follow regimens exactly, but I did take away a lot of the ab moves from many sources including p90x, 10 minute trainer also by Tony Horton, and mens health magazine. I find I do stuff better by being more flexible and creative, invented my own ab moves too when I found that there weren't enough enjoyable oblique targeting exercises lol. Prior to P90x I already had my own weight lifting routine and that's what I stick to..

Just a little bit of advice, if you're just starting out, the ab ripper and plyometrics is going to wipe you out lol. Take it slow, especially the ab ripper. I find just plain walking or jumping rope is more fun cardio for me then following videos. The yoga video is awesome though, do it often for your body to feel more relaxed and ready for more punishment lol...
