Question I have... Anyone got a good Dukan Diet for ibs? I tried the one with the french bread? Many thanks for any answer. Another question on my mind: I've seen threads mentioning bacon and I wonder which ones you guys use? Which ones are healthier and easier to incorporate into the program? I usually shop at the grocery store closest to me, which only has a few different brands/varieties of bacon and the healthiest one there is a reduced sodium - and it's not reduced by much. So, which do you suggest and where do you find it? I miss my bacon...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at Dukan Diet as they probably can answer it..

I use Morningstar Farms bacon. It's OK - not great in my opinion. I make it in the microwave, and it burns easily. It might be better on a sandwich than on it's own. But if you are really craving bacon it would probably do the trick...

JennieO's Extra Lean turkey bacon.

Is 20 cal per slice read label carefully since JennieO also makes a "regular" turkey bacon that's 35 cal per slice (with 3 grams of fat) gotta say that neither tastes like "real" bacon - after all, it's turkey for one thing and the extra lean really IS (lmao) - but it is reminiscent of bacon the sodium can get high if you have several slices of the extra lean (at 130mg per slice, it adds up fast)....

Personally, I mostly pass on the "healthy" bacons when I want a bit of a bacon taste, I use 1 tbsp of Hormel Real Bacon Pieces in eggs or on a salad (25 cal per tbsp, close enough to a free food and I don't do all that often) may not be much but at least it's the real deal....

You might also check Canadian Bacon lower calories and fat than regular bacon (still a lot of sodium, but you can't have everything).....

I agree with that 100%. I use them on salads occassionally, as toppings for my Pizza and mix it into the eggs every so often...

Thank you for your replies. I guess I'll use the soy or LEAN turkey options when a recipe calls for more than a taste & just enough of the real deal (bits) as a free food for the flavor. I never even thought of using a smaller amount as a free food - I'm still learning & getting used to changing the way I think about food options..

Yves Veggie Cuisine back bacon - it's soy based..

If you're a meat eater try using back/peameal/Canadian bacon as it is lower in fat and sodium. get out of the grocery store and visit a butcher shop - they'll likely make you a low sodium batch...

I like Butterball Thin and Crispy thin slices bacon cooked on paper towels in the microwave. Very good. JennieO's taste like cardboard to me. None taste good fried in a fry pan on the stove...

I really like Lightlife's Smart Bacon. Its soy based, but it's still the closest thing I've found to the real stuff, and fitting the stats at the same time. You don't even need any Pam when heated on a skillet. It comes out crispy and delicious. I've tried the Jenny Extra Lean Turkey Bacon, and it tasted like shoe leather to me. So you might give this a try, and see if you like it...

MizSlim, Leenies & Mokey_to, Thanks for the replies. It looks like I've got some shopping/taste comparisons to do. There have been so many Dukan Diet meals (especially lunches) that I thought besides the typical mushrooms & onions that I usually add, could use some bacon..
