Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably can help you..
Go to the Men's Forum and see all the guys who are doingNutrisystemjust fine. You can't really look at the calorie count when it comes to deciding whether or not to doNutrisystembecause the food you're eating is very filling and satisfying, if you do the program correctly as it's written. On most any plan, he would probably be getting the same amount of calories, if you want to let him know that. And the 1500 is only an average, and depends on the entrees selected, the protein/dairy selected, etc..
It would be nice if you guys would do it together and both stay on track on those weekends...
Yes, he is afraid he will be hungry all of the time. On other diet plans he has been told to eat 1800-2000 calories based on his size. So the 1500 recommendation scares him I think...
Quite honestly, I was surprised that I struggled to eat all the food. I was very rarely hungry...
How much does he have to lose?.
I lost 53 lbs over a years time and was never hungry...like Rick, many times I struggled to eat all the add-ins and the second desert...
Josiegirl, my hubby was hesitant, too, but he's actually been a little surprised at how MUCH food there was it's all the veggies; they're bulky and fill him up. I usually end up with extra veggies on the stove, and I would say he goes back for seconds =less= often than before we started the program and I was serving higher-calorie, lower-bulk meals. Last night I turned two portions of mushroom risotto into 8 stuffed portobello mushroom caps (added sauteed green onions and chopped mushrooms to the risotto and stuffed the caps with it, then broiled) and served with sauteed cabbage and sauteed spinach w/shallots, and I ended up with 3 out of 8 stuffed mushroom caps and some spinach left over. We were both just too full to finish. (I have got to learn to add smaller amounts of veggies to our entrees!).
I pack a lunch bag for my hubby every day with his breakfast, lunch, and snacks in it. He often comes home with an item still uneaten, even though I've taken to giving him an OJ for one of his fruits and a V8 for one of his veggies..
This morning's bag had:.
Apple strudel scone.
Hard boiled egg.
6oz bottle orange juice.
Mini bagel with turkey & cheese.
Pasta w/beef lunch entree.
6oz can V8.
3/4 c sauteed spinach and shallots (leftover from last night's dinner).
Buffalo wing pretzel bits..
My husband is 6 feet tall and when he started had about 35lbs to lose. In 3 weeks he has lost close to 20. Ugh men!! He likes a majority of the food and never really has issues with hunger since he can make a salad whenever. At first he was apprehensive about trying it but now he's telling everyone about it. All his Marine buddies were giving him crap until they saw results, now I think a few of them are considering it as well..
My husband just started and it's a struggle to get him to eat all the foods! lol We are just starting him on my foods following the men's plan. He likes it and is going to order his own BBB...
I'm a big fan of asking myself "what's the worst that can happen?".
Get him to ask himself that..
The worst that can happen is he's a little hungry some days at first and he adds a protein serving or 2 or some extra fruit or veggies..
Not really something to be afraid of in the overall scheme of life!.
Then if he finds he's not hungry he'll just be thrilled...
