Almost black pictures!
Hi!.

I recently got a 400D (Sigma 17-70) and now using my old flash Sigma EF 500, some of the pictures are almost black , you can see only half of the picture or less (and it's not my hand or some other subject before my objective ...

If I zoom or change my position the problem disappears. I have been testing my flash today for hours and dont seem to find any common points whenever my pictures are black again....

My previous camera was Pentax ist DL (KIT) and I never had any problems with pentax..

Maybe someone has had that kind of a problem,i would really appreciate any help or idea!Because I have no clue, whether it's the flash or my canon, or my 17-70?!.

Thank you!!..

It could be the flash is not firing every time. If you zoom then the lens/exposure becomes darker and your flash fires. This would indicate to me you have a setting in your camera which needs adjustment. Since I am not familiar with your camera I have no idea what setting to adjust..

If nothing is getting between the subject and the lens, it has got to be something inside the camera, for example the mirror. Do you have mirror settings in your menus such as mirror lock up. I would check your menus..

One more thing. Make sure your lens is mounted correctly. I don't have the expertise to provide any more possibilities..

But what if I say that without using flash all the pictures are fine? could it still be my camera..and it's settings?..

Dial your shutter speed down.Your camera doesn't probably sync above 1/160th.A member of the rabble in good standing...
